Drinking water is the main issue before the people of Karnataka, as evidenced by one of the opinion polls, and as this woman pedalling to fetch a few buckets in K.R. Puram in Bangalore will vouch. But how many parties, and how many politicians, and how many anchors and analysts, are talking of it as the airwaves are grabbed by amorphous and abstract formulations in the election season?

Year 2030, This will be common sight for Bangalore and Parts of Karnataka. Water scarcity will hurt people badly as its now with food grains and Petrol.
Only Kumarswamys, Deshpandes , Gandhis and their ilk can survive with their rotten wealth and power.
In the calculus of power, water is as important as oil. There are disputes similar to our Kaveri situation all over the world.
A national river grid has long been touted as the solution to our water problems. If it is ever started and then completed, it should be capable of meeting the needs of at least one and a half billion people. Therein lies the futility of the dream.
In a country that calls itself the land of holy rivers, it is a bloody shame that no one can take a drink of water straight out of a river or a stream. In today’s Deccan Herald, I saw a picture of women collecting water from a standpipe right next to a sewer called Vrishabhavathi. If slums translate to votes, why do anything to transform them into areas fit for human habitation? When I read that the JDS has a lock on the slum votes in Chamarajapet, am I to congratulate that party for its wisdom or curse it to hell for its exploitation of the denizens in that area?
On the heels of his Daridra Naraayana rally, prior to Kumaraswamy’s misappropriation of power, Devegowda visited many slums and handed out pieces of paper to the residents saying those worthless slips confirmed their ownership of the little square of the land on which their huts stand. To this day, they are vulnerable to eviction despite this cynical act on the part of that rogue.
How many will vote for me if I promise Water ,Electricity, Education and comfortable living? People want free Ration, free TV,free entertainment & free UB. You promise them these and they will vote for you. Once I am elected, to hell with my promises and I have to take care of my family’s future generations. This will be my only aim.
For all this to change we require total literacy and patriotism in its true spirit. This can only happen in Gujarat type of governance. There is 90% good in this type of governance and 10% bad. We seem to look at only the 10%. But else where it is the reverse!
Excellent post.
