Yet another dark Deepavali for Vikram Buddhi

You can barely hide a chuckle when a Russian television station has to report on lack of freedom in the United States. But can you really afford to laugh when Russia Today brings up the case of Vikram Budhi, the Purdue University PhD student jailed three years ago for posting online threats against then US president George W. Bush?

Or do you wonder if it’s a real coincidence that Vikram’s father Buddhi Kota Subbarao, an award-winning naval scientist, was arrested 21 years ago for smuggling out nuclear secrets, when, in fact, he was only carrying his PhD thesis approved by IIT Bombay?
