Kalla Kakara Kutta
Don’t see red every time you see saffron!
Swamiji has asked state govt not name the Tumkur University after him.
Vasanth
Swalpa yochane maaDi mataDu… Ninage Shivakumara SwaamygaLa bagge swalpaanoo gottilde iro haagide.
A SANYASI on a silver throne sorrounded by more, does look funny!!
Sandesh,
Of course, Shivkumar swamiji has done a great work in Akshara Dhosha.
But at the same time they have benefited lot from the Govt and have responsible for caste politics in Karnataka.
Providing Education to children’s is the role of the Govt not Matts. Matts and swamiji’s should not be praised for their role in education. They are making millions by selling seats in medical and engineering colleges.
So it is the right time to voice against them and uprooted from this world.
basavana’s philosophy has thrown out of the window by these so called bogus gurus (all matts must be taken over by govt)
From what I have heard from a sensible relative, this Swamiji is one of the true servants of humanity and is not just another pretender hungry for money and power. If anyone deserves to live long, it is this person.
Vasanth & Gaby,
I think you guys donno about Sri Shivakumara Swami. The kind of social work this swamiji has done no person can do in seven lives. I don’t think in India anybody individually has done so much for the upliftment of poor irrespective of caste & religion. If don’t beleive me visit the Siddganaga Mutt once & then comment.
Plz restraint from making loose comment on any person if you donno about that person.
Now a days it has become fashion in many mainstream English media to make loose comments on Hinduism, Swamiji’s etc. This that too in the name of secularism. People should realise that secularism exists in this country only b’coz of these swamiji’s who most of them are secular. Otherwise India would have been Hindu Country long time back.
Gaby, you might have liked the photo if it had been like the ‘Last Supper’ one?!
Vinay and Alvamatte,
All I meant what was what a departure from the Shoonya Simhasana to a Silver simhasana- Everything for upliftment of poverty etc should be by you and me and the community in general. The true job of a sanyasi is in the realm of the spiritual. I cant understand this reference to the last supper. Is the swamy travelling in the path of Allama Prabhu or that of Catholic Rome?
When I read Gaby’s post, I was reminded of a conversation I had with one Shri PV Rao.

Btw, on further reflection, I have come to see merit in Gaby’s view. But I gather the matter is not so simple after all.
Gaby akka
Swami Vivekananda used to advocate a philosophy — sEveya moolaka saakshaatkara. IMHO Shri Shivakumara Swamiji ee vargakke seridavaru. Halavu pathagaLalli idoo ondu.
Well Sandesh I still cant see how SEVE is related to a silver simhasana- unless of course the Swami himself isnt giving a damn whether it’s a silver one or a pile of mud – there’s that possibility too !
gyabakka, i really dont understand your objection. he is not a jangama he is a pattad jangama. conceptually also, he operates entirely in the samsari world. i am surprised you dont make the distinction. why would a true sanyasi be really moved by anything? why would he have an urge to change something?
one thing, you must agree is ikea makes much more comfortable seats than that. that thing is not for comfort of the sitting person. it is meant to convey/project something else altogether. part of whatever it is projecting is supposed to fall within the community and part outside.
Gaby
Don’t mix concepts. I was replying to your following comment.
“Everything for upliftment of poverty etc should be by you and me and the community in general. The true job of a sanyasi is in the realm of the spiritual.”
The Siddaganga Mutt was claiming that Veerashaivism is a different religion for Hinduism [the reason being that it would make the lingayats minorities and therefore be eligible for reservation] till around 2002. They held a lot of these sabhas all over Tumkur. Somehow I think it nessecary that they also mention facts like this too when talking about the swamiji.

Also why is the swamiji so concerned about who joins or leaves the BJP?
Should a swamiji be so concerned with politics?
Gaby,
Not sure why you are ranting about sitting on a silver chair. I dont think so he would have asked for a silver chair, but his devotees would have got it for swamiji.
The fact that swamiji was made to sit on a silver chair doesnt undo the humongous social work that he has done.
Hope you know, that during navarathri Sringeri shankaracharya wears colorful silk clothes and jewelery. There is a tradition behind that. Read it.
never mind gaby, just saw your post again. same page on what sanyasi is.
my only point is these are paTTad jangamas and as such play an important role. not the role you are looking for, but important nevertheless.
hi guys pl don’t make, any comments without proper knowledge. it effects on our religion. one thing i can say that there is nothing religious and castizm in siddaganga mutt, b cos i had been there for years..
