A day after Ratan Tata unveiled the people’s car amid fears of what it will do the country’s oil bill, how it will clutter up our streets and clog up our air, cartoonist PRAKASH SHETTY reveals his dream car, which runs on water, flies in the air, and can be neatly folded and kept next to your desk like a suitcase.
This cartoon will air on ETV news tonight at 8 pm and 10.30 pm.
PRAKASH SHETTY should be owing a luxury car (even by this cartoon he would have got one!), so he doesn’t realize the common man’s dreams (of owning at-least a Nano).
Bhains… err… dhans… poor guy is a humble cartoonist, why target him with such frivolous arguments?
The “people’s car” is a wonderful example of India’s mid-20st Century mindset and its squandered chance at 21st Century development. My short essay on this, India Going Nowhere Fast, can be read at http://memestreamblog.wordpress.com/2007/10/12/india-going-nowhere-fast/.
