The “Eye for an Eye” email sent out by the “Indian Mujahideen” before the Delhi blasts on Saturday, while using the “injustice and oppression inflicted upon Muslims all over the country” as a justification for the attack, also targets the Indian English print media in particular:
“The coverage of news by both the electronic as well as print media clearly depicts the level to which their immorality has reached while obeying their loyal masters of IB [Intelligence Bureau]. But let us clarify here that you forgot your own principle: that sometimes the stories untold serve the purpose more than the stories told. Look at the way you handled the blasts in which Sangh activists have been involved.
“With the Will of Allah, the Most Sublime, both the Bajrang Dal activisits were killed and sentenced to Hell fire while they were engaged in bomb making—an art which needs extraordinary intelligence—at Kanpur, and this was rightly reported by the Indian Express mentioning that the police was astonished to see the quantity of bombs found. The ‘apes’ of Bajrang Dal were too foolish to plot a revenge blast in Kanpur on 24th Aug. 2008 against the Muslims.
“The blast which occrred on 24th August hardly found even a single column space in The Times of India the next day. Hindustan Times carried the news, but without mentioning the identity of the wretchd ones who were killed. The only information it delivered was tht the father of Piyush Mishra, one among the dead, was running a private hostel in the locality! On 26th August, the Indian Express and Mail Today mentioned the news in some detail (heading: “The Bajrang Bomb?”—Indian Express). There were hardly any follow-up stories in Times of India. Stories of Omprakash alias Bunty, a gang leader who was gunned down by the police was the topic Times of India gave to its readers the next day. Times spent more than a page for Bunty the gang leader. On the following days, there was an extensive coverage of police cracking down the Jaipur blast mystery, ‘investigative’ stories on Shahbaz Hussain, the ‘computer savy’ master mind (yet another forged lie) alleged to be behind the serial blasts. But a dreadful silence was kept about the origin of bombs dug out from the camp of Sangh Parivar all along. A great number of human rights activists and organisations demanded an immediate probe to investigate the explosive agenda hidden by Sangh Parivar. The statements issued and press conferences conducted in this regard were limited to single columns in the national newspapers….
“The coverage of the Sangh Parivar violence in Orissa, by the mainstream media reveals the bad character of the Indian press. After the very first day of violence… Times of India didn’t find it worthy enough to mention it in the front page! After 26th of August, the Times reader can hardly find news from Orissa, unless he dives into the inner pages. Times of India has written an editorial demanding to put an end to violence against Christians in Orissa. From the day enxt, the newspaper runs as if it had complete its duty and has better things to do!
“Look at the effort the Times News Network takes to endorse the VHP argument that Lakshminanda Saraswati was kileld not by the Maoists but by the Christian missionaries (heading: Maoists didn’t kill VHP leader—The Times of India, 31st August). On the other hand, the Orissa violence made a clear appearance in other newspapers like The Hindu, Indian Express, and Hindustan Times. They have given extensive coverage to the pight of hundreds of Christians, who were forced to run. Why is it that the Sangh parivar violence is never dealt with in the same intensity as ‘Islamic Terror’ is treated?
“The media always uses double standards to measure terrorism. The word ‘terrorism’ is never used when a story on Sangh violence is told, no matter how large scale the violence is. The violence unleashed by the Sangh Parivar in Gujarat was defined only as “expression of communalism” and the same is the case with what happens in Orissa at present. At this moment we ask you as to why the ‘Sangh terror’ on all the minorities including the Muslims, Dalits and Christians is a rarely noticed idea?”

It’s strange but this long diatribe (despite the initial accusation of IB control) actually recognizes that the Indian media is generally free, and not government controlled unlike most other Muslim states.
It reads more like a long and rambling letter to the editor than a damning condemnation of the institution of the free press.

The feeling of injustice having been done to the community is the first thing that religion of islam instills in its followers. Every muslim is asked to explore “his history” to see how they were ‘denied’ justice from time immemorial. After all what is the need for Sharia and Dar-ul-islam if everything seems fine. So they go back to Hijra, back to karbala, back to Partition of India, back to Kashmir, back to Babri Masjid, or elsewhere to Palestine, Denmark, Spain etc.

And why fear when Churmuri is here to help Indian Mujahidin to propogate their ideas. You are trying to give these terrorists respectability by publishing such hate filled mails on the Indian media. Please give some thought on the innocent people who were killed in Delhi bomb blast and refrain from giving publicity to lumpen anti social elements.

Its strange. Speak to Sangh Parivar people and they hold the same view against the media (some of them might consider Vijaya Karnataka an exception). They would tell you, supported by better research than what IM has presented here, how the media, especially the English media, has been sympathetic to the minorities and never bothers to highlight the injustice suffered by the majority. Poor media…

Amongst other things, Islamists, Jehadis are deliberately trying to pit one Hindu group against another. The word “dalit” is very cleverly used- as if they are NOT Hindu. Or there is no “Dalit” amongst Christian, or Muslims.
Basic ploy is to divide, pit one group of Hindus against another. And rally minorities religiously.
It also means, Hindutva- casteless, aggressive, united Hindu identity is the greatest fear Jehadis, islamists have.

I appreciate churumuri posting this whether the claim is valid or not. The point of the media is to provide new perspectives and fresh information to the reader and to show an insight into what the terrorists are thinking. The regular run-of-the-mill media all rehash the same stories in the same perspectives with the same questions asked (and even sometimes with the same headlines) every time any event happens. This blog, its detractors be damned, gathers together a good collection of eclectic articles which are not usually seen in the regular media. Good work.

Everybody with any sense knows that the recent blasts at Ajmer Sharif , Malegaon and now Gujarat and Delhi were carried out by Hindu terrorists hailing from a multitude of Sangh outfits. The home-made, sans RDX character of the bombs and the fact that many were duds proves this. Google it, and you can get bomb recipes at home, ever heard of the ‘Anarchist’s Cookbook’…. Why is this so hard to swallow! Isn’t last year’s Tehelka expose where Modi’s mass murderers boasted about making bombs in each others warehouses enough…Its election year and the Hindutva apes are doing what they do best. Violence. A few bombs in Delhi, a few church burnings in Orissa and a bit of civil unrest in Kashmir will go a long way in getting Bhajpa into power next year, mark my words. Already people are saying ” Congress ne toh Musalmanon ko bahut chooth de rakhi hai!” ..as if Muslims are some homogenous mass of zoo animals on the loose. The Cretinous and childishly pro western media seems to have no trouble toeing the government line. Whether its Aarushi or SIMI, Afzal or Dr. Binayak Sen, they will regurgitate verbatim whatever rubbish they get in the daily press conferences at south block. Basically, its very simple… the cultural and historical baggage we Indians carry makes it very hard for us too think rationally and treat those around us fairly. Conversely it makes it very easy for our geriatric politicians (whose crap we are always eager to swallow) to goad and taunt us into thinking like them and acting out our very existence in a biased, suspicious and frustrated fashion, passing our filthy ways from generation to generation. Our vagrant majoritarianism paid for 84 till 95 and is paying for 92 till today. Wonder how long we will pay for 2002….
Grow up people, the world is not limited to IT, shopping malls and the little plastic Lakshmi idols you pray to for a little more of the first two! Let us give pause and think about where the real issues lie, or we will face a civil war the likes of which we have never ever seen before. Actually… its here already.
God save us all.

AN OPEN LETTER TO THE PRIME MINISTER OF INDIA – By Shabnam Hashmi & Ram Puniyani
AN OPEN LETTER TO THE PRIME MINISTER OF INDIA
September 15, 2008
New Delhi
Dear Dr. Manmohan Singh,
The blasts in Delhi (September 12, 2008) are another in the series of tragic blasts in which scores of people have been killed. We strongly condemn the blasts and demand a proper, unbiased investigation into the same. We demand that the guilty be punished. At the same time it seems that our investigating agencies are ignoring some thing very crucial in the matters of investigating the acts of terror.
The acts of terror have been occurring and Home Ministry is watching helplessly. While the current investigation is totally focused around SIMI, many an alleged culprits have been put behind the bars, despite which now some unknown entity Indian Mujahideen seems to have been projected as being responsible for the current ones. At the same time another stark truth is being deliberately sidelined and undermined. And that relates to the blasts done by Bajrang Dal and Hindu Jagran Samiti. We fail to understand as to why the investigation authorities are turning a blind eye to some of the well established facts.
1. In a serious case of blasts in Nanded in April 2006 two Bajarang Dal workers died when making bombs. Similar incidents of bomb blasts were witnessed in many places around that time, Parabhani, Jalna and Aurangabad in Maharashtra. Most of these were in front of the mosques. The Nanded investigation ‘leads’ were not followed. On the contrary the investigation in that direction was not pursued at all. The attitude of police in this investigation has been totally lax. Social activists made the complaint about this to Human Rights commission. The commission summoned the Superintendent of police, Nanded, in its hearing held on 17thJune. The SP failed to turn up for hearing! There seems to be a deliberate cover up of this important finding of Maharashtra Anti terrorist Squad. ATS did investigate the links of the dead with Bajrang Dal, an RSS affiliate. At the same time the injured were visited in the hospital by the top brass of local BJP and associates. Local BJP MP told the police not to harass those related to the culprits in the wake of the Bajrang Dal involvement in the bomb making. In Nanded, ATS also found fake moustache and pajama kurta, the idea being that the culprits will dress like a Muslim while doing these black deeds.
2. A bomb blast took place at the RSS office at Tenkasi, in the Tirunelveli District of Tamil Nadu on January 24. After a thorough investigation, the Tamilnadu Police had arrested 7 persons belonging to Sangh Parivar outfits. They had confessed that they indulged in this terror act to instigate the local Hindu population against the Muslims.
On further investigation, the Tamilnadu Police arrested Siva Alias Sivanandam, who is the General Secretary of Hindu Munnani at Kadayanallur, a neighbouring town of Tenkasi. Formed in 1980, Hindu Munnani is a frontal organisation of Sangh Parivar operating in Tamilnadu.
Siva, who has earlier worked in quarries in the neighboring state of Kerala had supplied the ammonium nitrate and other raw materials for preparing the bombs.
3. The bombs which exploded in Gadkari Rangayatan on 4th June 2008 injured seven people. Again Maharashtra Anti Terrorist Squad succeeded in nabbing the culprits. The culprits were part of Hindu Janjagaran Samiti (HJS), an outfit of Sanatana Ashram in Panvel. These culprits were also involved in other blasts, in Vashi, Panvel and Ratnagiri. We have not heard anything about the further tracing of this very important lead.
4. On 24th August, in Kanpur two Bajrang Dal workers died while making bombs. Rajiv alias Piyush Mishra and Bhupinder Singh were killed while making crude bombs on Sunday afternoon.
On 25th August, Monday, police recovered some crude hand grenades, lead oxide, red lead, potassium nitrate, bomb pins, timers and batteries from the spot, inside a hostel in Kalyanpur area of Kanpur, about 80 km from Lucknow. No further investigation, why?
Every time there is a bomb blast immediately the agencies and the media declare that it is done by some Muslim organization without any proof. Hundreds of innocent young boys are picked up, what follows are illegal detentions, torture, arrests, harassment of families, forcing the families and victims to sign blank papers. For years these helpless victims are tortured in jails, denied legal aid, even lawyers who try and fight their cases are attacked openly in courts. Their images tarnished for life time. If they are lucky they get let off after years as neither the agencies or the police have any proof against them. The cacophony of stricter laws rises so that a police can extract a confession by third degree torture and present that as evidence. Through this systematic vilification campaign the process of demonization of minorities continued unabated.
If we look at the timing of the terror attacks it is very clear that one and only one political outfit is gaining from it and that is Sangh. With their eyes on the central government their agenda of polarizing the voter is going ahead successfully.
On the other hand there are constant attacks on minorities on one pretext or another. Orissa thousands of Christians have been attacked, rendered homeless, their homes ransacked and looted and burnt down, churches attacked and even orphanages are not left alone.
Karnataka a similar picture is emerging. We have personally briefed very senior people in the government and the Congress party about the Karnataka situation and that it might explode but nothing was done and we have seen what has happened yesterday.
While we write to you now, the police are firing at Muslims in Yakutpura in Vadodara. Yesterday during the Ganpati procession a local dargah was broken down and shops of Muslims looted and ransacked. Already one boy has died and many are injured.
Last few days the only Muslim village Nandepeda in the Dangs, Gujarat has been attacked, ransacked. Villagers have been beaten up brutally including women and children. All men have fled to the jungles. The police not only took away all the goods but before going they poured kerosene into the eatable good so that they could not eat anything too. A proposed VHP rally today was stopped after spending 4 hours on the phone and pressuring various police departments.
UPA had formed the National Integration Council under tremendous pressure. The first agenda papers which were prepared, if you remember, were highly communal and objectionable. A number of us had raised it during the meeting and the Home Minister had replied’ treat them as scrap’ in your presence. Probably the Home Minister realized that people like us were too uncomfortable to have in the NIC, who would raise these questions. The NIC was never convened again. It was supposed to meet every six months.
The country unfortunately has been given on a platter to the Sangh and the government looks helplessly in providing security to ordinary citizens whether they are victims of terror attacks or victims of the constant attacks by the Sangh Parivar’s various outfits.
We hope you will intervene and question why are such clear cases of involvement of RSS affiliates in terror attacks being ignored. It seems the investigating authorities deliberately want to cover up the role of RSS affiliates in these acts of terror. Can the real truth behind the dastardly acts come out without properly investigating these incidents, where the culprits’ involvement is very clear? We urge upon you to instruct the investigating authorities to pursue the investigation in an unbiased, honest and professional manner. The life of innocent citizens is at stake and such irresponsible cover will definitely prevent the real truth from coming out. For the sake of fairness, honesty and the values of our constitution, we need to pursue these cases in their logical direction.
Can we look forward to you, Mr. Prime Minister to make your Government to rise above partisan attitude and unravel the truth behind the blasts which are rocking the country in a painful way?
Sincerely
Shabnam Hashmi, Member, National Integration Council
Ram Puniyani, Social Activist, and writer

@Dhruv,
One gets a feeling that possibly the UPA is infiltrated by the BJP and its supporters, if one were to look at the long list of things in the open letter by ‘Shabnam Hashmi, Member, National Integration Council AND Ram Puniyani, Social Activist, and writer’. Do you really believe what is written in that letter by these two folks? What prevents any of them to go to court? Or, what prevents you from going to court (and seek investigation) with that information?
I wonder why none of the English language TV channels go after these stories to EXPOSE the Hindu groups, assuming what is stated here is the truth? The shoot and scoot strategy works well on the print, since all you need is an editor willing to publish it. While on TV, you may have some police official, opposition politician, etc who could counter the story.
Unfortunately, truth seems to be a casualty in the new age media, where everything is instantaneous. Half truths, patently false statements could get passed off without anyone countering them. Is this what we need to be comfortable? A Kangaroo comfort when the hunter is charging in for the kill?
