The three prize winning photographs at the Chaya Milan all-Indian photography salon organised by the Mysore district photographers’ and videographers’ association.
First prize: a leopard attacking a zoo official, shot by Hampa Nagaraj; second prize: a kite clinging on the national flag, shot by S.R. Madhusudan; third prize: an elephant being translocated, shot by Narayan Yadav.

Regarding the description of the elephant in the photo, it is not translocation. It is one of the four dead elephants that were poisoned and is being lifted with the help of a crane for its last rites.

I am between the horns of dilemma. Whom should I feel sorry for? The leopard llooks quite dead to me, far from attacking the zoo official. The pachyderm suspended in the mid air – is he alive or dead as “ragpicker” says? Nevertheless, the photos are a good catch! Better topic than usual secularism terrorism talk.

It was not the leopard attacking humans in that incident, but vice versa.
Congratulations to all winners.
