With the backdrop, photo is good. would have been better without streetlight kamba.
Shouldn’t this be arranged in cities also with drug and liquor tests in a professional manner – with international participation?
Instead of repeating Vijayanagara was like Rome again and again, why not conduct something as romans do. See they have shown a waitress there is capable of ruling here ; they say on face – when in Rome do as romans do ; they have A-Z of their sports internationally called Olympics.
We neither have the consensus to say speak as we do , nor have any value for sports.

those wires are a sign of progress sir!!
although i agree we should tap into the potential(= paisas) of those hoary bygone eras. i mean the rayas were a net positive for the country and its culture -dharmaateeta, bhashaateeta and all that.
avadhana, lively debates on bheda bheda’s of sundry darshanas complete with kayy thaTT(tribute to vyasatheerta), sangeeta, connect the coasts back with kola and gana (the tuluva connection), ghanapaaTha(tribute to sayana), sculpture and painting exhibitions, mallayuddha musthi yuddha what not. the possibilities and potentials are so many. although they must stagger it. mysore does it during dasara, hampi in karthika maasa.that way we keep those tourists in our neck of the woods of a month or two. in between stimulate their adrenaline on kaaLi and netravathi, serenade them to the backwaters of bhadra.

oh! but i must add. i dont know if yeddi has a funny bone or if SoM has a funny edit.
to quote
Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, who spoke on the occasion, said it is a matter of pride for Kannadigas that the glory of Vijayanagar Empire matched that of Roman Empire. It should be remembered that diamonds were sold on the streets in Vijayanagar and he would strive hard for providing an administration reminiscent of the Vijayanagar kingdom.
is yeddi aiming for dharmaateeta/bhashateeta rule of k’raya or is he aiming to sell the state’s jewels on the streets of bellary? going by his helplessness wrt to reddy brothers, it looks like he is set to bring the riches of the rajya to bajaar for haraaj.
that selling of diamonds itself on beedi is iteself an interesting story. i wonder what happened to it afterwards? where did the traders and their maal dissapear? what happened to the mines? mysore which is where the shop moved, complete with the varaha dhwaja in initial years, somehow never came to be know for its diamond trade. (remember how the last remaining copy of arthashastra was smuggled further south, lest it be destroyed by the le faithful?)

ofcourse absolutely, i believe in dignity of labour. i never said it was bad!!
i told even a waitress is so capable and efficient. not that it hasn’t got dignity.
fyi, all students in western countries work in hotels,libraries or any such places and earn their fees. even Manmohan did it.
but sadly in our country it’s not so – was my opinion.
@tsubba
i think all those arthashastra copy and diamonds were sent to rome by some operation diamond racket , which is what they are comparing with; mines as all know Reddy is taking care to export; Sonia needs to clarify more or is it a bilateral issue?
