It is unlikely if a non-Kannadiga will ever understand the Dr Raj Kumar phenomenon, but it wouldn’t hurt to try.
Unlike Amitabh Bachchan, he was not the star of the millennium, ubiquitous in movies, songs, ads, commercials, stage events, voice-overs, documentaries, etc.
Unlike NTR and MGR, he never tried to extract his box office appeal at the ballot box, although he could well have and many political parties did try.
Unlike Prem Nazir, he did not act in hundreds of films, just a couple of hundred of them in a long career spanning nearly five decades.
Unlike Kamal Hassan, Rajnikanth and Chiranjeevi, he never tried his hand at other south Indian languages.
Unlike his own colleague and compatriot, Vishnuvardhan, he never ventured into Bollywood.
Unlike Naseeruddin Shah and Shah Rukh Khan, he was never very comfortable in English and rarely ever tried to explain the secret of his craft.
But….
But, to see star after star of Kannada filmdom sob and cry and to launch into adjectives, and to see them sob and cry again as they fall short of words to explain, to understand the passing of a legend is a small lesson in what an abstract thing genuine superstardom is.
Stardom that transcends the ordinary and nearly touches the divine.
On television, older stars like Vishnuvardhan are saying that as long as the sun and moon exist, Dr Raj’s name will shine on and be synonymous with our language and its culture. “Dr Raj was Kannada; without him Kannada won’t exist,” he says.
On television, younger stars like Ramesh Aravind are talking of how it seems as if every family in the whole State and beyond seems to have all lost the head of the family, all at the same time. “Without him, Kannada filmdom would be nothing,” he says.
On television, T.N. Seetharam is saying how the State, the language and its culture have lost their moral compass that has also had social moorings.
On television, the Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy is saying how there will never be another Dr Raj Kumar ever again.
But even these fail to convey the true significance of a life, a legend.
The numbers tell a small story. An oeuvre of 205 films. A career of 45 years. Ten Filmfare awards. Nine State awards for best actor. A national award for singing. Padma Vibhushan. Dada Saheb Phalke award. Etcetera.
But all of these fade in front of the big ‘D’ that Dr Rajkumar brought to the screen and more importantly, off it.
D for decency.
Decency in his choice of films and topics.
Decency in his public and private conduct.
Decency in the manner in which he accepted victory and defeat.
Decency virtually in the manner in which he went about things.
This decency, in a profession that has very little of it; this decency, in an industry that could do with a lot of it; this decency that is inherent in the average Kannadiga is what tied annavru subliminally to his countless fans.
It is this subliminal connect that is behind the tears.
It is this subliminal connect that makes it difficult to believe.

Dear Sir,
Kannada Kanmani, kannada rathna has been the only true inspiration for millions of Kannadigas who are not in karnataka. He has been a true role model and has shown us how be a proud kanndiaga, how to love and respect our parents, how to lead a simple life and believe on oneself.
when kannada filmfield was in infant stage, it was dr rajkumar who made it noticed and spread all nook an corner of the state of Karnataka. with him as the inspiration, we established kannada sanghas all over USA, Him as the inspiration, we taught our children Kannada language, culture and tradition.
Dr Rajkumar can never be replaced. There will never be a more popular kannada rathna like him.

I deeply condole the death of Dr. Rajkumar. He is the man with colours and decency. He never tried anything other than acting and that shows his determination and love for the profession. His acting was confined to Kannada and that shows his commitment to language. He is a real jewel in the Kannada and indian cinema.
May God almighty will give enough power and will to all who miss him.

Greatest Kannadiga of modern times. Such was the brilliance and presence of the man, without ever being noisy, without ever being immodest. Decency personified, in this age of little decency in the movie industry. There will never be another like him. He was a Genuine Superstar and desreved the tag completely. Larger than life figure. We Kannadigas should be proud to have lived in such an era. Not in the whole of India will there be another like him again.

Though I deeply condole the death of Dr. Rajkumar and acknowledge his contribution, i dont understand the need for a Holiday, stone throws, road blockages and numerous other public nuisance. IF you say he has helped Kannada culture, is this the culture that he promoted? indians have long believed in personalities .. worshipped them..and look at the state where we are now. bangalore is deteriorating day by day.. then we say.. it’s due to outsiders. blame others. wow great indian culture.. carry on my people.. i luv u all

Hi,
For many they may not understand the impct of this. For me who is grown up seeing his films and have learnt the values of life it’s life time loss…. His is the only film we as a family used to go together .. and it was always filled with family values , presonal traits which needs to be nurtured and I have obsorbed those and grown as an individual. even today those scenes of Baktha Kumbara, bangarada manushya, mayor mutthana, jagamecchida maga, sampatthige saval helps me to stick to the core values in life. I know for sure there are hundreads in this state/place who are like me…
As far as Yogi’s comments.. i totally understand that it;s not required for stone throwing.. but friend there are people who mourn silently of this great loss but there are some people who are not used to that so and they will come back to normal definetly. It’s not the culture Raj has thought to his fans.. but there are other influencia (Bad and good ) in this society …

Its end of a era and its really sad to know that the God of Kannada Film industry Dr.Raj is no more. Many people would remember Dr.Raj in many ways. For me
As a Movie Actor –
He acted in 200 and odd movies. I haven’t seen any other actor perform the kind of roles he performed in the movies. He played the role of God to Human Being. This makes him a very very versatile actor! Also he has sung many Kannada movie and devotional songs himself. If I have to draw a comparison I would say he had the stature of Amitabh Bachan and versatality of Kishore Kumar and much more.
As a Human Being –
He was a very humble and down to earth person. It reflected in his talk. He never was political and refused to enter polictics. Unlike his Tamil and Telugu contemporaries (MGR and NTR) Dr.Raj had all the oppurtunity to join politics. If he had, beleive me it would have been a totally different political setup in Karnataka today. Realize that Tamilnadu and AP (atleast till few years back) politics are very much film industry based. It takes a long self will to say NO to politics, afterall who doesn’t like POWER and Money!
Overall its been a sad day for people of Karnataka. People who grew up in our Karnataka will ever fondly remember our Annavaru. Finally,I would like to thank Dr.Raj for all the entertainment provided to us for so many long years.

There was sincerity on both sides of the screen – the audience and Rajkumar. It was really shock for me when I saw this news today morning in US. He was my idol from my childhood. It is not easy being simple, decent and humble with such a huge popularity and fan following. I see him as model person who with his huge success, money and power (people) never forgot his roots and humble beginning and never forgot give due credits to his parents for the right upbringing. I think he had a great inner strength that made him a great man. I have seen rural Karnataka where I grow up people named their sons as Rajkumar and wished they could become like him. There is no doubt he has inspired multi generations in Karnataka and will in future. Off course, he is the best versatile actor I ever seen. Most of the film personalities are liked for their acting and that’s it and not behind that, but for RajKumar people liked him as a great actor first then followed him for his values in life, character and commitment to culture of the land.

His movies have always been in good taste. Perhaps he is one of the very few in the country who was so powerful, yet very humble, ture to the spirit of Karnataka.
As far as the comments are concerned, I get annoyed. Could the intelligent guy who ‘wonders’ if Rajkumar promoted such culture, can he dare to make same comment aboiut MGR in Tamilnadu?
I have met few outsiders in Bangalore who believe that it is paradise because of them. I was a moderate Kannadiga till I migrated to Bangalore. Afetr seeing the ‘ATTAHAASA’ of outsiders, I have become a hardliners. Sarcastic comments from such folks will only strengthen such feeling.

For a true Kannadiga Dr Raj roles are a role model for their life be the role of Bangarada Manushya, Kasturi Nivasa, Jeevana Chaitra or movies like Baktha Kumbhara, Mantralaya Mahatme etc. The treasure he has left can never be matched with money as personality like Dr Raj are beyond the reach of materialistic money. He was true epitome of Kannadigas, Karnataka all over the world. Long live his dreams and may God bless his soul..

Words are not enough to explain the kind of loss incurred by Karnataka and all the Kannadigas. He was a powerful representative of Kannada people who brought great value to the Kannada film industry and also had been a moral support for the the Kannada/Karnataka revolutions.
Now, coming to Mr.Yogi’s comments, we should blame it on the Kannadigas itself. Look at his audacity in making comments about our great hero when the entire forum is meant to express the condolences. These outsiders don’t have any value for the good virtues-Kindness,accomodativeness,humbleness and tolerant behaviour of the Kannadigas. Added to this they screw up our happiness at our own places.

Gayana Gandharva, Rasikara Raja, Karnataka Ratna, Kannadigara Kanmani, Natasarwabhouma Dr Rajkumar!!! He was a major influence in my life. He was the hero I worshipped in my youth. I started appreciating his art (both acting and singing) more and more as I matured. Can’t think of life without his songs and movies – what a great dimension to the cultural landscape of Karnataka. His movies like Bangarada Manushya, Kasturi Nivasa, Bhakta Kumbara, Babhruvahana, Kaviratna Kalidasa, Sakshatkara (and many more) were masterpieces. He would live for ever in the hearts of his fans – both young and old alike. His songs on Raghavendra Swami and Lord Ayyappa were among the best in devotional music. His great acting, his dialogue delivery, his multi-faceted talent for any kind of role (mythological, historical, social, new age…) is a trend setter.
These days we keep losing the stalwarts one after the other… Just another reminder that life is short and we need to make it worthwhile.

Shoot! No mood to work. I received numerous text messages from my siblings who are in india about the news and situations that makes me miss my bangalore a lot! I grew up watching his movies. It makes me very sad when i see that he is history now… I still remember when my uncles were trying to by-heart his dialogues in babruvahana and mayura – “chikkappa, hahaha….illi neenu chikka appane horathu illyarigoo dodda appanalla…”
His black and white movies takes me to a different era. It truly reminds me about my parents in a big family entrusting on family values and culture!
What makes him to stand ahead of his contemporaries are his body that can be moulded to any type of character he plays, his clear pronounciation of words, his easy flow with the acting to name a few…
Conclusive note with his famous evergreen song-
“Naaniruvude nimagagi naadiruvudu namagagi, kanneer yeke bisi usireke…”
Finally,
“Aadisidhaata ‘aathura thori’ aata mugisidaa….soothrava hidida bombeya murida mannaagisida…” But, he exited from this planet gracefully…

There are no words to express the anguish of the passing away of Dr.Raj. He was a very simple man, I have met him in person as a child a number of times. In his death, the language of Kannada has lost one of its greatest children. As a homage to him people should make it a point to be proud of Kannada language and culture as long as they live. This in particular applies to all Kannadigas, in India or around the world. Let us say a simple prayer for his soul to rest in peace.

Forgot a few things in my earlier note:
Among all his movies, Mantralaya Mahatme (life story of Sri Raghavendra Swamiji) was a personal favorite of Dr. Rajkumar. I read about it in an interview. His two songs from Mantralaya Mahatme are immortal:
Kaliyirondu Pathavannu Kannada Taaymakkale
Indu Enage Govinda (a composition of Raghavendra Swamiji himself)
Both these songs are sung by the great Dr PB Sreenivos – PBS was to Rajkumar what Mukesh was to Raj Kapoor.
Of course, Sakshatkara was one of the most emotional classics – typical of the great Puttanna Kanagal.
May the great soul rest in peace I am no mood to work today. In fact, I broke down bitterly while having lunch. It is a personal loss to me. I had seen him in my dream just a day ago. It was funny. He was with me in the dream, I saw him and try to pull his leg by singing “Aakasha Kelageke Bantu…” Then he asked me: “Now tell me in which movie this song is featured?” I was not sure. I replied: “Kamana Billu”… Wrong answer, Dr. Raj was amused. But not me… Then I thought and thought and thought and finally said: “Samayada Gombe!” The answer was right but Dr. Raj was not there. It was morning already and I just woke up to realize it was all a dream.
This dream is just one example to get an idea how Dr. Raj has become a part and parcel of so many lives, especially Kannadigas. A true role model.
I had seen him in person in couple of occasions: once in 1986 or 1987 near KR Circle in Bangalore. He was leading Gokak movement then. Later, in 2003 January, I saw him visiting the great poet Dr K S Narasimhaswamay’s (of Mysooru Mallige fame) house, to pay his respects to the departed soul. The same day veteran actor Gangadhar had passed away… and GV Iyer just a few weeks ago. Dr. Raj was so sad and said a few words about the loss of these personalities. I didn’t dare approach him on that occasion. I really wanted to meet him sometime but it was not to be.
I miss you dear Raj. You will live on for ever!
Tearfully,
Ramesh

I am in complete shock and misbelief. I have seen almost all his movies. I especially loved his historical and mythological movies. I think he was the best actor in the whole world and will be for a long time to come. He was also like a perfect man with good qualities and values. He had a devine radiance. In his role as Krishna Deva Raya, you just feel he was the king himself. Whenever you watch his movies, you don’t feel like you are watching a movie, you totally get lost. All his movies were meaningful, decent and versatile. I just don’t know what is going on in Bangalore right now, I can’t even imagine. I wish I was there.

Dr. Rajkumar was a real idol to millions of Kannadigas in many ways. He was a non-smoker, non-alcoholic and refused to act as a drunkard in his movies. He was known to perform Yogasanas daily which kept his spirits up when he was kidnapped by bandit Veerappan. Unlike many other Indian film starts, he was not ambitious to get political power. One instance was, in 1977 during emergency, late PM Indira Gandhi lost her MP seat from Rae Bareli (U.P) and came to Karnataka to win MP seat from Chikmagalore constituency. At that time main Indian political leaders requested Rajkumar to contest against Indira Gandhi to defeat her. He said no to election and never tempted to enter politics. Had he been entered politics? he would have ruled Karnataka for many years. This show his greatness. He was very simple and humble person.

As somebody has rightly pointed out on this forum, it is extremely difficult to explain to a non-Kannadiga, what Rajkumar was to Kannadigas. He was literally a phenomenon.
It can well be said to the thespian’s credit that he led a full life.
May his sould rest in peace.
While one cannot predict the future, it is my personal belief that it is highly unlikely that any person will ever capture the hearts of Kannadigas the way Dr Raj did. Einstein’s quote on Mahatma Gandhi comes to my mind.

Here is my musical tribute to the great actor/singer…
Dr. Rajkumar (1929-2006) was a towering personality in South Indian state of Karnataka. He was a super-star actor par excellence, a great singer, a cultural icon, a role model. He was one of the most respected citizens: with a fan following spanning people from all cultures and ages.
He acted in 206 films, in a career spanning about 45 years, starting in 1954. He played all types of roles – mythological, historical, folklore, social, bond — just everything. He won several awards: including 10 filmfare, Padmabhushana, “Karnataka Ratna”, and the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke.
He was the only hero in Indian cinema to succeed both in acting and singing. He started off full-fledged singing with the magical ‘Yaare Koogadali’ in 1976 (though “Thumbithu Manava” was his first song, dated 1958). Veteran singer P.B. Sreenivos used to sing for him earlier.

My friend (a non-Kannadiga) was threatened by grieved public just because he wanted few vox pops (people’s opinion) on Dr. Rajkumar’s demise. Mob ripped his shirt and forced him to talk in Kannada. The poor fellow knows only one sentence “Kannada gottilla” (I don’t know Kannada). But he didn’t mean to convey that he was indiffrent to the sentiments of Kannadigas.

It is an insult to us Kannadigas. When Yahoo, MSN, Reuters could have the news on main page TOI has neglected it. They had it only the first day with a picture article. They give importance to all nonsense irrelevent issues. I call upon you guys to abondon reading that website/paper. It’s a sad day for all Kannadigas. No, i would say for all Indians.. Rajkumar was the most illustrious son of Kannada Thayi. He gave everything for uplifting the cause of Kannada. He was most supportive of Gokak movement. It’s just not fair on the part of God that he was snatched from us.
Rajkumar may not be anymore in this world physically, but he will always be present spiritually. He taught us to love our mother (Thayige takka maga, Amma, etc). He taught us to love our language (Huttidare kannada naadali huttabeku…). He was like a brother to thousands of sisters, father figure to thousands of people and a role model to all of us.
As you have rightly pointed out, it’s in his humbleness was his greatness. He had lots of achievements but they were nothing for him, as they were ” abhimani devara krupe”. It’s sad that we will never get to see Raj extolling good virtues on screen, will never get to hear Gana gandharva’s voice, will never see “Amoghavarsha Nrupatunga or Bhakta Ambarisha”. Still the legacy he has left behind is sufficient for this Yuga.

But your comments ‘I wonder if it is an awkward age to die, keeping Indian males life expectancy in view ‘ is in poor in taste and is deeply lacking in common sens and respect. I really wonder if u belong to the educated group or the uneducated crop of uncivilized hooligans.
By the way no man is immortal. Buddha died, Swami Vivekananda died and Jesus died too… Its the deeds that makes a man immortal not drops of ambrosia mised with bile juice, in case u didnt know. Shame on you and your petty mind.

May Dr Raj’s family find their peace. It was so sad to hear about the disturbances (I heard Dr Raj’s sons and other senior film personalities pleading public to maintain peace – how sad)… And Mrs. Parvathamma Rajkumar had to plead as well… May the almighty help them to overcome this unfathomable grief.

Raj – No more !!! When I read this news, it definitely came as an unpleasant shock. It was hard to believe. Raj was a household name in Karnataka. Many have grown up seeing his movies. One can easily say that Raj’s simplicity and decency in his acting had inspired millions of fans to such an extent that they started incorporating those fine qualities in their lives. Raj was a part of every Kannadiga’s life, inspiring them to become good individuals who never took to smoking and drinking and always harmless and well natured thus making the state of Karnataka a peaceful place to live. No wonder people from all over India come to Karnataka to earn a living and a part of that credit MUST go to Dr. RajKumar without whom it would have been difficult to imagine a peaceful state. Hats off to Dr. Raj!!!
May his soul rest in peace!

Can’t describe the loss in words. DaRaKu meant much more than an actor
or singer to me. As many readers have already pointed out, the loss is
much more for those who have grown up watching his movies, tuning to
his songs and dormantly imbibing many good values he conveyed. Today if I am non smoking, non-alcoholic, respect women, parents and practise healthy religion, I clearly see his role in them. I feel it is due to this
bonding, it makes the DrRaKu and kannidigara relationship totally
unique.
Though he hasn’t been active recently, I had taken it for
granted that he will be with us for a long time. But as he sung, “huttu
saavu baalinalli eradu konegalu, bayasidaaga kaanadiruva eradu
mukhagaLu”. I am bidding a heavy hearted farewell to DrRaKu. We will

What will I say – I am so deeply affected by this gentleman’s passing, I have no words to express my grief. In this world of lies, vulgarity, violence and duplicity, he was a true human being. Humility and modesty personified. For him, the world began and ended with Kannada and Karnataka. No amount of money or fame could lure this true son of Karnataka away from his mothertongue and motherland. People talk of donating their organs etc, he did so without every bleating about. A great human being, a great living and an even greater way of demise.
In this hour of grief, when emotions are riding high, I request my brethern of Karnataka to show restraint and not to revert to violence. It is god’s decision to take him away from us, it was not the act of any other human being. So why do you want to punish your fellow brethern for this. They are as shocked and grieved as you all. So please do not resort violence, it will not bring our dear departed soul back to us. Let him not suffer in death what he did not in life. Let us not give his soul for grief by our actions. Let us mourn for him in peace and pray god to rest his kind soul in peace.

Dr Rajkumar will be remembered for as long as today’s generations are alive. And even beyond, we might say. A great man. More importantly, a humble man. Never one to venture into the “I-Me-Myself” world of politics. Not a scandal against his name. Even when he was kidnapped by Veerappan, though there was a lot of name-throwing and blaming going on, not a single word was spoken against him. Such was his blemishless character. He will live on.
However, the violence being shown on TV is truly deplorable. They’re burning buses and beating up policemen and others needlessly. Women and children are in the crowds there and they’re being forced to run and hide as rampaging mobs attack them. True fans of the great man, the ones he always used to address as ‘nanna abhimani devarugalu,’ would respect and emulate his peaceful and loving nature and pay their respects to him and his legacy in a non-destructive manner.
Dr Rajkumar. Man, myth, legend. Sir….no, no, Annavre, you are immortal.

Hailing from Lucknow, I spent 5 years of my life in Bangalore studying engineering from 1985 to 1990. During the period, the one thing that remained unchanged was the aura, the mass appeal and the evergreen persona of Dr. Rajkumar. Humble in bearing, he was a demi-God and literally worshipped by the cine-goers. It was a common sight to see his huge, life-size cut outs in virtually every street corner. He was like a binding, cosmic force for the people of Karnataka.
Today, I can well imagine the plight of Kannadigas, who have truly been orphaned.

Every society has a percentage of anti-socials who are just waiting for an opportunity to vandalize. Higher the population the higher would be the number of antisocials. In a place like Bangalore, the gap between poor and rich is very high which could be a factor that influences law and order situation in an event like this. Please don’t blame Rajkumar for that. Neither should it be blamed speicifically on a particular language group (in this case Kannadigas). All of us could be very good Indians, all of us could be adequately cosmopolitan while having deep respect for our native language and culture. There is no debate that Rajkumar was a cultural icon and he stood for the good side of the movies. He goes down as a great artist who significantly contributed to movies and singing. His spirit would live on.
Isn’t it common that stampedes take place in places of worship? Simple rule is: where thousands of people gather, things can always go wrong. Add the emotional side to the size of the crowd and it is anybody’s guess.
BTW, we lost my wife’s maternal uncle on the same day. He couldn’t reach the hospital (in Hebbal) on time because of the disturbances. And the family members living on the other side of the town had great difficulty in reaching the place. Do you think all Kannadigas support violence? You gotta be kidding. Let’s not fight like kids. Let’s stop saying things just to hurt someone else. Language-wise division of states was a good thing to nurture specific cultures and literature – which are interlinked. In this age where “global village” is becoming a common place, let’s not be so petty to humiliate others and call them as “outsiders”… There are no outsiders and insiders anywhere: there are only two types of people: first, cultured and sensible ones who follow the principle of “Serve Ever, Hurt Never” and others who might be sensible in the usual times but become insensible when going gets tough…
When you are in a foreign country, how do you feel if someone asks you to “go back to your country”? Do you want a fellow Indian to feel the same? Having said that, it is good be a roman in rome. If you are not in your native state, please try to mingle with the local culture and develop respect for it, while sticking to your own culture. He might be a great person for Kannadigas. But, for you patriotic Indians staying in a foreign land and commenting on the situation in Bangalore is a very easy job. Just have a look at how the local Kannadigas destroyed the calmness of the whole city by burning public property, throwing stones, blacking out all TV channels except the local kannada channels (which kept of repeating the same recordings over and over again)! These people bought the whole city to a halt. Offices, market places everything was closed and lots more. People were forced to stay inside thier homes. The situation here became totally choatic because of this Dr. Rajkumar’s death. Now, who do you think is responsible for this? Don’t just put the blame on a few corrupt politicians or police officers.

I address this to Ashishjena and others who have the feeling that Rajkumar’s death has paralysed their life. Yes, it is true. It happens at everyone’s home when a loved one is departed.
I believe the whole scene was created by some mischeavous elements who always try to benefit out of the situations. No true fan of Dr.Raj Kumar would have done such things. Even if they would have done, there is a cuase for it. Just think about a fan or follower who comes to see the face of his Annavru the last time but unable to do so due to lack of planning or whatsoever reason it may be.
The people who did this are not as educated as you are. For them the only wish is to see their beloved one’s face at any cost. The authorities who knew from previous experience should have planned rightly to avoid such chaos.
And it happens all over the world. Have you forgotten the incidents followed the tragic death of Indira Gandhi & Rajiv Gandhi and in Tamil Nadur after the sudden demise of MGR and NTR’s death in Andhra.

In a world of vultures and thieves, RajKumar embodied the values of gentleness and humility.
A lot has been said here about Kannadigas. There is not a greater state than Karnataka in the Indian Union nor a finer people than Kannadigas. From the literary genius of Masti Iyengar to those of us writing algorithms for google, the Kannada genius has not left any challenge unanswered. The descendants of the Hoysala and Vijayanagara empires will caryy with elan the greatness that history has bequeathed upon them.

Grow up people. I understand that Mr. Rajkumar was great, but then there is no point in not allowing his soul to rest in peace by rioting and killing innocent people in the process. Do you honestly think that a pure and humble man would be hapy by seeing his folowers like this.

In my view the people of Karnataka never thought he would die one day, or they don’t want to even hear the news of his death, they wanted him to be Chiranjeevi.. that’s the Love he has earned from all Kannadiga, even though he could do little to the society in terms of charity or donations, we can imagine why still people of Karnataka love him, which no one in this world can earn this love, which is just invaluable.
Without him Karnataka is nothing.

everybody has their own dieties in their domain. if we also start commenting on their gods – whether they like it. afterall, people come and go. but some will rest permanently in the hearts of common people of the land. but Dr raj didn’t sell his name for politics, money or popularity like the way done by other language people. this is the best quality which can be named after Dr raj
Dr raj has transformed many many people. it is not a forum to discuss how and where. i am also one of the beneficiary.

Dr. Raj Kumar has been a great binding factor for Kannadigas. No Denying that. May his soul rest in Peace, despite all the unfortunate things said and done by all (including ppl in this forum too).
Ignore the rest of it, unless you are ready for some serious stuff.
When we literates are not able to control our thoughts in this forum, who are we to talk about common man’s emotions which would just have outbursted by the news of the death of Dr. Raj Kumar.
It’s an electrical SURGE.
On top of it, if they do not get to see their god in person in his last journey of Life, think of the mixture. It’s DEADLY.
And again, like any place in the world, there would be some anti-social elements who would be waiting for such “good”(for them!) times to fuel this mixture and further aggravate it.
These are the times, when we can expect the unexpected.
I’m a Kannadiga, humble and a proud one, like any other person would be of his/her native state and above all an INDIAN at heart first.
“When in Rome, be a Roman” and yet “Do not loose your Identity”. And then you’ll enjoy the local traditions/culture better when you will start living in it. I have done it. Dad, b4 his retirement from work, was in a transferrable job and so i know what it means.
Was just passing by .. And couldn’t control myself from writing the above .. No offence meant to anybody. Sorry if i have already caused it.
Bye and have a good life.

Dr.Raj is a phenomenon.. it would be definitely difficult for anyone to understand this phenomenon if he has not lived in any part of Karnataka for a significant period. I’ve grown up watching his movies… what really stands out is the message he has always tried to pass on through his movies. He completely understood the influence of media in India & chanellised it for the better, though avoiding all greed associated with it for personal benefit. His personal life, led with discipline till his last day stands testimony to his commitment to efforts in leading by example. His career is free from affairs and greed of seeking high amounts per film. His commitment as a devout husband, brother, student & father stand out.
However, the homage paid by his fans is definitely not appreciable.. they have scarred his image, especially to non-kannidagas. I’m not a kannadiga, but have lived all my life in Bangalore. Dr.Raj’s family deserved more time with him than what the fans offered.

“If I had not been in the celluloid world, I would have been a farmer tilling the land…”
We bring you the last interview of Dr Rajkumar which appeared in the Prajavani Deepavali special issue 2005. Dr Raj spoke to Premkumar Hariyabbe and E V Satyanarayana.
The description of ‘living legend’ fitted him perfectly. For half a century he ruled the hearts of Kannada people unconditionally. His life history and the history of Kannada film industry are synonymous.
He looked fresh and clean after a massage by the physiotherapist who had come to attend to his knee problem. He was dressed in sparkling white dhothi and shirt. Casual talks about his health brought out the philosopher in him. “No problem at all. Just some pains. It’s all as HE wishes! After all I am aging, you see,” laughs.
Q: May be you would be in better health if Veerappan had not abducted you?
A : No..No… I was in good health there. They looked after me well. They served me food on time and there was no restriction to my movement. His boys took care of me well as he had instructed them so. The time was spent with jokes and chatting. I remember the location and the forest.. it’s carved in my mind. Memories of that makes me wish to go visit those spots again. It was a little difficult in the rainy season. Especially on one stormy day when the water surged like a thunder storm in sea. I believe all those places were inhabited once upon a time. After all I also grew up in a forest. We were near Bannary. I was not talking much with him (Veerapppan). He used to speak vain stuff and several times I used to think in my mind that I also had spoken such words in the films.
But life in the forest was like what they call the `Vanaprastha’. I used to get up at 4 a.m. bathe and engage in Yoga for a couple of hours. I forgot my house and family. In fact when it was time for me to leave I started wondering why I should leave all this and go! I even wondered what I would tell people, my wife, Raghu, Shivanna and Appu. The boys who were with me cried when I left. I asked them if I should stay with them for few more days … I leave it to the hands of god. We are only human.
Q: If you were not in the celluloid world what else would you be? Did you have any other favourite profession?
A: (Instantly) I would be a farmer tilling the land. That is precisely what I was doing before I entered the theatre. I did buy some land after I came into the films and they are giving good yield now. My brother-in-law took care of them but he passed away. Now his son Gopala looks after the lands. I do wish to go back to my land and till. Nothing else can make me happy. If I am fortunate I wish to breathe my last there.
(Parvathamma, his wife quipped in between “you don’t know the difficulties of the farmers now. Famine, heavy rains, not getting good returns…” Rajkumar said “there are hard times in all professions. Once you know there is a problem one must try to overcome it”.
Parvathamma laughs. “Puneeth says if Appaji is so fond of tilling, let him do so in my farm house in Bangalore.”)
Q: Did you not miss theatre after coming to films?
A: I came from the stage. It was my father’s dream that I act in films. It did not come true when he was alive. After ‘Bedara Kannappa’ in 1957 till 1963 we lived off stage. Kannada films were rare in those days. I, along with Balu (Balakrishna) , Narasimharaju, Iyer formed a theatre company and staged plays all over the state. We had three plays ‘Echchama Nayaka’, ‘Sahukar’ and ‘Kannappa’. We were about 35 artistes in the troupe. All of us lived on the earnings from the theatre.
It was at that time that we protested against dubbing. Writers like A N Krishnarao, Ramamurthy supported us. If it were not for our protests we would not be free from dubbing culture in Kannada today. Kannada films would not have survived. If other language films are dubbed into Kannada, what will happen to Kannada artistes and technicians? Some are arguing for dubbing even now. But that will undoubtedly finish Kannada film industry.
We made a film even as we were staging plays in 1962. I, Balanna, Narasimharaju, Iyer acted in it. We chipped all our resources and made ‘Ranadheera Kanteerava’. We did not get a theatre to release the film and do you know how difficult it was? We did not get a theatre in the city area and finally released it in Bharath talkies. The owner of Bharath theatre was Shariff, a Muslim. He came forward on his own and released ‘Ranadheera Kanteerava’. Later he released ‘Santha Tukaram’. In fact he made it his policy to show only Kannada films in Bharath talkies. Today people don’t even know that there was a theatre called Bharath talkies.
‘Mannina Maga’ was released in Kapali. It ran for 25 weeks. After that, Kannada film industry developed. The early days were very difficult.
Q: Did you like watching your films?
A: I never watched my films. I saw just one or two. The only film I watched with interest was ‘Mantralaya Mahatme’. It is my belief that it was Sri Raghavendra Swamy’s blessings that made it possible for me perform that role. Now, I do watch my films on TV when they are telecast. When I was shown the preview of ‘Bangarada Manushya’ I felt there were so many mistakes in the film. I wish I had corrected all those mistakes. G K Venkatesh came and asked me how the film was. I was silent. He said ‘God help KCN Gowda’ (the producer). Puttanna also said something similar. I also felt the same. Only Varadanna predicted the film would run for 25 weeks. And it ran for years.
Q: When did you become a producer?
A: They used to say Kannada films were expensive to make. I didn’t know. (Parvathamma intervened here to explain how Rajkumar was paid only Rs.30,000 for ‘Bangarada Manushya’ when it cost the producer Rs 13 lakhs to produce it and it raked a whopping Rs. 3 crores.) Later we started producing films under our own banner. (Detailed talks about the problems of production, distribution followed)
Now the industry has grown. We have produced good films. It’s good times for Kannada film industry now. We must make use of the opportunity and help the industry to grow. I learnt the trade under stalwarts like Veeranna, Subbaiah Naidu. What I learnt on stage helped me on celluloid. Looking back, I realise I have come a long way.”
And like always, he came till the gate to bid us good-bye. And as usual there were fans, who had come from far and near, waiting eagerly for a glimpse of their demi-god. He spoke to them and their faces glow was enough proof of Rajkumar’s greatness.

When the stalwarts met
“NTR, Akkineni, MGR, Shivaji Ganeshan were all great artistes. It is my privilege that I met them all. Once NTR and Akkineni were shooting for a film and I wanted to pay my respects to them. I started walking towards their location. They also wanted to speak to me and were walking towards my location. We met midway and we all stood there itself, talking. NTR was a strict disciplinarian. He would wake up at 3 a.m. and engage in yoga and perform pooja and be ready for his shot even before the unit was ready. I was not in much contact with MGR. Once I wanted to meet him and an assistant director Ramakrishna Rao introduced me to him. He said he had heard that I loved my mother very dearly. I met Shivaji Ganeshan recently. He had come to meet me once after I returned from the forest.
Jayalalitha’s mother Sandhya acted with me in ‘Ranadheera Kanteerava’. I remember Jayalalitha was learning dance at that time. She even shot for two days. I don’t know what happened after that.

Firstly, May Dr Rajkumar’s soul rest in peace. He was heart and soul of Kannada culture for many decades and will remain so for many more decades. But why are people dismissive about Yogi’s remark? Is Hooliganism any way to mourn the death a cultural icon? Is that what Dr RajKumar symbolised? No, he symbolized great Kannada culture. There are so many nicer ways to mourn this great loss. Destruction of public property, arson, looting and killings in the name of mourning is probably the worst way to pay tribute to him. We can’t be proud of what has happened.

There are some very serious issues that have arisen out of all the messages left behind here.
1) Why is it so imperative and important that Dr Raj, didn’t have to act in other languages to prove his devotion and loyalty to the Kannada language. Language, medium and other factors are not constraints on acting. It is an art and an actor is expected to transcend all these barriers. In fact, It would have been great to see Dr Raj acting in other languages ( tamil, malayalam etc). After all, we are talking about ART, aren’t we ??? So, when I see all these people blabbering about the fact that he didn’t act in other languages, and ergo that is one of his greatest contributions to Kannada cinema, it makes me sick. I can understand the situation in the early 50’s, when Kannada cinema was its infancy and therefore the need to act and promote only Kannada movies. Sivaji Ganesan, NTR acted in other language movies, did this in any way diminish their stature as an actor / champion of their respective languages ? I don’t think so. In fact, it would been an excellent idea to put …say Sivaji and Dr Raj together in a mythological setting, it would have been a splendid idea, brought MORE people together, promoted kannada and tamil….SO, all you hypocrites who claim that Kannda can be promoted ONLY be acting in Kannada, please…stop insulting Dr Raj and other artistes like that.
2) Every CIVILIZED Bangalorean, Kannadiga, human being must be ashamed of the way Dr Raj was sent off. From some of the pictures on deccanherald, I can actually see hooligans with pipes, sticks and the MOST SHAMELESS SMIRKS AND SMILES, wielding stuff at policeman and at other fellow human beings. Granted, with his status and popularity, it was always going to be a logistical nightmare of a funeral. BUt still, in this day and age when images are being beamed all over the world, to see people indulge in such brazen acts of stupidity on such a somber occasion, just burns me up on this inside. How can I honestly pay my respects to Dr Raj, even as I write this, fully well knowing that my family and friends in Bangalore are not safe. As great and humble as a person Dr Raj was, what explanation can you offer to the people who died yesterday and the day before. I read that the KSRP constable was ‘beaten to death’. It makes my blood boil, that there are so many vandals and goondas in my city , who use an occasion like this to burn down buses, torch stores ( that were kept open), hurl abuses at people and policemen. Such cheap behavior can never be condoned, and nobody will forget this incident. In fact, a few years from now, his funeral will be remembered only for its violence and chaos….How unfortunate ?

Please don’t think I am trying to show off. I was a little fanatic sometime ago. But due to god’s grace, I feel like a global citizen these days.
Coming to the incidents around Dr Rajkumar’s day of passing:
Let’s realize that it was not people like you and me who created the turmoil in Bangalore. Major part of the trouble makers were not even Rajkumar fans – but goodas and hooligans who just used the situation as a “cover”… I agree that his fans were angry and they did make mistakes. That may be partly because they couldn’t have their last glimpse of the hero. I think the problem was at least partly with the government as well – they could have planned a little better for this, knowing well how the city and the state at large reacted to Rajkumar’s kindnapping about six years ago. I really honor the heroism of our policemen who addressed the challenge even when their life was in danger.
Let’s not single out Rajkumar’s fans here. Whenever there is a mass activity (like water dispute, communal violences, linguistic clashes etc.), the mob behaviour is the same. The response to Rajkumars passing away was very widespread because his fans are everywhere – he is the MOST RESPECTED figure in the state. Years ago, Dr Rajkumar himself had denounced his fans’ association saying that he has no control/influence over them.
I want to place another point here… There is an animal in each of us – good upbringing, education, exposure to better and broader aspects of life, in short, evolution plus the fear of consequences — suppresses the animal and makes us more of a human being. But when there is a huge mass of people with different tendencies and no fear of consequences, things can go wrong… animal in one person could bring out the animal in the other person and the situation can quickly deteriote. One example in a smaller scale to this is the traffic on Indian road. Many of us have visited deveoped countries and seen the better traffic system there. In spite of us, we behave like animals on the road, flouting every rule possible? Let’s think about that… This happens every single day, on every other road. I used to drive from Electronics City to Jayanagar for more than four years and I know how it is. I have thought so much about it, discussed about it with so many of my IT friends. What I felt at last was:
EACH PROBLEM HAS A SOLUTION. BUT, MADNESS (read it as mob mentality) HAS NO SOLUTION.
Why is the madness if you ask… it is a complex phenomenon. Socio-economic-psychological-blah blah blah. Good governance can bring down the madness (a proof to this is the same IT friends who are “animals” on Indian road behave like tamed horses on foreign road, for example, in USA). If you ask them why they flout all the rules (even though they know the rules), they give a nice excuse: “It is not possible to reach your destination in India if you follow rules!” Isn’t this utter foolishness? And they say: “why should I follow rule when no one else is following it?” I call this as “recursion without a terminating condition”, or simply put, an INFINITE LOOP.
Let’s not point fingers at each other. Let’s reflect upon the situation around us and think of ways how we could make a difference.

It is quite easy for chief minister Kumaraswamy to shift the blame to others on the violence which marred Rajkumar’s funeral procession. It is like a reflex action: whenever there is violence, you immediately shift the blame to anti-social elements.
I was there near Rajkumar’s residence in Sadshivnagar when his body was taken back to his residence. As the crowds swelled, I could clearly see where the problem lay. The administration was treating the whole issue as if the fans were trying to buy a ticket for one of Rajkumar’s movies. It was clearly not a law & order problem but one which needed to be treated with sensitivity. Rajkumar was more than a public figure. The chief minister along with top police officials should have met the family members of Rajkumar and chalked out a strategy to counter possible violence. The administration’s move to take Rajkumar’s body from one place to another showed indecision. If a decision had been taken to shift his body to a certain place, it was necessary to have the route swarming with policemen. For a VIP visit, the cops get into an overdrive and stop the traffic miles away from the actual route the VIP convoy takes. In this case, cops merely went about swinging their lathis whoever came their way. Is it the way one controls the situation.
Once again, when it was decided that Rajkumar’s body would be buried at the Kanteerava studios, the entire route again should have been cordoned off by seeking the help of the army.
But we know now that the entire episode was made good use by those who wanted to make a statement to certain people in the film industry. I rest my case.

I am also posting a brilliant and touchy article about Annavru written by the journalist DP Satish who knew the legend at the personal level (very slightly edited):
Rajkumar: We never wanted him to die
Thursday, April 13, 2006
How old was I when I first saw a Rajkumar film? I must have been four years old. The movie I saw was the legendary Bangarada Manushya.
I was too young to understand that film. But he was looking so natural on the big screen. I understood one more thing that more than 800 people, who were watching him in the theatre, liked it a lot.
I could feel a great sense of satisfaction on their faces. It made me his instant fan and admirer. Apart from watching his movies with other family members, I started to collect his photographs. When I was just eight years old, there were more than 600 different Rajkumar pictures with me.
Rajkumar had a massive following among our areca and coffee estate labourers. They used to travel 30 to 40 kilometers to watch Annanvru’s latest films on Saturdays. Some of them would cover that long distance on a bicycle!
They would tell us stories about his valour, generosity, great acting skills etc. Rajkumar cinema was the only entertainment these people had in the remote, hilly districts of my state. For them he was like a family member, a beloved elder brother.
My socialist father was very generous to give us money to watch Rajkumar movies. He never stopped me from going to movies with our labourers.
May be his socialist instincts didn’t permit him to do so. Moreover, cinema was a great leveller during those pre-TV and CD days.
Before I turned 12, I had seen at least 50 of Rajkumar’s movies. Starting from Hosa Belaku, Kasturi Nivasa, Gandada Gudi, Bahaddur Gandu, Kaviratna Kalidasa to Mayura. All of his great movies.
The biggest and most memorable day in my life came when I was 12 years old. Our hero came to my place. He was staying at the Century old British Bungalow located a few feet away from the roaring, beautiful Jogfalls, the second highest waterfalls in the world.
I still remember that evening. It was unusually cold. Darkness had already covered everything. The gentle sound of river water jumping into a deep valley provided a perfect play back music to the chirping of birds and the roaring of wild animals in the forest behind.
But there was no dearth of people. Thousands of his fans who waited all their life to have a glimpse of their Super Star had gathered outside the majestic, grand & massive building. Many of them had trekked 20 – 30 miles in the deep forest and undulating mountains.
My father asked me to say Namaskara. But I could do nothing. I was shivering. I was so excited. The sheer joy of standing before my hero had tied my tongue.
Unknowingly tears rolled upon my cheeks. My demi-god rajkumar hugged me and consoled me saying Chikka Huduga. Naachkondidane ‘(Small kid. He is shy). His words are still ringing in my ears.
I could feel his genuine warmth and affection in that gesture. That night we had the rare honour of having dinner with our icon. He posed for a photograph with us. I lost it a few years later. I still feel the loss.
Rajkumar got Dada Saheb Phalke award in 1996. I came to Bangalore to study, the next year. After that I met him on several occasions. Sometimes as a journalist and sometimes as his fan and admirer.
I was a young reporter, when he was abducted by Veerappan, six years ago. I covered all that happened during those 108 days. My reports had some level of depth and understanding.
I was one of the three or four lucky journalists who met him immediately after his release from the clutches of Veerappan. Rajkumar was brought to a farm house on the foothills of nilgiri mountains in erode district before he was flown to Bangalore.
As I entered his heavily guarded room, I was surprised that he greeted me in Tamil. His wife Parvathamma whispered into his ears ivru nammavaru Kannadalli maathnaadi (He is our man. talk to him in Kannada).
The frail looking icon apologetically said ‘after 108 days in Veerappan’s captivity, I can’t even recognize my own people’. That meeting left an indelible impression in my mind. From a child who was ready to do anything for a glimpse of him, to a journalist who was there to report his trauma to the entire state, I had traveled a long way with Rajkumar. For me it was a long journey indeed.
I met him several times after that. Physically, he was not the same Rajkumar. That nightmarish incident had clearly taken its toll on him. But mentally he remained the same. The same old beloved annavru.
He never harbored ill feelings towards anybody including Veerappan. He was the one who would always attribute everything to fate.
When the news of his sudden death hit me hard yesterday, all these thoughts came to my mind as a flashback. For us he was not a mere actor. He was a role model. Man of all virtues.
Simplicity and love personified. He was always there for Karnataka and its people. Entire state used to look at him whenever there was a crisis. Be it Cauvery dispute or primacy for Kannada and Kannadigas in the state. Rajkumar was there to lead us. For us he was the unacknowledged head of the state.
People outside Karnataka may not be able fathom why the death of an actor at the age of 77, brings entire state to halt. They may wonder why millions of people mourn throughout the day.
But for us, there is nothing unnatural in it. We are mourning the death of an elderly man in our own family. Now we have nobody of that stature to lead the state, during its difficult times. Nobody to instill confidence in the minds of millions of people. Nobody who can charm everybody cutting across all sections of society.
It is my firm belief that Rajkumar shouldn’t be compared with anybody else in the country, including the movie icons. Perhaps the only thing Rajkumar and some other movie icons have in common is their unparalleled popularity.
Rajkumar is altogether different. Rajkumar was the unacknowledged chief minister of Karnataka. He was the most powerful public figure in Karnataka for fifty years. Elected rulers just rule the land. But the great people like Rajkumar rule the heart and mind of people.
With all luxuries of material life he lived the life of the simplest man. We never wanted him to die. He was divine in both his life and death. Karnataka will never be able see another Rajkumar. People like him born once in a Century.
When I visit my state next time, it will certainly look like a house, which has just lost its most affectionate headman.

Hi ppl,
Goin thru this thread, I see lot of people being bad towards us outsiders. Lets not get into all this shit. After all we are indians. Lets not have this regionalisitc approach which people here have in abundance.
Anywayz well as an outsider as also, I do feel bad about Dr Raj’s death. Going thru literature on him, it seems he was a noble soul and did a lot for karnataka’s culture. From my friends I get he souly was responsible for bringing karnataka film industry this far. I salute this guy.
May his soul rest in peace.

Nobody here in his/her right mind is against outsiders. Just against those that lack the courtesy to live and let others live. When a tamil actor dies you won’t find too many folks from Karnataka asking about his /her illegitimate progeny or dissing tamilians. Kannadigas have been open to people from all of India ( including heretofore unknown/unheard parts of the country). The least the others can do is shut the fuck up and let us mourn/celebrate. Of course, you are welcome to join in anytime. The word I believe is RESPECT.

Article Title: ‘Bangarada manushya’ by M Bhaktavatsala
Besides his golden voice and evergreen films, Rajkumar leaves behind a trail of sweet memories. Sunday Herald presents the Natasarvabhowma as his admirers saw him.
One cannot talk of the ‘end of an era’ for he was more than just an era. He was in more senses than one the history of the Kannada Cinema. Unlike his contemporaries, who all had others to contend with, Rajkumar strode the path alone. There were MGR and Shivaji, ANR and NTR in the neighbouring states.
As for Hindi cinema, he belonged to the era of Dilip Kumar, Raj Kapoor and Dev Anand. But there was no one ever to contend with him. That helped in developing his individualistic style and taking along the entire Kannada film industry on the road he traversed in 45 years.
It seems just yesterday that one saw a brand new face in the Madras AVM Studios. That was Bedara Kannappa and the year 1954. I remember it well because we were in the film industry long before that through the Vauhini Studios which belonged to my uncle.
My father being a kind of patron of Drama Theatres was close to Gubbi Veeranna and Hiranniah, owners respectively of the Gubbi Channbasaveshwara Nataka Mandali and Hirannaiah Mitra Mandali. As children we would be honoured guests at the performances and the child mind caught the frightening actors more than the romantic ones.
In the role of Kamsa, it was MN Gangadhara Rao and later Singanalluru Putaswamiah – father of Rajkumar. Though the profession was acting, Rajkumar’s father was keen to do toddy contract and father made him a ‘Shikmidar’ or a sub contractor of one of his contracts. It was this special relationship that perhaps prompted father to gift him a silver kada in appreciation of his acting prowess. Rajkumar never forgot to mention this whenever he met me in the presence of his mother when she was alive. He had a loving memory of his father who had dearly hoped that his son one day would become an actor on the screen but had died barely three years before the release of Bedara Kannappa which set him on the sure course to stardom.
Thereafter, I have interacted with him in countless number of times. Most vividly, when I as the president of the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce took the entire troupe of actors led by Rajkumar in 1971 to raise funds for national defence.
We travelled the length and breadth of the State performing the show piece invariably, Rajkumar as Echema Nayaka. His stagecraft was electrifying and those who only saw him in films, particularly the early films, thought him a bit stagy. But stage had given him a great singing voice too. As he matured as an actor he mastered the subtleties of film acting and in his later films his acting was totally effortless.
However, on that trip I saw him on the stage on a variety of roles and I honestly believe he was one of the greatest stage actors. That trip also made me aware how consummate he was in handling crowds – not just in wowing them which he needn’t so consciously, but in evading them as they surged all over him.
He was nimble as a cat and knew exactly how to get out without a scratch. I will never forget those crowds, old and young, gazing at him with tears in their eyes as they threw into the kitty, whatever they possessed. One could hardly believe when we relaxed with him in the evening that this simple man could be such a cynosure of people.
In my seven long years as president of the Chamber, I had several occasions when we needed him to press for our varying causes like increase of subsidy, tax exemption and of course, the Gokak agitation. But that statewide fund raising month was the most memorable.
When Devraj Urs put up Indira Gandhi from Chickamagalur, he secretly wanted her defeated. And he thought the best bet was Rajkumar. I drove to Mysore and found him in his favourite hotel. He always chose middle class hotels because of his friendship with the owners. I narrated my errand at great length that evening. I left reasonably certain that he would accede.
Little did I know of his aversion to politics. In no time he was gone from Mysore and there was no response in his Madras home. Later I learnt that he stayed with one of his favourite directors till the election was over. Unlike his counterparts in the neighbouring states he was never interested in politics and power.
Indeed, he was not even interested in the business of cinema. He was deeply interested in whatever bore down on acting, period. Not surprisingly he was extra ordinary in roles of deep devotion.
No one can forget his Kumbara and Kanakadasa. And of course all his devotional songs. With Sampathige Saval he had harked back to his old stage days and began singing.
His voice, though not of the timbre of PB Srinivos who usually was his play back artiste, had that inherent expressive emotional content that only an actor could imbue the voice with.
Though like MGR, Shivaji Ganeshan, NTR, ANR and the Kumars and Kapoors of the North, he will be remembered for the films he acted in, it is as a singer he will continue to be living presence in every home of his beloved Kannada Nadu.

Let me try to put some words regarding Raj Kumar in our lives….
Iam living in Hyderabad for past 25 years after my degree. I have hardly seen any Kannada movie during this period. All my memories of Kannada movie is Rajkumar’s movies.
We all have grown up during an era where in Dr. Raj was supreme in all the things he did. Even when we didnot like some of his movies (during the period we were studying in college, we thought it was fashionable not to like Rajkumar’s movies!!!) he was integral to our lives. He was seen as harbinger of cultural changes that we all underwent throughout our student days.
As kannadigas, we cannot accept the fact that there can be some one who is better than Rajkumar, be it in acting, public / private conduct, singing, interface with public. Because there is none.
We cannot have one more Rajkumar during our life times. We all should be fortunate that We lived in an era which also had Rajkumar.
Very difficult to continue as emotions are overtaking me and affecting my thought processess…

TO ALL UNGRATEFUL outsiders in Bangalore,
If u cant keep your mouth shut and cant stop wagging your tails, Just go back home… your north india has been the epitome of violence since the dawn of independence.
And there are people like “Basappa” who has been questioning about the “amount” that Raj should have paid donation. Raj was not an uncouth businessman or a politican to advertise every act of charity.
Have u read the Bhagavad Gita ? Lord Krishna refers to acts of charity done with pomp and show as an act of a lower status!
Basappa, how much ‘amount’ have u donated in charity ? Since u seem to keep count of the ‘amount’ donated , i wonder if your acts of charity would ever bear fruit.
And also I am not surprised by your disparaging comments. Your name speaks of your roots. DONT EVER forget your roots!

i saw in TV, The way people were behaving during the funeral was not the way to send the great personality like Dr. Raj to Rest in peace. at least people would have allowed to do the funeral properly by their family members. i think the family members themselves have not seen the body properly. No puja, nor any shastra’s was done, burning shops, vehicles or hurting people will not give peace to Dr. Raj, as he always used to address Kannidagas as ‘nanna abhimani devarugalu,’ when he had treated us as devarugalu, y we send him like that, i think tht was not fair on our part.

When the word “legend” doesn’t do sufficient justice……
If there is a person/phenomenon who comes close to characterizing the Kannada ethos, it is Rajkumar! His place in the Kannadigas’ collective consciousness will remain indelible.
I can’t forget my aunt’s die-hard adulation. The only time her traditional orthodoxy took a second place was when the topic touched Rajkumar. She never hesitated in taking a stand against the world if it meant saving Rajkumar from calumny, however small…. That is how his appeal was. Which was beyond reason and reached all classes.
If ever there was somebody, something that could induce some kind of mass-hysteria in this quiet community, the Kannadigas, it is Rajkumar! We’ve lost that shot of stimulus – for good/bad. Now we can go back to our natural dormancy.
I wish we see some soulful, scholarly write-ups — eulogies of some sort — in the general media, befitting Annavaru in the coming days.

When Veerappan captured Dr Rajkumar
http://ia.rediff.com/movies/2006/apr/19gopal.htm
Shobha Warrier | April 19, 2006 19:55 IST
Nakkeeran Gopal, Editor of the magazine Nakkeeran, was the emissary of the Tamil Nadu and Karnataka governments when Dr Rajkumar was abducted by sandalwood smuggler Veerappan in 2000. He was able to meet and interview the brigand in his forest hideout even while Veerappan avoided being located by the combined resources of large contingents of police from two states. Now, at Rajkumar’s death, Gopal recounts the various trips he undertook to rescue him, and his impression of the icon.
The abduction of Dr Rajkumar
“When I was asked to go as an emissary, I did not look at it as an honour; I was scared. I had not seen any of Rajkumar’s films, but I knew he was loved and respected by all and he was in the custody of a criminal. So, if something went wrong somewhere, I knew it would be disastrous for everyone concerned. Look at the kind of violence in Bangalore even though he died a normal death. If something were to happen to him while he was in the hands of a criminal, can you imagine how it would have been?
That is why I declined to go in the beginning. But then, I was under tremendous pressure from everyone, including the Rajkumar family, Kalaignar Karunanidhi, the Karnataka Chief Minister S M Krishna, Sivaji Ganesan and Rajnikanth. I was still undecided, but a phone call from my reporter in Bangalore made me change my mind. He told me, “The news has spread that you are refusing to go. All Kannadigas are angry.” The moment he said this, I agreed to go to the jungles.
Farewell, Dr Rajkumar
When we reached the jungle, myself and my group of people were made to sit in a hut for ten whole days. We could not meet either the Veerappan gang or Rajkumar. After ten days, Veerappan’s gang met us and took us with them. We walked for one whole day. Then, I was told we couldn’t meet Rajkumar. But I insisted we would look into their demands only after seeing Rajkumar as well as Veerappan. I just couldn’t see how we could go back without meeting Rajkumar. I had to make sure he was alive. Finally, they agreed to take us to him.
As we walked, from far off, I saw a man sitting cross-legged in white clothes. I knew it was Rajkumar and felt calm inside. The moment he saw us, he got up and did a pranamam. I touched his feet. What I felt then was akin to what one must feel after seeing a sage or rishi.
I first told him about the tension in Karnataka, and requested him to let me record a message that he was well. He spoke for five minutes in Kannada and Tamil, and I recorded it. I sent it through my reporter to the city without wasting any time. That night, I asked him about the abduction. He answered all my questions in very good Tamil. He told me then that his legs ached because he was made to walk around 10-15 kilometres every day — remember he was 72 years old then. I asked Veerappan to give him some medicine to relieve his pain. Should I bring some medicine when I come next, I asked him. Veerappan said there was no need, adding that they would take care of it. But Rajkumar wanted me to bring some medicine for his asthma trouble.
During my second visit, we were made to walk 40 kilometres before we met Veerappan. Again, he refused to let me meet Rajkumar, but I was adamant. He flatly refused saying Rajkumar was kept far away from the place where we sat. I suddenly noticed a man carrying a plate of upma, and realised Rajkumar was somewhere nearby. I said to Veerappan, ‘In this jungle, villagers say that Veerappan does not lie, but you are lying to me about Rajkumar being kept far away.’ That did the trick, and he agreed to take me to him.
As we walked, I asked my men to switch on the video camera. The moment Rajkumar saw us, he got up and started walking towards us. I walked even faster and touched his feet. He immediately hugged me tight, and there were tears in his eyes. I could spend only a couple of hours with him on my second visit.
But, during my third visit to the jungle, I spent 4-5 days with him. By then, he had completed 30 days in the jungle. It was then that I came to know him best. I must say he lived like a saint. The first thing he did after getting up was take a bath in the jungle stream. After towelling himself dry, he would practice yoga for nearly an hour. Even those who are half his age will not be able to do the yogic postures he did at that age. If he looked healthy then, it was only because of yoga. He also did a lot of meditation.
What impressed me most was the way he lived there. Whatever food was given to him by Veerappan’s gang, he would eat as if it were very tasty. He would wipe the plate clean, then ask for more. I never heard him complain about the food. It is amazing for a person used to excellent food at home. He could adjust to life in the jungle so well without any tension or complaint only because of yoga and meditation. I was also impressed by the love he had for his late mother. During my third visit, I was asked to bring a photo of his mother to him. When I gave him the photo, he held it close to his face and cried. He later told me a lot of stories about his mother, how she struggled to bring him up, etc.
During my fourth visit, Nagappa ran away and complicated everything. I had to talk to Veerappan continuously for eight hours to cool him down. When I went there for the fifth time, Rajkumar was so overwhelmed and he cried a lot. He told me, I am a Krishna bhakta. Now, you come as Gopalakrishna to help me. You are the reason I am alive today.’
I never meet him after he came back. He said in an interview that if it weren’t for Gopal, he wouldn’t have been alive. I feel fortunate to have met him and spent some time with him.”

Dear Sir,
The whole state plunged into darkness, after the demise of Dr. Rajkumar.
Bangalore, was engulfed in flames. Innocent lives taken. Buildings burnt. The reason: death of a beloved actor, Dr. Rajkumar. As we were helplessly, watching the ongoings in the city, a few things disturbed me a lot.
1. The national television channels calling the whole issue “The ‘South Indian’ idolisation of stars”…does that mean that this kind of idolisation exists only in south india, and the rest of the country is not bitten by this bug?
2. These channels portrayed the so called ‘faces of bangalore’ (read: page 3 crowd) on TV, who probably wouldnt have even been associated with this legend at any point of time in their whole life. Forget, being associated, i wonder if these ‘busy faces’, had even attended the funeral.
Was it sensationalisation or just Brand Building?

Steady stream of fans visit Rajkumar’s samadhi on 11th day
Even ten days after the end of Kannada thespian Rajkumar’s saga, the charisma of the icon only seems to grow by the day as his legion of fans from all over the state continue to throng the Kanteerava Studio Complex where he was laid to rest.
Despite the soaring mercury, a contiuous stream of his fans comprising the old, middle aged and even children go around the veteran’s samadhi carrying garlands of marigold and jasmine in their hands and fervour almost bordering on reverence in their eyes.
None of them is in a hurry to break the line, as each waits patiently for his turn to pay obeisance to a person “who was not only a great actor but a gem of a human being”, the fans feel.
The stoic, solemn scene is in sharp contrast to the one on the day of his funeral which was marred by an orgy of violence which claimed eight lives, including seven in police firing.
The frenzy was such on that day that family members had to complete the funeral rites under the cover of darkness.
As the fans partake of the “prasad” being offered to each and everyone, yesterday being the 11th day ritual of his death, organised by the family, the all pervasive sentiment is that of devotees coming out of a temple.
“He was God for us” says the 65 year-old frail looking Ramrao Adik who has travelled all the way from Bijapur in north Karnataka to pay homage to his “devaru” (god) on the 11th day.
Over 20,000 people have visited the Samadhi since morning, “and we are expecting more in the late evening hours”, says a police personnel, part of the posse keeping round the clock vigil over the place.
For 72 year-old Laxmibai who has come along with her 17 year-old grandson Raja, from Gadag, “it is like a pilgrimage.
After offering flowers on my annavaru’s (elder brother’s) samadhi, I feel my life’s journey is complete and I can die in peace”.
Uday, a 35 year-old lecturer in a private college in Bangalore, who is with his wife and three year-old son, says “it is my third visit to the samadhi along with my family. He was a value-based and disciplined person. By bringing my young son here, I feel he will imbibe at least some of the great qualities of Anna”.
Indeed this is an instance exemplifying ardent devotion to Rajkumar who had endeared himself to millions of his fans not only as an actor par excellence but also as a role model.
As one witnesses 70 year-old Madaiah, a farmer from Mandya going round the samadhi with the help of crutches, unstinted love and respect for the thespian is the uppermost thought.
Juxtaposing this scene of unequivocal love for their “superstar who was one of them” was one of abandon by the posse of police personnel who seemed to be weary doing their duty.
Some of them were seen catching an afternoon nap under a Shamiana, even as the fans paid their homage unmindful of the hot sun.
Life goes on despite all odds. For hordes of cart pushers selling watermelon, lime soda and ice-cream on the roadside near the Samadhi, “it has been brisk business from day one”.
“I am making a neat profit of Rs 50 per day, selling papaya and watermelons, thanks to Anna”, says Prashanth.
For 20 year-old Krishna, who sells photographs of the icon, “life has never been better”.
Over, 5,000 people visit the Samadhi every day, “from 8 amto as late as 11.30 pm” says Prasad, a sub-inspector.
The rush is more in the evening hours between five to seven pmas “when the place is lighted up, even curious passersby peep in”, he says.

An American, caucasian collegue along with a North Indian collegue, both up in management at my company that has offices in Bangalore asked me, ” Who is he? Why all the attention for just an actor? Our offices in India were closed.. why are people rampaging”? My overly learned North Indian Collegue chipped in” Well these south indians are very film crazy.. they worship their stars like in whats-his-name in Tamil nadu and Andhra.. no different here”. I couldnt take it anymore.. couldnt explain to a non-Kannadiga the importance of being Dr. Rajkumar to millions of fans, the adulance only he commanded from both the highly educated and the illeterate people of Karnataka. I tried to explain how he transended across all castes and communities across Karnataka, the beacon holder of our beloved Kannada, if not for him it would have been completely lost amongst the invasion of the rest of the country into the state. I listen to his devotional songs on many dieties for the last 15 years in the US. Listening him sing to “Yaaree koogadali” to this day makes me nostalgic, of a bygone era of kannada movies where we eagerly awaited his next movie. he will be dearly missed. may his soul rest in peace.

Well, for all those who think its only south Indians that worship stars, why do they forget the examples of people falling at feet of Neetish Bharadwaj( Who played Krisna in Mahabharata), Deepika (Who played Sita in Ramayana)just to mention a few, also peculaiar eg one of the person playing character an old aged lady in a hindi daily(Kyuki) being aksed for blessings by an older lady by touching the feer. Not to forget these serial icons made to the parliament though none of them never spotted inside. And lot of examples of many movie & serial stars making good use of publicity in their political careers. When people like Salman can get so much support(in North) I do’nt understand why is this intolerance towards Dr.RK & his companions . Is this not hypocrisy at its height?

Dr.Rajkumar’s unique contribution was his participation in the Gokak Agitation in 1982. It is 25 years.. still green in the memory of kannadigas.. It was the mass movement the Kanranataka watched after the Independent Struggle. People participated irrespective of their social and cultural backgroung.
A remarcable achievement made by Mr.B.S.Manohar and Mrs.Jayanthi Manohar in documenting the major happenings during the Gokak agitation is commendable. The clippings of their documentary film were shown in different programmes of E TV Kannada which included Ravi Belagere’s Crime Diary. This is the only remaining documentary of that great movement . I am sharing my real experience about Dr. Raj.
Firstly, Raj is neither my fren nor my relative.
I have almost all the devotional cassatas sung by Dr. Raj, but I have seen less than 10 movies of Dr. Raj.
Since so many years, I start the day by listening to at least one song.
To be frank, before listening to Raj’s songs, I was NOT liking him.
Every time I listen, I really experience the God, it is as good as doing meditation.
Especially, while listening to cassatas on Ganapathi, Udupi Sri Krishna and Mookambike, I have felt as if, God is about to appear. I have heard songs of other singers also, but the level of satisfaction is very very high with Dr. Raj.
Really I cried on the day of Raj’s death [ first time for a person other than my fren/relative ], he was about to sing for 6 more casstes, K Kalyan had finished lyrics for Sai Baba.
To be frank, I am not a mad fan/ uneducated/ violent type of fan. I like his devotional singing. He has made my life very happy. I really thank him.
I DON’T LOVE DR. RAJ SINCE I LOVE KANNADA/KANNADIGA, BUT I LOVE KANNADA BECAUSE OF DR. RAJ.
THANK YOU DR. RAJ FOR GIVING ME AN OPPORTUNITY TO EXPERIENCE THE GOD THROUGH DEVOTIONAL SONS.

why kannada cinema is lagging! the reasons are.
1.)one becoz of raj kumar as he introduced his sons as heros, where all 3 look ugly.that is why non kannadigas say kannada heros look ugly .look at telugu and tamil heros who are smart.
2.)another reason is compared to telugu and tamil kannada audience are smaller.telugu speakin population across the globe is more thhat 10 crores and tamil population is around 7-8 crores.but kannada population is only 5 crores
3.)ANOTHER REASON WHY KANNADA CINEMA IS LAGGING IS IN DISTRICTS OF BELLARY,HUBLI,TUMKUR,KOLAR ETC 50 % OF PEOPLE ARE TELUGUS(THEY ARE NOT MIGARANTS,THEIR NATIVE IS KARNATAKA,BUT MOTHER TONGUE IS TELUGU)
4.)ANOTHER REASON WHY KANADA CINEMA IS LAGGING WHEN COMPARED TO TELUGU AND TAMIL IS THAT THESE TELUGU AND TAMIL HAVE OUT SIDE STATE AND INTERNATIONAL MARKET
5.)telugu cinema today releases in andhra pradesh, karnataka, orissa, chennai, parts of t.nbangalore, mumbai, pune, chattisgarh etc.telugu movies also release in usa,uk,canada, germany, malaysia, singapore, australia, newzealand, ireland,
south africa,dubai,kuwait,uae,muscat etc
6.)tamil films release in t.n,karnataka, kerala, bangalore and tamil films are also dubbed to telugu and tamil films also have huge international market like telugu films
7.)the words “tollywood”(telugu cinema) and “kollywood”(tamil cinema)
also helped telugu and tamil movies to get international appeal.
8.)telugu and tamil cinema is next biggest cinema industries to bollywood
9.)most of the kannada people love to watch telugu movies to chiranjeevi, mahesh babu, pavan kalyan,jr NTR etc as kannadigas love mass cinema and telugu movie makers produce more of mass cinema.when a chiranjeevis movie release in bangalore it becomes a problem of law and order as the fans of chiranjeevi in bangalore create a lot of hype.
10.)in bangalore city tamil and telugu movies go with house full shows .will kannada movies.change the heros in kannada who look ugly.
11.)the market is growing for tamil and telugu cinema widely.
12.)today a telugu cinema collects 50 crores and tamil cinema also to 50 crores.ofcourse tamil cinema dont collect 50 crores,if not dubbed to telugu.

Almost all the posts say one thing: We Kannadigas are afraid to think. Aside from taking part in the Gokak movement what did this actor do for Kannada and Kannadigas? He was no genius, and his family used him to create a film mafia in Karnataka. The father-in-law of his daughterwas one of the most corrupt chief ministers of Karnataka; his stay in power would not have been possible without Muththuraj. Please stop telling us he could have had any political office in Karnataka. He had neither the ability nor the knowledge for a position like that.
As for his art, he was good at moving simple folks with his tear jerkers. All of you disciples, cite one movie of his that is world-class.

Unlike Kamal Hassan, Rajnikant and Chiranjeevi, he never tried his hand at other south Indian languages.
Kumaraswamy is saying how there will never be another Dr Rajkumar ever again.

The fact that we are all contributing to this post even after 2 years must say something about this great man. I am just back from my holidays to Hyderabad. Happened to visit NTR memorial and NTR gardens, so beautifully maintained by Andhrapradesh. Just couldn’t help compare our state and the plight of Dr. Raj’s samadhi in Bangalore. This reminds me of the writing by Sunaad Raghuram in ‘Churumuri’ about his experience when he visited Raj’s samadhi. We kannadigas have a long way to go before we wake up. Rajkumar’s family should do something about this. They can use their own money to build a memorial and a museum in his name. (of course there are millions of us who can contribute our penny’s worth also) If only, our politicians stop fighting among themselves and let his family start the work.

“Aside from taking part in the Gokak movement what did this actor do for Kannada and Kannadigas?”
Just could not resist. What did Annavru HAD to do for Kannada and Kannadigas? 200 odd films (majority of them good quality.. with many based on novels written by eminent Kannada writers) isn’t good enough?
Why do we have to ask these asinine questions about only Rajkumar? Why not ask what has Kumble done to Kannada? What has Kuvempu done to Kannada ?
(There is a reason I say Kuvempu…. many will get back at me saying he wrote some of the greatest literary works in Kannada… just as Raj gave some of the greatest films in Kannada).
Why is it that a successful person has to always DO something to be admired? Can’t we just enjoy his contribution to movies and leave it at that?

The comparison parameyer with Kuvempu used by Sandesh is illogical. Whether it was Kaanooru heggadathi or Ramayana Darshanam or Bralge Koral all of Kuvempu’s works were entirely his. Whereas in the case of Rajkumar he was only one part of the large acting and technical cast of a movie. The credit of kastoori nivasa should go to Rakkumar, Jayanti, GK Venkatesh , Chi Udayashankar, P susheela and above all to Dorai-Bhagawan in equal measure. Similarly in the case of Naandi, Ranadheera Kanteerava, Saakshatkara, Bhakta Kanakadasa or indeed Shankar Guru and Chalisuva modagalu.
In this sense the contribution of Rajkumar to the cause of Kannada is a more modest one than his abhimanis would make it out to be !

“Whereas in the case of Rajkumar he was only one part of the large acting and technical cast of a movie. ”
But his acting talent (whatever he had.. regardless of what you would think) was entirely HIS.. right ?
I’m saying judge Rajkumar for his talent and contribution to movies…
(by nature movies are a collective effort… but they do touch the individual as much as a writer does.)
“In this sense the contribution of Rajkumar to the cause of Kannada is a more modest one than his abhimanis would make it out to be !”
Please elaborate….
Still the question remains… what should he had done more ? And what specific contribution did Kuvempu make? What did Pampa, Ranna, janna et al make ?

I don’t see why other stars have to be demeaned in order to eulogise Dr Raj.
I am a huge fan of Dr Raj and have watched almost 95% of his movies. But, the above article does a poor job of reminding why Dr Raj is really a colossus in Kannada cinema. Here are some of my thoughts about comparing him with his contemporaries.
a) Amitabh did documentaries. So what ?
b) NTR and MGR tried to parlay their cinematic charisma into political fortunes. Nothing wrong with that ?
c) Prem Nazir did hundreds of movies. Ok, so in what way as an artist does that diminish him ? I am sure he got tired after a while…
d) Trying hands at other languages. Are people not aware that Rajkumar was a Tamilian and could speak excellent Tamil. SInce when is language a barrier for an artist ?
e) Never comfortable in English. I beg to differ. He may not have been Shakespeare, but he definitely mouthed several english dialogues.
Point is, I would rather have an article that is objective, informative and enlightening about Dr Raj. This would be the right way to remember and respect him rather than perform inane and subjective comparisons with his peers. Dr Raj is an icon NOT because he DIDN’T do documentaries or because he didn’t mouth English or because he didn’t act in 500 movies. They remember him for his stage presence, dialogue delivery, emoting aka his ACTING. He was also a decent human being, very humble, sincere and austere. Clearly, churmuri missed all these points.

Kuvempu was just critical of Madwa’s Muktiyogyaru, nityasamsari and naaraki.
He was not selling anything

Puttappa never read Madhwaachaarya for all his erudition in Samskrita. He came across a reference to the Tulu commentator in one of M. Hiriyanna’s works. We should all take another look at “Vichaararaanthige Aahwana.”
I don’t know the context in which the Aachaarya is supposed to have ascribed to shoodras the nithya naaraki status. If we do not try to be enlightened, have at least a glimpse at the complex truth that regulates or deregulates our lives, we are all naarakis.
Moorthipooje, whether we are talking about URA, KVP, or RK, stifles free thought.
Nodi swaami, naavu irode heege. If we have the time, we should read Parvathamma Rajkumar’s ghosted, self-enamoured autobiography serially published in the Kannadaprabha not long after the actor’s death.
As for my Mafia comment, Doddi Buddi has often elaborated on how the untalented offspring of the dead actor have colonised the Kannada movie industry. Sandesh was perhaps too young when Vishnuvardhan and Sundararaj spoke of giving up acting in the movies because of a senior actor’s determination that they were not going to be a threat to himself. For obvious reasons, they did not name the actor.

On going through DR. RAJKUMAR: 1930-2006, I felt that, some people who have given their comments against the Legend of Legends of World Cinema, Varanata Dr. Rajkumar & his 3 sons, is because of jealousy and hatred only. Since so many years, some of the people who are in the Kannada Film land, because of their jealousy about Dr. Rajkumar’s Fame, are spreading bad rumours about the Great Actor. Dr. Rajkumar is a gifted actor. Because of his handsome, talent and capacity to do variety of roles, no other actor could stop him to reach the present fame. In this site, whoever written against Dr. Rajkumar or trying to black mark his name, may note that, if you have any conscious feeling, you have to ask sorry before this forum. Then only you are considered to be a human being. Forget your state, language, caste etc. etc. and judge as an Indian, you will definitely agree that, DR. RAJKUMAR is the WORLD’S BEST. He is really KING of WORLD CINEMA. He is Star-Star-Superstar. The real Superstar. If you are not agreeing to the TRUTH, arrange for a WORLD DEBATE on who is the WORLD’S BEST ACTOR (This debate has to be telecasted through all the TV Channels of the World), I make known to the whole world as to “DR. RAJKUMAR IS THE WORLD’S BEST”. The concept of VISHWAMAANAVA is of KUVEMPU. But, the VISHWAMAANAVA is undoubtedly DR. RAJKUMAR.

I absolutely agree with Yogi…….. ! dont understand y people live in imaginary world like cinema etc as though that Rajkumar as sacrified his life for our Country.
Those are called as real Hero’s who scarified their life for the country or lived only for our Country.
Coming to Raj kumar- He is just an Actor who makes movie and gets Lots Crores of money out of it and its his occupation too…………………..
May might be good by heart or worked for the betterment of Kannada etc but overall the way people reacted towards his death by tone throws, road blockages and numerous other public nuisance etc. some people has been killed, injured , whether these unwanted activities were required ?
Don’t understand why people treat Movie Actors/Actress as Gods or Real Hero……… Totally Crap!

Dear Friends,
Because of COMMENTS from worst people like jeeva, the Kannada Film Industry has become sick. What ever he has said is nonsense.
If any film actor to be called as legend, it is Dr.Rajkumar only. Aaaaay…….jeeva, talk to your heart sincerely, you will ask for excuse in this website for whatever you said about the legend of legends, Varanata Dr.Rajkumar. Such comments by jealous people, that too about Dr.Rajkumar should not be published in churumuri. The concept of Vishwamanava is of Dr.Kuvempu and Dr.Rajkumar is Vishwamanava.
I request churumuri to publish my website about Dr.Rajkumar, which is as given below.
