In this YouTube video, the writer, blogger and broadcaster Abdul Rasheed speaks on the wonderful humanism of K.P. Poornachandra Tejaswi, who passed away this afternoon.
In a throwback to Henry David Thoreau a la Walden, Tejaswi chose to live in the warm embrace of nature in Mudigere, and unlike most writers, loved pottering around with his car and motorcycle, cooked with relish, and never hesitated to get his hands dirty, dealing with farmers’ issues and the environment.

Thoreau? Do even know the stature of the writer you’re comparing this dead guy to?

All respect to the venerable writer… I think we have very less exposure to his books in the media and more book reviews or perhaps a site dedicated to it would serve a good purpose.
After watching the video above, I was suprised to know that being a naturalist, he cooked (and so presumably ate) meat and fished. His abilities of concentration and single-mindedness is really appreciable no doubt.
With all due respect, I beg to disagree with the comparison with Thoreau, who was not a strict vegetarian but over time gradually phased it out. This is what Thoreau had said about fishing:
And this is what he had to say about meat eating in general…
May Sri PoornaChandra find peace and happiness in his onward journey!
Dear Rasheed,
I saw your vedio on tejawi’s death. It was very appealing; especially when you said that you protest against the “Kala” which snatched Tejaswi from us.It is the feeling of all those who were attracted towards his literature (I consider myself one among the many “abhimaani”s of Tejaswi) like me.
WRT # ItZMe : DO YOU KNOW THE STATURE OF THE PERSON WHOM YOU ARE REFERRING TO AS ” DEAD GUY”
