Stereotype is the idyllic port at which the modern mind is anchored through words and pictures. Urban or rural, have or havenot, wheels or heels… these are the stark black-or-white images agitating for dominance, the ultimate contrast being the mechanical summer school versus grandma’s homilies.

yes ajji mane was the best….of course summer camps offer a lot of fun and frolic but somethings missing…. especially the ragi rottis, menasinakaayi bajjis, huli avalakkis etc which were prepared by my mother’s mother……and ajji manes offer lot of cooing and pampering which cannot be found in summer camps…..

With both the parents working, most of the kids grow at their grandparents’ home. A summer camp is a welcome break for all the ajjis and tatas who are busy raising their grandchildren because their children are having leisurely lunch breaks at their offices.

The callous attitude of the mother/relative is clearly seen the way the child is sitting. It has its own direction to look at. People refuse to take minimum care while taking their children. And even healthwise it is not advisable to make the child sit like that. Even summer camps have become money-making centres. Of course there may be a very exceptions. After summer camps no child will be able to put into practice what it has learnt there. Maneli – maNNu muTTabeDa, Kaagada hearibeDa…only no no no.GalaTe maaDabeDa.

Nostalgia is for the jobless affluent class. Ask the kid and guy carrying her in scorching sun, he would love to be in the shoes of the lady in the bike. Self pity, when there is nothing to pity about!
