The Board of Control for Cricket in India will choose the Indian team’s next coach later today. And if things go as per plan, it should be Dav Whatmore, the former Sri Lankan and Bangladesh coach. Unless, of course…
Unless, of course, Sharad Pawar and his wise advisors go by Sunil Gavaskar‘s almost xenophobic opposition to all things foreign, include a foreign successor for Greg Chappell, and opt for an Indian, which the team isn’t looking forward to.
Speaking of which, Cyrus Broacha—the MTV veejay who cut his television teeth on Gavaskar’s Professional Management Group’s initial television ventures—had a pertinent question on his weekly The Week That Wasn’t show on CNN-IBN last night.
“If Gavaskar hates foreign coaches so much, why does he work for a foreign channel?”
Gavaskar is one little selfish ……. what can i say, ummm …… man! Everyone knows his personality and his preaching…so leave the little man to his low ways… and yah also praising another litlle guy.

This is a specious reasoning with couple of fallacies. One’s hate for foreign coaches should not or may not translate into hatred for foreign channels. In the build of argument – an all encompassing & absolute assumption is made, which in itself is improbable- “xenophobic opposition(redundancy??) to everything foreign”.
Foreign channels are not so foreign !!! they are as foreign as the Hyundai cars are!! ( the company earns few % points- but the rest is earned & expensed on/by Indians)
