Do our gods sanction our politicians’ silly games?

K.B. Ganapathy in Star of Mysore:

“Sometimes I wonder if H.D. Deve Gowda‘s success, despite an unstable weak political party, is due to the grace of Gods and Goddesses which he worships with vermilion and sandal paste smeared prominently on his broad forehead or on the bridge of his big nose.

B.S. Yediyurappa seems to be competing with Gowda in visiting temples and who knows, the astrologers too! Remember, the 7-day wonder visiting Vaishnodevi temple in J&K twice in lightning speed in 8 days? Once on the day President’s Rule was revoked and the second time when he took oath as Chief Minister without a single minister from JD(S). Well, he should have smelt a rat then itself. But then, as newly sworn Chief Minister, he was in his own perfumed paradise! He couldn’t smell the rat!”
