Manish Pandey‘s 144 in the second innings of the finals of the Ranji Trophy against Bombay will soon be forgotten. But can anybody forget this stunner he pulled of Abhishek Nayar off the bowling of Sunil Joshi on day three? Better still, can anybody remember an even better one by an Indian fielder in living memory?
Wow… wonderful full stretched diving catch. The Mysore Match seems to have demolished some myths of Indian Cricket, like pitch, batting, bowling…………..and now a catch.

Manish Pandey is Superman. Every night he wears a cape, blue tights, and a red chaddi and goes around saving the world.

Even Jhonty Rhodes will be proud ! What a Talented youngster . Wish he had stayed a little longer to make Karnataka lift the Trophy. If only Dravid had taken a calculated gamble and had played the match just a Player, the story would have been different and still he could have made it to Dacca 1

In a Ranji match, on a “bumpy” outfield, in a final… no way, no way… no one will ever believe anyone could take a catch like that in real life.

Great Catch, Reminds be of one catch of Mohd. Kaif in the Natwest Trophy, and another of Yuvraj catching Jhonty at short fine leg.

Yep! Its a superman catch by this Pandey guy, and yes, perhaps the best ever catch by an Indian.

Ever might be stretching the limit.
Any one remember Ajay JAdeja’s catch in the 1992 world cup. He was closer tot he batsmen, and to jump a larger distance and had lesser time to react.

There is no parallel to this catch except some of the catches of Jhonty Rhodes. The fact that umpires [incuding 3rd umpire] took such a long time to conclude it a ‘catch’ tells all about this catch. That Karnataka lost the match is history now…but this catch would remain with us for a long long time to come.

It was sublime! So was his 144 runs in 2nd Inn..well..I am more than a touch sad about KAR not pulling it off in the end. But then it’s cricket and I am hoping to see this young team lift the trophy next time.
In the mean time Manish Pandey..you rock man!

I think Dravid also pulled one off Moin Khan during the 1999 Series down under. That was also a stunner.
BTW, why is Sunil Joshi still playing when he’s already 40??

It’s the catch that turned the match on its head. This was followed up by a brilliant run chase of 330+ when no side had scored more than 250 in the match. That Karnatka almost managed to pull it off is someting of a folklore. A great match and a great ending. Agurs well for cricket, for Karnataka and Mysore which prepared a great pitch, brought in crowds you don’t see in major centres these days.
All in all a fantastic start for thre year!

It could be called one of the greatest catches in recent times by an Indian fielder. There could possibly be some catches from earlier years not caught on camera. Whatever be the case, Manish with his batting heroics and fielding display really won our hearts.
