Brijesh Patel has had a free run ever since he dislodged C. Nagaraj as the secretary of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA). None of the players, none of the clubs, none of the factions have had the guts to take on Patel and his cabal, who have turned Karnataka cricket into a joke in the name of "player power".
But with Jagmohan Dalmiya gone and Sharad Pawar in, a powerful lobby has been emboldened to try its luck. Efforts are on to convince a prominent Kannadiga cricketer to take on Patel and end his Raj. The cricketer has also sent positive vibes. Who is the cricketer?
Vishy????….any other guesses?
Is it Srinath OR Prasanna?
Chandra…………..who else marayre?
The rumour going around bangalore for the last few months is that namma maisura raja kumara odeyar mahashayaru is being tipped for the post !
Any takers ?
The astonishing part of Brijesh Patel’s tenure is that Karnataka’s performance in the Ranji Trophy has become progressively worse. If a non-cricketer like C. Nagaraj could see two or three Ranji titles in Karnataka’s kitty, what is preventing player Patel from this pleasure? Or does it take more than cricket skills to make cricket successful? Knowing the mindset of “prominent Kannadiga cricketers”, the only person I can think of who will be able to take on Patel and defeat him is Anil Kumble, but then he is too young and still playing.
The best person would be sadanand vish…. at least he would try to reduce the beer rates at the KSCA club house
binny aagbahudalla
I think there is too much politicking going on in KSCA to be able to provide any outputs in terms of wins in the Ranji tournament. The whole system needs a overhaul. I would think AV Jayaprakash would be better guy to run the show.
Vinay,
I think defamation is uncalled for. What a person does in his personal capacity is up to him, and by extension his immediate family. Not for anyone else to comment about.
KP,
Regarding this topic, Prasanna has settled in Calcutta. Chandra & Vishy are apolitical. The rest are not prominent. A prominent Kannadiga cricketer need not be a prominent Karnataka cricketer. My guess would be Ravishankar Jaidith Shastri. He has the chutzpah, political savvy, charisma, connections and balls to do it.
QM,
I am not sure if Shastri would be interested in the KSCA or the KSCA in him. A role in the BCCI perhaps might interest him, but Shastri & KSCA is definitely a no, no.
My guess would be Prasanna or Vishwanath. KP says efforts are on to convince the cricketer. So clearly the cricketer has not yet jumped in to the fray. Probably he has been apolitical so far but no one can predict the future.
Hi,
The man is no more with us who can take on Brijesh patel.
but GR Viswanth would be the ideal candidate.
I think it is Srikanta dutta Narasimha raja wodeyar. Gossip is going on he is probaby contest against the Brijesh Patel in the next KSCA election.
Ask a silly question and you get silly answers! So who is the better alternative to B P Patel? The S Vishy suggestion was hilarious!
Guys, GRV is too busy with Golf and Syed Kirmani is incompetent. Javagal is the kannadiga who made some noises but he is more keen on commentary, becoming India bowling coach etc. Prasanna lives in Bangalore but never been involved in much admin work.
The Mysore Mahrajah is a contender, but I doubt he is the right candidate. Looks like there is no better alternative to Brijesh Patel.
I think Javagal Srinath would be the best person, and i am sure he is interested.
