Arun Nehru‘s latest back-of-the-envelope prediction, published in Deccan Chronicle, still continues to put the Congress-led UPA ahead of the BJP-led NDA, although both alliance will end up well short of 272.
Significantly, Nehru gives the Congress 157 seats, against 132 for the BJP, a gap of 25 straightaway.
“Caste and religion can be dominant factors but economy and good governance are equally important.
“If we look at the last six Assembly elections then we see that integrity and good governance have been rewarded. Instinct tells me that a similar situation may well develop in 2009.”
