Everybody and his dog knows that the Election Commission’s “lakshman rekha” of an expense limit of Rs 25 lakh per Lok Sabha constituency in the big States of the Union, including Karnataka, is a bit of a joke.
But the joke, sadly, is on us. Former Karnataka chief minister and Janata Dal state president H.D. Kumaraswamy in an interview with Prannoy Roy of NDTV aired on Monday night blithely declared numbers that should, well, numb the EC:
Prannoy Roy: How much do you per constituency they are spending?
Kumarasway: BJP, minimum, there are spending Rs 25 crore to Rs 30 crore [per constituency]. In Shimoga, where chief minister B.S. Yediyurappa‘s son B.Y. Raghavendra is contesting, the figure could go up to Rs 100 crore.”

I think Kumsamy and his baap will do well to set their house in order first.
Let them smell their dead elephant first. This combo is always have a fancy at pointing fingers election or no election. They always spew venom on all excepth their party members. this is not a healthy way of working in a democracy. The earlier they are thrown out and shown their place the better.
I wonder how can one foll all always.

Side note: Prannoy Roy is a senior journalist/psephologist who’s been around for more than two decades and he, I’m sure, has seen all kinds of political scamsters in his experience and yet appears so genuinely keen on doing what he does in these interviews. Listen, reflect and keep going ahead. I wonder how his inner self never barks or taunts at him to just revolt; this incredulous ‘ideological’ discussion is an example.
