VIJAY M.R. writes from Bangalore: Just a couple of weeks ago, a survey done by Reader’s Digest that termed Mumbaikars the rudest people on earth was making news.
In the aftermath of the horrendous train blasts, one is seeing the real side of the megapolis. People helping each other, opening up their houses, sharing their food, donating blood.
If this doesn’t convince people that saying “Thank You” and holding the door open are not the only things that measure the quality of people, then nothing else will.
As a Bangalorean, I am proud that I am a fellow countryman of Mumbaikars. What spirit!

As Indians, I think the best in us comes out in times or crisis and when we are abandoned by an uncaring and incompetent government….
Be it the tsunami, or floods, or even this horrific attack, Mumbaikars, like Indians elsewhere put self aside and throw themselves wholly to the aid of fellow Indian.

If’ Readers’ Digest’ Cannot digest the way Mumbai / India lives, or has Dysentry or loose motion, It should try Alka Setzer or Eno Fruit Salt! At lease its acidic belching will stop,if nothing else!
