The first fissures have appeared in the JD(S)-BJP coalition government. The state BJP president D.V. Sadananda Gowda's comments on the appointments made by the JD(S) to the boards and corporations have provoked a furious response from the Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, who says if he is ready to go to the polls.
Although both parties are now trying to back-pedal, the controversy has thrown a big question mark over the durability of the government.
