Soft. Mild. Docile. Laidback. ‘Hogili bidi‘. Not aggressive. Not ambitious. ‘Swalpa adjust maadi‘. Lacking in drive. ‘Naanu aaythu, nannadu aayuthu?’
Is Karnataka’s moderate weather the prime reason why Kannadigas are like this only? Are we a people which has perfected the art of ooo-ma-he? Or have we developed a stupendous inferiority complex by always looking over our shoulder at our Telugu and Tamil brethren and ‘cistern’?
Podcast courtesy: zenveda
Laidback attitude ..all that is fine .
The caption for this POD is ‘IS KANNADA a DYING LANGUAGE’
Can someone count the kannada words used in this conversation and the english. Its more of a english with a horrible accent pepperred with kannada words . If these morons speak like kannada would probably die today .
First try conversing in kannada and then speak about kannada .
First make an effort towards being a kannadiga then you would recognize the fellow kannadiga .
KP , yellinda hidkond bandhree yee ‘KodangigaLanna’ Bari yaaru kannadadhavru kannadigarigaagi yenu madolla annodhu kelasthu .
there was never a mention about what these guys did for fellow kannadigas. because of these specimans that we are losing the identity of kannadigas and the language kannada . Bari Prathiste .
yeah the bengalis spare a bagchi are in danger. the rajasthanis, the oriyas ,the assamese, the marathis, even the keralites are in grave danger. the manipuris, the goans, the uttaranchalis, the santhals and himachalis stand no chance, not unless they get atleast two guys to head an IT company or atleast an IT project.
ahh!! stereotype peddling humbug!!!
saar please be an entrepreuner because you want to entrepreune. kannadador uddhaara ought not to be the motive saar.
you think uDupi restaurant became famous because of it’s cuisine?
you think kannada finds circulation in goa, puNe & bambai because of its grammar?
btw what has this talk got to do with kannada and its going the sanskrit way? & who pray is a telugu or tamil cistern?
this problem with people of karnataka is not knew,it has a history, because we were divided lot, right from british time immedieatly after tippus downfall.karnataka was divided by british giving nothern part to marathis and east to nizam and coastal to tamils(madras).the land with tthe mysore king witnessed sole development and other regions getting step motherly treatment even after unification.
this led to exodus of people from other states to karnataka. one thing i would like to mention is my own experience, when i first came to bangalore from mangalore, tamil people used get treated well in bangalore and prefered than myself in many instances.
Blaming Moghuls from them on to British would not wash.
If one looks back from 1950s , from Kengal Hanumanthiah, the problems were with the Mysore /Karanataka governments from the outset. If only Kengal had put his foot down and insisted that Kannadigas should given preference for jobs in indutries and organisations then coming up ( state or central as every other state did) in the state, Kannadigas would not have been taken for a ride. The Madras goverment then was busy involved with border problems with Andhra and Kerala saw the ridse of communists in the state and then was the time for Kengal to put a marker about Kannadigas for jobs in Karnataka. When the state was unified, CMs like BD jatti took care of his brethern from uttara Karanataka, and lost sight of what was happening to the rest , from the then Old Mysore.
My Observation .
There was this mail which was going around what happens when two kannadigas meet . This POD conversation establishes how two kannadigas converse when they meet .
Does using extensive english in your conversation when both know kannada make you a ‘INTELLIGENTSIA’ ?
I completely agree with the first comment on the post .With your conversation it is very clear that kannada as a language will die soon .
I have also seen Husband and Wife conversing the same way as these two ‘Brihaspathis’ .How can you expect your kid to learn kannada?
DG,
Nanoo thumba Aanglabhashele mathanadtheeni. BayibeDi budhi. :)
I think these are dynamic times. Kannada and kannadigas have to evolve and hence Kannada will observe words from other languages. This cannot and should not be stopped since this is a natural process. It’s important that individuals progress and hence our goal should be to learn and adapt to changing nature of the world around us. I am not sure how Kannada as a language fares with scientific notations and words.
Opinions expressed about kannadigas being given preference in jobs are ridiculous. Every Indian should have the freedom to work in any place in within the country. That way merit will be victorious not your background. Instead we should build the best education centers in Karnataka so that people are well educated to work not only in Karnataka but everywhere.
Goutham
In a Utopian world, merit alone should be the criterion. The issue is not with Kannada able/unable to cope with scientific notations and words–rather employment to Kannadigas even at unskilled jobs and at skilled-level category. The champions of ‘freedom to work as they wish’ are only found in Karnataka. Ever wonder why, this is so? :)
Problem is a majority of kannadigas (and coorgi, tulu, konkani people), believe in family planning and practise population control. This is so even among people who are not economically well off (and it is improving with time).
This doesnt seem to be so for natives from some other states. So freedom of work will only lead to people from Karnataka being swamped by the ones who breed indiscriminately. So it is not just about merit – it is about being overrun by hordes of outsiders who have exhausted the resources in their homeplaces (or not created any opportunities near where they live) and come looking elsewhere. Desparate people.
@Doodi Buddi
Its not true that kannadiga’s are the only people who are liberal.Do you know of how many kannada ppl are working outside the state in fact outside the country …would they like to face discrimination in other places?
@Anonymous Guy
Please go to mumbai and see how many kannadigas are there..Dont you think that many kannadigas have benifitted from the IT revolution. I think it happended in bangalore because we are a fair and open society..we welcomed many institutions and ppl from all over…We should be proud if it…Abt population growth…thats complete nonsense…we seem to have a inherent inferiority complex..You seem to have a limited meaning of “Outsiders”…who are these outsiders we r talking abt?tamils, telegus, etc….haha they r not outsiders they are indians…
Goutham . Your concept about Indian and Indianess is welcome and appreciative .If the same rule applies to one and all .
Till recently there was this Bong as HR manager in SAP India . Every team had 2-3 Bongs now he left and we have now the mallu Manager..the Mallu santhana is creeping up .
Sadly it doesnt happen with kannadigas .They only Lament like the two useless characters chatting on the Pod cast .
Dheerendragopal
I agree abt you SAP manager …thats discrimination and thats COMPLETELY wrong. But you know what I guess if you ask him about that he will have a different version…his will be hey my ex manager was a tamil…and hence his team was full of tamils…so may be its all in our minds…i am not sure if statistically we kannadigas have an unsually low employment rate:)
Le Goutham, Nija helu neenu yelli avanu? ‘We kannadigas’ anthiyalla, aadhare horgadeyavan thara maathaadthiya. Yelliavanu neenu?
BTW I have never heard anyone complain ‘My manager from Karnataka is forcing kannadigas on our team’. ‘My teammates from Karnataka gang up on me’. That happens elsewhere. And that is the reason the IT boom has happened in Bangalore and not in Patna. And that is the attitude that is being misused by some other overbreeders who dont believe in family planning.
Every effort made to push some candidates through kannadiga owned company has failed for me in US. I somehow find the whole passion missing .Looks like kannadigas dont like kannadigas or dont like another kannadigas anywhere near them ( Atleast here in US ) . All that you get if an unfriendly nod ( not even a smile ).
Lo Anonymous Guy nanu malleswaram bengaluru avannu but irodu US alli….But see why do suspect that I am not a kannadiga? it should not matter….Thats my exact point…that “WE” are honest ppl…i am not saying that nobody else is not antha…but we should be proud if it…Bangalore is not the only place with with so called outsiders in india….I also think that we should encourage our culture…for some that may be kannada language..for some it may be something different…whats all this complaining that we are weaklings..we r looking over the shoulders.we r not aggresive…ask any poor tamil guy that when those kaveri riots were taking plce….it does not make sense…
Person of my vintage knows well that the argument that ‘merit alone should prevail’ were applied to vacancies when ITI, HMT, BEL, NGEF and CFTRI needed engineers and scientists. But on closer examination, the above concept came mainly from non-kannadiga managers of these companies. But at the same if you had looked at who they were recruiting say in Integral Coach Factory, Avadi Tank factory nad BEML in Tamil Nadu in 1960s and 70s you would not see a single Kannadiga called for interviews then. The acid test is look for newspapers and magazines in newsstands in cities. Even in Chennai, one would be hard-pushed to find Kannada Newspapers and magazines even in major outlets in Anna Salai, but any small newspaper shops in Malleswaram carry almost all Tamil newspapers and magazines.
When I returned to Mysore from studies in USA in mid-1970s ( there were no IT companies then in Bangalore/Mysore), no Kannadiga managers in any of the big companies were interested even in seeing me with the exception of Sir C V Raman’s son who was then the director of Raman’s institute. I got the impression, these so called kannadigaa managers in high positions were very reluctant to recruit fellow kannadigas for some reason who was best known to only them. With the result I have spent the last 30 years in Europe, and have never been happier in my life.
true Mr.Ranga .
Whenever we approach a kannadiga in a high position/ owned company.
They always want to distant and never even want to converse in kannada. They feel that someone might ask them an unfair favour.
I always see young people from Andhra staying in a single house helping each other until one is placed in a company .They even help financially till their native person gets a decent Job.
Dear All,
Perhaps now you can all relate to my comments on NRN’s ostrich act as far as recruiting Kannadigas are concerned!
Let me give you a scenario on why kannadigas are not so passionately recruiting / kannadigas dont passionately seeking jobs.
I have been working as a manager in a large IT concern, where I find requests pouring in for favours into getting the IT job from relatives and friends, Even I have been keen on getting them here, but there is big communication gap or nonpassionate people with lame requests. Some of those who approached me for jobs thru their fathers/mothers did not show interest in sending their resumes for many weeks to come, but instead i would be reminded by their fathers / mothers that I have to do some thing… I would defend that “Well !! your son/daughter has to send the resume first”. Even if they send in they dont want to work in any job/role for first time and have high expectation, they wouldnt even bother to followup on this.. Kannadiga means very PROUD, TOTAL GIVEUP and Thick headed guys…
I have 2 colleague/ peer who are also managers here.. One is from Punjab and other from Tamilnadu, I can say the Tamil Manager is very enthu guy and so passionate… Similiar he asks me to interview the candidates he refers also but there is a lot of difference in the candidates he has refered …. They keep following up and come up very promptly for interviews and feel so grateful to the Tamil manager… The address him as “Anna!!” and as if he was their real elder brother… and also they do well in the interviews and for them getting a job in Bangalore means “THE BEST THING THAT HAS HAPPENED IN THEIR LIFE”.
So certainly Kannadigas should give up the false prestige and accept and work towards their goals by respecting and coming out of their shell.. There are many small things that can build integrity.. and work as community.
We dont even invite our neighbours during festivals because of “PRECONCIEVED NOTION THAT THEY MIGHT BE OUTSIDERS OR NOT SUITABLE”
In bangalore nowadays I find it normal if they speak kannada in kannada TV channels but I find it really surprising if I find people speaking in Kannada in Major Malls and cinema theatres and public places..
we can partially agree Mr.Badhukuu since you have exagerrated a bit
They always want to distant and never even want to converse in kannada
.
As a fresher in industry – I avoided Kannada – simple becuase – I did not give any chance to my seniors/Managers to speak to me in ‘singular’. I still refuse to speak to anyone in regional language at work – English does not have plural or singular.
I manage/own a Company – with a team of 14 members. And Yes – full of Kannadigas and majority from Mysore!. My team listen to Music when they work – from Mungaaru male to Gandhadha guddi!.
Those who say that Kannadigas are not given preference in recruitment should provide statistics of how many Kannadigas are actually attending interviews in Engineering Colleges campus recruitment. In other words, what is the ratio of Kannadigas/non-Kannadigas among Engineering College students??
Because I know of many North Indians/ Andhra people who have studied in KA engg colleges and are workin here in Bangalore with me.
So if there is no source of Kannadiga engineers, should IT companies be blamed?
The person who wrote the first kannada dictionary was not a kannadiga.
Language promotion in this environment…
flood of langauges, job requirement, capacity of the human brian to understand and pioneer in a single or few subjects, domination of film industry driven by commercial interests….
All langauges are slowly being reduced to means of day to day communication ,…
Kannadigas are humble, soft and mild like water. But they will wear out even the biggest rocks in their path. Jai Karnataka !
I believe that this topic is completely in the wrong spirit to begin with. This vein of discussion has not initiated any constructive thought but instead has just provided another venue for mud slingging amongst ourselves. Such pessimistic reflections are so abundant on the web that it can indeed be quite a turn off. The title should have been “what can a Kannadiga do for the betterment of our language and culture?”. As they say “change starts with you”. If each one of us can do a little deed that can further our general cause then I am sure we can make a difference. Here are simple ways that I have come up with to sustain continual use of Kannada in my day-to-day living (nothing over-zealous or ambitious … but just baby steps :-) ) – Here are some pointers
– Know your own story well – Buy and read kannada books and genuinely develop a love for it. Its not that hard really! I have recently started doing this and am thoroughly enjoying the experience .. its a whole new world right in my backyard! Each great novel I have read so far has enthralled and thrilled me in ways that I had not imagined. I can’t believe I missed out on all this for so many years!!
– Use your languauge(in my case kannada) – I have recently started writing letters / emails in kannada to my near and dear ones … although I had a slow start I have found that its more satisfying and that I can express much better. Continual use of the language is the only way it will survive. So, stop preaching and start practising.
– Active Participation – Attend / organize cultural functions and programs and showcase kannada culture and language. I have started volunteering at a Kannada development origanization. I give as much time to the cause as possible, despite being occupied with a full time job.
I am sure many others will have many other ideas in additions to the few I have mentioned above. :-)
Feel free to share your ideas and thoughts.
Thanks,
Kannada kudi.
The konkanis, kodavas, tulus all have a distinct identity.so does northern karnataka. The lingayats and vokkaligas do not jell.In AP and TN,inspite of caste differences, they have parochial attitudes. At least now JD(S) and BJP have come together.Other dravidas are anti-national.
Also i believe the social structure in coastal karnataka is different. The madhvas have problems with lingayats. In other suthern states the non-brahmin leadership is unitedly anti brahmincal.so nairs,tamil/telugu brahmins have found refuge in bangalore/mysore.Hebbar/mandayam iyengars draw their inspiration from tamil land.Sringeri is as far from chauvinism as you can think of.
Tamil iyers/iyengars form a more cohesive group. The kannada brahmanas are divided as tulus/desasthas/konkanis.The non-brahmin leadership is not anti-national.This puts karnataka at a disadvantage.
Hi, I happened to attend a carnatic music concert in the US arranged by one indian organisation. The majority of the people attending happened to be kannada speaking. One thing I really observed was that very few people among the audience ( or crowd) did really have any idea about the music. This definitely told me that we reallly don’t have the depth when it comes to culture. I totally agree with you that kannadigas are a nice race but today there’s a big cultural and intellectual void which is getting bigger and bigger everyday. I as a kannadiga can only hope that this problem that we are facing today is taken as an inspiration to help us deepen our thinking and work towards understanding our own culture and the rich legacy. Without understanding our culture there is no way we can deepen our intellect.
Santhosh
It is true that kannadigas lack the drive and are not proud of their language and culture. I am working in an IT firm in US and see lot of people from India come as consultants, not one among them is a Kannadiga. I see hindi, telugu, tamil, gujarati and bengali people but not a single kannadiga. I always eagerly look for a kannadiga but no. All these people speak in their own languages and I always see a tamil person doing an international conference call loudly in Tamil in the office. I really appreciate his love for the language. Even one or two kannadigas I happen to meet like to speak either in English or Hindi but not in Kannada. Really I am puzzled at what is causing this inferiority complex?
it is a shame that in bangalore there are only few kannada conultants working in bangalore where as 80% of other language persons are working by producing fake certificates. its a shame on the companies
I am a Kannadiga and although I grew up outside of India I have always wondered where the Kannada people were and why they never asserted their identity. I live in the US now and I don’t have much hope that I can proudly showcase my heritage to my kids even I though I married a Kannadiga. It is sad. We will only be read about in history books and a few decades, if not sooner, we will all be assimilated in to other groups. Ultimately we have to belong to some group. The only way I would be proved wrong is if the Kannadigas stood up now and did something about the outright bias and apathy shown to their culture and heritage.
Be proud of yourself and assert yourself ! You have been hospitable to the kicked outs of TN (like me).
We the kannadigas are not only hospitable to kicked outs of TN, but also malayalis, telugu, marvadis and many more. Those who are extremely poor and extremely rich make bengaluru their home and don’t ever want to leave the place. It is interesting that Infosys was closed for ‘Onam’, but not for any kannada festivals, the reason being there are many many keralites in Infosys. I was a guest in the Mysore campus of Infosys. I was told that lots of malayali movies (in addition to hindi) are played in the multiplex theatre. Except for ‘mungaru maley’ hardly any kannada movies are shown. There are some great great kannada movies that can be shown to our fellow indians. But first, the kannadigas have to start watching kannada movies.
I personnally feel very bad at such an attitude of people of karnataka, not very kannadiga has this attitude but most of them take things for granted ( for whose sake ).
Even tough i am an Iyengar who speaks Tamil at home, my family has been a part of Bangalore for more than one hundred years. I feel more a Kannadiga because i speak, read and write this language and do not know how to read and write tamil. First of all, Karnataka should legislate that kannadigas should be inducted into jobs with the exclusion of others – unless they learn Kannada. Canada has an immigration system where one must show profeciency in English, through a written test like the ELTS and even French. If you do not know these languages, the only other way you can entre is to be a refugee. We in Karnataka made some progress in bringing out the Sarojini Mahishi report, but do not have the guts to implement it. It is not difficult. Already the BDA needs you to prove your residency in Karnataka if you want a housing site.
What is the conribution of IT to Bangalore?
It killed the kannada language and culture, made Kannadigas native refugees. It filled the roads with vehicles. After all only 6% of Kannadigas are getting jobs in IT companies. Kannadigas are not getting jobs even in the construction industry. Why should Government encourage IT? Money is not everything . Bangalore was a pensioners’ paradise and now it is Biharis’ paradise. We can see everywhere high rise buildings. Builders have vandalized the garden city. There is no proper town planning. – no playgrounds, gardens, drinking water and electricity. Builders do not even think whether the approach roads take heavy traffic. People living in nearby villages are even deprived of drinking water thanks to high rise buildings. The inflows of people to Bangalore from neighboring districts are negligible compared to inflows from Hindi belt. The people from North never learn Kannada. But our poor school going children in rural areas are forced to learn Hindi in the name of National language. Now they are pitching for Hindi Academy in Karnataka. Kannadigas are broadminded. We know we are all Indians and Bangalore is not for Kannadigas alone. We invite all. But IT is pushing the native Kannadigas to brink. They are not getting even non-technical jobs. Naryana Murthy and his company want lands in Bangalore. Their contribution to the country may be enormous. But thousands of poor farmers lost their lands forever and pushed the site costs to unreachable heights. Frustrations of poor Kannadigas could be seen during the death of matinee idol Dr.Rajkumar. Let our brothers know Kananda – 3rd oldest after Sanskrit and Tamil, when Kavirajamarga was written, English was in cradle and Hindi was not born. English has no script it is written in Latin and Hindi is written in Devanagari. Though Tamil has script, it is logically imperfect as common letters are used for many pronunciations. Kannada is 99.9% perfect, You can write what you speak, can read what you write . I have not written this to offend anybody. Even Gurudev Rabindranath used to say “ Though I respect all languages equally but the Bengali be the first” ( Deficiencies if any in the language which I do not know may be pardoned)
even though iam also an iyengar , but i will advise karnataka iyengars to support kannada along with maintaing tamil culture at home . because nowadays iyengars are forgetting their mother tongue , which is really bad for any community whether it is kannada or tamil.
Now-a-days even if you go to small shop also if you speak in english you will get good response. English speaking / speaking in other languages has becom a fashion for people. It happned to see a incident when i was in a BMTC bus, travelling from Whitefield to majestic. The bus was over crowded we were standing near driver only, one girl who was standing behind him was talking in hindi very loudly over phone and afterthat in english with her friend. That driver got irritated, and he was teasing something with conductor. Then that girl’s friend told her not to speak loudly and driver is teasing you. Then girl asked her friend “in which language he is speaking!!!!!!! I dont understand that. i dont know which is that language.” She has come to Bangalore and doesn’t know the language of that city/State??!! i dont know how or she might be doing show off!!
Naanu kamputer engineer. Dodda software companies nali kelasa madidini. Naan ivaga iro company nalli hechu kannada davare iddare. Ellaru office nalli kannada ne maathadthare. I don’t believe this argument. Kannadigas are not at all root of Kannada’s problem. Infact the kannadiga’s are the best ever in terms of their soft nature and attitude towards other…. Have u heard ever that kanndiga pepole ever came to controversy over their language or bad behaviour?
In Bangalore, Unlike Chennai and hyderabad, Native people ratio very less. In chennai, Tamilians are more and Hyderabad, Telugu speaking peoples are more. But in Bangalore, Tamils and Telugus are more compared to Kannadigas. Even in throughout karnataka, Lot of other races living enormously like Tamils in Mandya and mysore, Konkanis and Tulus in mangalore as well urudus in Hoobli. Also Most of the IT firms top level managers and owners are Tamils and Telugus. So it is obviously difficult to find job for Kannadigas. As well they are not that much educated like Tamils and Telugus. IN recent I.A.S exam result, 96 Tamilians passed, 59 Telugus passed but unfortunately only 7 kannadigas passed in I.A.S exam, in that too two peoples belongs to Shetty community whose mother tongue is Tulu.
First of all, referring to the Tamil or Telugu populations as ‘Cisterns’ or alike is disgusting.
You might want to read that again before you put something else up.
As for the attitude, its just as horrid as your language! Unpleasant, lacks any elegance and is unbearable to listen to. Almost rural, no matter who speaks it!
So us ‘cisterns’ are more than happy to stay where we are, as long as we’re well distanced from waste material such as yourself.
stop counting tulu people as kannada.they are a separate culture and lets say more closer to malayalis than to kannadiga both ethnically and culturally.also why is it that kannada people always cringe about lack of oppurtunity.we shetty bunts lost acres of land during land reforms to tenants and were almost on the verge of poverty, but look at us we did not cry migrated to places with oppurtunities like mumbai gulf etc.we made our own destiny.kannadigas should really stop cringing thats what makes them the most miserable of all dravidas, they keep on complaining.learn something from tulu, konkani people of karnataka.also hating tamils and telugus will lead you’ll no where.
hi,
I am really upset with the promotion of telugu films in a kannada news channel TV9 . They keep promoting telugu films in a program called filmy funda . I feel news about telugu films and telugu politics is unneccessary for a kannada news channel . Hope you people understand the seriousness of the issue and write mail to TV9
I’m still laughing from the comment that ‘outsiders’ are responsible for corrupotion in Karnataka!
I do note (from personal experience) that all the corrupt politicians and government servants currently looting the state’s coffers are Kannadigas.
Sadly, Kannadigas have all the qualities (The Manjunath Syndrome) that have previously endowed other currently extinct races in the past. To make matters worse, the poor souls are surrounded on all four sides by far more aggressive, forward-thinking, and capable bullies.
get over your language obsessions and insecurities people …..almost 65 years of being an independent nation ,we still fight like princely states over who has the better language, which river flows through where…..we kannadigas are highly insecure ,mallus have a rajyotsava on the same day that we do,but i don’t see them make it a huge phenomenon like us…neither are they obsessed about their language like we are..i don’t find others cribbing over inclusion of their native languages in primary education…..or forcing MNC’s to display their logos in kannada first and then in english…….people have the right to use whatever means of communication that they prefer…its a lost cause if some one tries shoving down a language down people’s throats forcibly……!!!!!!
@Sandeep,
your statement is a mix of highly induced Pornographic content varying from mothers to bhabhis to young shoving.
We understand that seeing your facebook page.
You are currently a Macaulay’s child separated from your native culture. money and porn makes you sway in world of illusion
But that’s not how it works late in life.
Get a tour of your village and see some dried eyes – dried hopes and then if you can, comment.
A mallu and tamil would never let that happen. in that respect people have gone with not only the wind but also voice. you can never communicate the feelings as effectively as you can in your colloquial tongue.
this is not a question of insecurity / jingoism –
its very important to have a home at the end of the day
and essence of kannada is that it has given the identity for all which have now separated to become its neighbours and betrayed on silly accounts else show me anyone else’s inscriptions from tamil nadu to madhya pradesh!!
Even now a semi educateds wikipedian will tell you old kannada is like tamil rather than telling tamil is like old kannada.
and i can be sure that ‘derived script’ of sri lanka that tamils wrongly interpret causes serious problems for both countries.
this particular ‘segregation to achieve antiquity’ has led them to act like A.Raja , Kanimozhi , chidambaram and almost anyone who pretends to be there but their goal would always be to cause ‘a backstabbing guerilla warfare’
The Problem is with the way we think. We have more inferiority complex. We are do not project ourselves properly. We get adjusted very soon. We are simple sober and ever adjusting people. We just let go everything. We do not take pride in exaggerating things. We are not united. We do not enjoy simple things in life. We do not have an eye to enjoy anything. We appreciate perfectness but we don’t walk an extra mile to achieve it. That’s the whole problem. I think we should teach our kids to be more confident and speak Kannada in home. So that the language gets imbibed in kids and they grow confident.
“Really I am puzzled at what is causing this inferiority complex?”
Perhaps because we feel that our achievements in fields other than literature are not that impressive ?
