Only two Indians figure in Time magazine’s list of the 100 people whose “power, talent or moral example is transforming our world”. They do not figure among the artists & entertainers, scientists & thinkers, leaders & revolutionaries, or heroes & pioneers.
The two Indians are among builders & titans. And they are Vikram Akula, whose SKS Microfinance dispenses loans on smart cards, and Nandan Nilekani, the Infosys chief.
Admittedly, this is just some American weekly magazine’s list. Probably it’s more of a marketing venture than an editorial enterprise. And, of course, it is subjective. Still, what does it say of India as a country that no hero, no scientist, no thinker, no leader figures in it?

India is generally poor financially and technically. A country that is poor financially and technically can NOT introduce to the world heroes, scientists, thinkers, or leader figures, because simply — though they actually exist — nobody would introduce them to the big world, so they remain unknown.
Let’s admit this: We don’t invent or innovate. All we do it copy… and even that’s of low quality.
