Purandaradasa‘s Bhagyada Lakshmi Baramma undergoes a delightful transmogrification at a humour festival as the guru takes ill and a stand-in takes centrestage. Former Karnataka chief minister S.M. Krishna is among those enjoying the rendition. But it speaks for the kind of hypersensitive times we live in that the guys who have put up the Google video actually have to remind the audience that it should be heard with tongue firmly rolled in cheek.
Savour the original lyrics here: Bhagyada Lakshmi Baramma
Is it just me or the guy started off by singing – “Baagyada Lakshmi” instead of “BHAgyada Lakshmi”???? …I simply cringed.
Poor Lakshmi, she has to face all this onslaughter on her. may be there will be Bendakaluru bundh tomorrow! Can such mockery be done on Mary or Mrs Alla??
>Can such mockery be done on Mary or Mrs Alla??
nAvu yeshtu prajnAvantaru antha khushipaDu! mooDha!
sumne yaake blog post nalli idu haage heege antha kichchaaysadu!?
It looks like Fort High School, ain’t it?
It’s disgusting to say the least. Seems like everybody finds enjoyment in abusing Gods and hurting people’s sentiments. It’s all your karma! Enjoy now and repent later…
Just enjoy it guys instead of taking a religious angle to everything.
I didn’t find anything funny in this clip. As Suraj says, that “guru” couldn’t even pronounce. The sishya neither.
Anyway, why was Mr. Krishna laughing so crazily? Strange…
Just to clarify..I cringed at the inappropriate ‘pronounciation’…”BHAgyada” vs “BAAgyada”.
why not introduce Vatal nagaraj to this blog!!!!
Nothing funny!.
>>Dwarapalaka — ..why was Mr. Krishna laughing so crazily?..
Because he was told before entering the program that this is a humor festival! :-)
Don’t tell me none of you have heard of the Sir Mirza Ismail connection?
