Do journalists have the right to gatecrash into the emergency room of a private hospital? Are they allowed to shoot pictures of patients without the permission of the hospital authorities or the patients and their next of kin? Does such an intrusion by journalists amount to an invasion of privacy? Is barring journalists from such trespass an attack on the freedom of the media? Should those who are supposed to report news become the news themselves? Can journalists serve as trustees of temples and other public bodies without inviting charges of conflict of interest?
All very pertinent questions these, and they all come to us courtesy a quite amazing incident in Udupi recently.

TV Journalists or print journalists, no one has right to enter ICU or operation area at hospitals. Paparazzi may cross limitations to make money. Journalists are expected to practice good journalism, not to make money and (site).

Electronic and print journalists have no right to enter ICU, operation theatre and certain other restricted wards, in the name of freedom of the media, unless permitted by the concerned speciality doctors. Their or any other persons entry into such wards may pose danger the lives of the patients undergoing treatment there. Freedom of the press does not mean a journalist can enter anywhere or write anything. Whatever he does should be in the interest of the community/society. Freedom carries along with it responsibility also.

Truth is always bitter. And blogger did a right thing by exposing the “psuedo” journalists who took nude photos inside the hospital. They must be punished.
Press freedom is not just taking nude photos.

These days there are no journalists in India. The so-called tribe is full of fixers, scamsters and influencers. Somebody practising true journalism is a myth.
Since I lived in Manipal for 3 years, I have come across journos of Udupi who never knew what journalism is/was. A press conference ends up in chamchagiri.
Moreover, this udupi…blah blah blog looks very vicious to me. The person behing this venture doesnt look genuine. Another slander campaing? We’ll wait and watch.

i felt very bad about churumuri for carrying this story. the udupi press victim is dubious blog to blackmail journalists. yes it is right to discuss many ethical issues. but taking that as cover udupi blog is trying to create havoc. this is just to save the face of acharya and son. everybody knows Astro Mohan is the brain behind this blog. astro is relative of acharys and again sangh parivar journalist.
everybody knows the photograph taken by umesh marpalli about hajabba of adi udupi was an eyeopener.this irked the sangh parivar and tje journalists of the same tribe.
let’s discuss udupi journalism and try to draw a line how media should behave. but blackmailing each and every journalist in the name of ethics needs condemnation. we have high regards for churumuri. let it try to read between the lines and behind the lines.

All great questions! Thanks for covering that blog – from the above comments by Mohan (Is that you Mr.Mohan Nambiar) and Mediabus it is evident that some soft spots within journalists have been hit.
While it is good to discuss ethics as raised by churumuri’s post, we should also look into all other allegations against journalists of Udupi. Afterall the blog has provided proof on their involvement in various scams.
When journalists demand honesty and transparency from others, why can’t they be transparent themselves. Or do they have lot of things to hide?

i went through the link-udupi press victim. by this churumuri has directed us to a serious debate. after going through the entire blog i came to know that it is dedicated to takeon anybody who cross the ethics line.
in udupi case who has crossed line whether the doctor-v.s. acharya’s son or the journalists. the blog is speaking on behalf of acharya and up in arms against journalists. the blog is repeatedly speaking the two journalists were there in hospital to take nude photos. here the question is the blog told-we believed.
whether anybody know the real intention. why the blog should not have cooked up the whole story as cover up. if it is not cover up-
1. why it is not speaking anything about the doctor-who manhandled journalists?
2.why acharya’s son is not arrested even after he he figures in FIR
3.how the blog comes to know that hai marutha and other tabloids coverage much earlier than it is published?
4.how this blog can announce that it is going to write on a particular journalist soon- whether this wont remind us the namesake blackmailing tabloids?
let’s discuss. discuss to cleance the dirty media world.

Journalist always support fellow journalist no matter if he is thief or pervert.
PCI clearly mentions rules and ethics of journalism. But journalists never follow them. In this case journalists entered ICU and took nude photos of patiens. If this happens in US , patient can sue journalists in MILLIONS of dollars..
One of the above poster looks like member of communist party of India. He is so pessimistic being journalist..he talks about going to temple and taking nude photos. HE IS REAL PERVERT or PSYCHO. He needs immediate medical attention..

It is sad to see how some comments are personal attacks on Acharya and Dr.Kiran. Both are professional doctors who have made name in their fields. Dr.Acharya even though is a minister runs clincs in rural areas for poor patients.
Dr.Kiran Acharya is a reknowned orthopaedician and a thorough professional who has specialized in many complicated surgeries and has made a name for himself not just in Coastal Karnataka but has patients coming from Goa, Kerala.
Keeping all personal issues aside, I suggest we respect their professional achievements instead of writing nasty comments anonymously.

Dear people belonging the region, everyday you wake up in the morning and wait anxiously to read newspaper to find something good, but you will find no good news in the paper!. Alas! All bad news most of it road accidents how can we avoid this, many people die, we should stop people die on roads because they do not die a natural death they die because of the negligence of the politicians who were supposed to widen the road network of Udupi, Kundapura, Mangalore. These politicians are not worthy to be elected for the next election they are the main cause of destruction. Who is politics we are politics. who is government we are government that’s what the constitute says. But reality is not we. If we had to govern the state, the roads of Udupi wouldn’t have been this condition, since the 3 years these roads have become worst day by day why? Reason perhaps the heavy laden trucks of ore! Plying day & night ploughing digging demolishing & ruining NH 17 from Kundapur to Mangalore. Due to this bad road codition many lives lost since the past years.
We are living now; we are supposed to rise up for the cause. Those who lost their life on these Rd will pray some day others will not loose their life. We do remember that old age proverb “Manasiddalli margvide”
If we see our journalism is not influenced because so many pleas, strikes, yatra, darani etc did not work because our journalist just used to make mockery by writing someone (girl)ran away, a story of two ilicit lovers! animal transpotred, activists stop tempo with animals. here pooje there jatre, habba etc. but in north India no journalist is bothered about such news. Real news is reality Udupi news is all corrupt. if the prosperty is deserved you need a good Road.
Accodring to elders the Kalsanka Udupi road was 12 feet wide during 1940. It is the same now, although there were only a dozen vehicles for the whole district then and now more than laks or millions!

The international flight had landed just a week back and already made successful trips. People are expecting Mangalore & Udupi to boom. Only things that boomed were the rounds of tear-gas lobbed in some places as also the rounds of fire aimed in the air to scare the mobs.
Many entrepreneurs are planning to invest in Mangalore…but in this situation, will they be ready?
Bajrang does not want Region to grow they do not want multi national companies to invest here more of all they hate burgers and coke. Lets find out the root cause of this problem. This is hate between communities incited by DK & Udupi districts party’s and some popular news print mediums The rumor evening news in Udupi and Mangalore contribute wrong signal by publishing each and every news coverage of cattle running or slaughter house. Astonishingly there are no such evening news bulletins in other parts of Karnataka they mushroom in Udupi more.
If this situation continues with ones decision for others, you follow my Veg diet, unless the Govt finds a solution for the people to satisfy with who eats what? Moreover, provide them with imported meat or supply from other states instead local slaughter. Import would be a subsidized commodity in lieu with WTO’s free trade protocol.
If political parties decide and control for their ambitions, and deprive people of their carnivorous fundamental rite, which had evolved since Humans, were a wanderer and hunter for millions of years, alas this will be doom for the region. Resulting neither industry nor tourism would flourish!
