At Google, if it isn’t fun, it isn’t worth it

Eleven gourmet restaurants, a barber shop, massage stations, pool tables, gymnasiums, volleyball courts, doctors on call 24X7, the freedom to bring your pet to work. These are but some of the many perks of working for Google in Mountain View, California, and little wonder they are Fortune magazine’s “best company to work for”.

“Who says,” asks the good samarITan who forwarded this YouTube video of an NBC clip, “IT companies are boring places to work.” But the bigger question is not if Indian companies can match this (they can) but can they ever fathom the idea of employees of having so much fun, five or six days a week, not just for a designated hour every weekend.

“They are having fun? Then they must goofing off from work.”
