Not sure what leverage they have. Neither of SRK or Karan Johar are joos, Fox searchlight is a minor player, not a Paramount or WB. Slumdog recently won big in oscars, so its kind of too soon. But slumdog is technically british, so should be ok. Autism is a big plus though, but not enough.
Obama got a Nobel prize, so why cant SRK get an oscar. But you never know how low kaangi can stoop to, may be they will make a deal of going easy on Monsanto and other Agri giants in return?

If it takes SRK so much effort to promote his movie wonder what poor Salman Khan needs to do? More importantly SRK will not act in this movie since it might hurt the sensibilities of his zaat bhais/behens. As far as I know neither Central Govt nor State Govt.s are in the business of making movies. It is a commercial activity with a clear goal of making money (even the art-house movies have this goal – however much they may scream that it is art for art’s sake:)) as in the case of any other business.
India makes roughly about 1000 movies/year. So the question to be asked is why no one seems to be interested in making a movie on Kashmiri Pandits?
Isn’t it a good business proposition? Isn’t any one sure of getting back his/her monies with decent amount of profit? No one can find good and riveting stories to tell in this subject? If that’s the case it’s good time to ask why. If the Bombaywallahs and Dilliwallahs can make movies on hundreds of sundry themes it’s surprising there are no takers for Kashmiri Pandits. Ofc some small-medium scale movies have been made on this but none that created a great deal of stir in Indian psyche or a big budget movie for that matter.
I am sure there are several touching stories to be told about their plight. But it’s also clear that most of the producers think it is not a lucrative subject. Otherwise we would have seen movies by the dozen on this theme by this time and many a Chopra, Barjatya, Johar or a Ghai would have laughed away to the bank – here or in Swiss Alps.
SRK and KJo aren’t the only movie folks in India and Bollywood is surely not a one horse town. There are several other big fish out there. For eg. AB (both senior and Junior), Akshay Kumar, Hrithik Roshan – just to name a few.
Why they wouldn’t take up this? Which ‘zaat bhais/behens’ would they be offending by doing so?

I didn’t say the GOI or J&K govt is in the business of making movies. What I was alluding to was these govts have failed in rehabilitating the kashmiri pandits back in J&K where they rightfully belong and have allowed them to wallow as refugees in their own country. Now, they are busy rehabilitating the terrorists from POK (as per the recent invitation of our Home Minister to these thugs).
AB father and son duo are busy feteing the papistani artists in the name of Amaan Ki Asha…the most brain dead idea that one can come up with, Akshay Kumar is not a big producer and Hrithik is married to Sanjay Khan’s daughter and hence might be very concerned about offending his FIL and wife, if he acted/made a movie on Kashmiri Pandits which obviously has to show why they ended up as refugees in their own country.
Remember, Akbar Khan who is Sanjay Khan’s brother went on record to deride his own brother Feroz Khan for saying India is a better secular democarcy than Papistan ;)

I dont know if this buffoon gets an oscar for reel acting… but going by the way he buckled under the pressure of some mullahs in Kolkata, he surely deserves some prizes for real life acting.
When Shiva Sena opposed him for his utterances on Pakis being good neighbours, all the sickularists went ballistic on Sena. Rajdeep was shrill when he was shouting at the top of his voice while interviewing Uddhav Thackrey. Burkha n her gang were no less subdued.

Till now 15 people are killed and scores of others are injured. Paki groups have accepted it as their handiwork. But for this bastard Khan it is an insignificant matter. No apologies, no regrets.
But one Muslim youth committed suicide, this was branded as murder, father of the girl implicated, courts yet to give their verdict. Look at the reaction of this buffoon.
