Nothing is ever a hassle when the legs are young and the lungs are bold.
D.G. MALLIKARJUN captures a slice of coastal Karnataka where boys brave the rains and winds with little over their heads, nothing around their chests and a smile on their lips; as home, work and play joyously comingle in lugging back the areca nuts.
Amazing photography….
Bajjai gu yedde rate maarayre!! Very nice photo!
yedde rate olpa?rate undu, aate!
Nice photo.
Pitty for city kids to miss all this fun. TV, DVDs, Video games and other gizmos can’t substitute the rural experience.
Great capture! Thanks for posting.
I feel the same way Mysore Huduga. City kids miss all the fun. They never get to play Mara koti aata, Chinni Daandu or get to go to the Jaatre in the nearby village. Lucky are the kids who grow up in rural areas.
Brilliant ! Felt good
What about GulToria, chinni-daanDu, buguri, goli – penda uDis, baddu aaTa, aLaguLimane…forgot chaukabaara…..
Before TV and technology invaded homes, we all used to play many outdoor games that were simple and required some exercise. However I have been told that nowadays even rural kids do not play a lot of the traditional outdoor games. TV, better technology and the pressure of doing well in school have taken their toll in rural areas as well.
nice photo. and co incidence or what.. mallikarjun won every man’s photo contest.!!!
Good picture. Dakishina Kannada district is a wonderful place for photography, but don’t go there in summer. I almost melted last April. Will go again this month which is cooler.
Super photo…
‘Nothing is ever a hassle when the legs are young and the lungs are bold’…definitely yes as the Malnad districts receive healthy rainfall, pure air almost, greenery all around, not so prevalent junk food culture, not much of cable TV as many has said, et al.
Look at them, they have a six pack!!. Still, i pity for this kiddos, brutal socitey turns them to child labourers. They hold beetels instead of YoYo…che che
Down with Child Labour.
Madhu,
Six packs or ribcage?
Swamy, Sathyan it is not a Dakshina Kannada district photo. It was taken in a Malnad district. Most probably Shimoga. Otherwise Sirsi – Siddapur area of U.K.
Rame Gowdre,
How do you know that it’s not DK photo? Smiles…It could be anywhere in Puttur, Karkal, Sullia, Ujire…!!
Moreover…see the reference to ‘Bajjai’!! Sounds familiar?
