Gulzar Ahmed, a 15-year-old student of the DAV matriculation school in Mogappair near Madras, who switched his optional language subject just three years ago, has scored 100 out of 100 in Sanskrit, on the way to a second rank in the non-Tamil stream, reports Indian Express.
“Till Class VIII, I had Hindi as my optional language paper. I wanted a change and decided to try Sanskrit, as I could not opt for Tamil due to certain mandatory requirements,” Gulzar said.

if after centuries of living together, and more than 60 years of ‘nice’ talk this kid’s achievement is extraordinary enough to be news, then something is seriously wrong.
unless you are celebrating the 100. in which case, what was the next highest score?

what so great about this? Muslim Indians have been speaking and writing in Sanskrit way before even the great Amir Khusro, >600 years back. And let us forget dara Shikhoh and his translations of the Upanisads, and all that. A Muslim in India scoring 100% is Sanskrit is only an insignificant shade more newsworthy than a Hindu scoring a centum in Urdu or Farsi. A Pakistani Muslim scoring a centum in Sanskrit studying at the BHU? That would be news.
