Pedestrian Pictures is screening a part-biography, part-history film on K.G. Kannabiran, the human rights and civil liberties activist, at 5 pm on Saturday, 31 May 2008, at the IAT on Queen’s Road, Bangalore.
Titled ‘The Advocate‘, the 130-minute film, directed by Deepa Dhanraj, documents the contribution of Kannabiran, currently national president of the People’s Union of Civil Liberties (PUCL), in challenging the Indian State to uphold the rule of law in institutions of governance, justice and political praxis.
Spanning the period from 1968 till 2005, the film tries to cover his landmark cases, his work as secretary of the Tarkunde Committee and the Bhargava Commission.
good that churumuri has announcements such and as this and about Sainath addressing at Bangalore.
i want to watch this film. but im at mysore.
I don’t want to watch this film…. But I am in Bengaluru!
Kannabiran is a treachorous bas**** who writes sympathy letter for another terrorist aka Binayak Sen. Please search for the two on google.
Kind of expected from churumuri to talk about terrorists and their ilk. Does this constitute treachary in itself?
Then it must be biostory. Documentation at a personal level. Selective. No doubt there is some contribution by the PUCL. Sometimes it has been one-sided version only. Many a times it was just a PM report.
Sumne,
And you might want to add Amartya Sen and Naom Chomsky to the list of people who wrote sympathy letters to Binayak Sen, automatically making them terrorists and their ilk by your book.
How do you plan to censor churumuri for this ‘treachary’? Maybe you should stop reading churumuri? There must be several blogs which support your worldview.
Well, in this regard, I would consider the act of Naom and Amartya as an act of treason. Sympathising with Terrorists is a big problem.
Instead of asking me to rethink on a decision to read Churumuri, I see that you have nothing to say against my more serious allegations. In case you missed, I just indicated “Binayaka Sen” as a terrorist. I would consider that a major problem than some guy reading some website.
Where are your priorities AG?
Sumne,
This is interesting.
So what do you really think of someone like Naom Chomsky or Amartya Sen? Why do you think they sympathised with Sen? What punishment would you administer them for this act of treason?
My priorities? They arent as rigid as yours I guess. In your world view – I would be a criminal many times over. Guilty until proven innocent :)
22 more “terrorists” for the consideration of the resident idiot.
