Solar eclipses are like a manna from heaven for photo editors. The silhouette sequence of the moon passing over the sun. Smartly dressed young men and women wearing goggles to view the celestial spectacle. Foreigners flocking to India to catch a glimpse.
You will see them all in tomorrow’s newspapers.
What you are unlikely to see is the picture of Nagaraja and Spoorti, the couple who bucked the usual superstitions to get married during the solar eclipse at the Murugarajendra Mutt in Chitradurga on Friday. churumuri.com wishes them the very best in their lives and hopes all their troubles will be “l’il ones”.

Congratulations and best wishes to Spoorti and Nagaraj on getting married, and defying superstition.
My wife and I had been engaged for well over the year and when both found employment in the same city, we decided to get married at the earliest.
Imagine finding a wedding hall in Bangalore on April 5 at short notice! We found our very second choice of location available (the first was undergoing renovation). We decided to get married. The signatories fat our civil ceremony included our mothers and my mentor, Dr. H. Narasimhaiah. We were married during lunar eclipse.
It has been a happy marriage of over 35 years! My wife and I wish you the same!!

At least you found one rational couple! I tried but failed.
What I am more impressed with is the fact that Nagaraj and Spoorthi got married in a MUTT. Thats what a mutt, being a socio-religious and cultural institution, can do to the society…
Well done Murugharajendra Mutt
Well done Nagaraj & Spoorthi. Wish you a happy married life.

Marriage itself is a religious custom. Isn’t it weird that you are making a big deal out of it ?

Marriage is the combination of two souls. This event does not need any time for souls to mingle.
Wish both of u, a happy married life.

No need to publicize so much. It is a personal affair. Where you marry, when you marry is not at all important. It is how you live is most important.Thre are many marriages of such sort -rich, poor , educated, not so much educated…It takes place in temples, churches and other places. If Spoorthi can become inspiration to theres OK.
