2 Qs to “independent researcher” Rajiv Malhotra

    1) Why no interview on the banks of Ganga?

    2) Why no Q on the identity of the person in the video?

Looks like this one is again made ‘cleverly’ by his own folks. He just needs to answer one question – whether he was the actor in the tape that was aired or not.

He is asked about everything else than this question!!!

    God Save him.

This interview is hilarious. They could have as well been talking about the women’s reservation bill. Not one mention of the ranjitha video. The problem for Nithya is that the video is too evocative – swami in saffron making love to an actress. A deadly combination. It is very difficult or rather impossible to erase this image of Nithya from public conciousness. How much ever Rajeev and his ilk try with their diversionary tactics this image will remain eternal.

As Nithya will realize soon the time when this video was shot was the most momentous event of his life. The fact is Nithya although a osho plagiarizer is not courageous like Osho who proclaimed that ‘Enlightenment is not Impotence’ and he gave two hoots for tradition and traditional people. That gave Osho license to do whatever he or his disciples wanted. Nithya instead played on the traditional religious card with saffron robes, titles like paramahamsa, vedic temples, kumbh mela and hobnobbing with mathadipathis, sri sris, babas and other swamis. Most of the people who donated money and other services expected him to be a sadhu in this context. Unfortunately Nithya was caught with his dhoti down and this was recorded.
The best thing for Nithya would be to own up his sex act. He can fight the rest of the cases with all his evidence. Honesty will help in countering the public rage. Ask his devotees for forgiveness if he they have been having this image of him as a celibate sadhu.

Nithya is nervous and fidgety and it is good to see a megalomaniac Guru come down from his pedestal and nodding his head like a schoolboy eager to escape punishment.

I believe he is holed up in one of his ‘ashram’ bunkers and getting all PR worked up.

It is a shame to see a ‘jeevan mukta / Paramahamsa / enlightened being’ getting involved in these type of stuff. He claims to be in the same category of many whom we should not even name in his context – like Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and Shankara.

I agree that the best for him is to confirm whether it is him in the video and be done with it. He should have the courage to let what ever would go because of this admission and build it all over again in his new level of life..

    This interview is meaningless.
Where is Rama Sene and Pramod Muthalik. They wanted to marry the dating lovers of valentine day. Why don’t they drag this swamiji and get him married to Ranjitha. That will solve all problems for the swami, the media and the public.

This ‘honest’ and ‘straight forward’ interviewer, doesn’t ask any uncomfortable, unanswerable questions.

    Sample the honest answers:
“In Bidadi ashram sandlewood is growing by itself”!! Anyone who knows the geography of the place know that’s not possible!

“Land was donated by Sajjanrao family”, But, govt. says it was cattle grazing land, belonging to govt. In legal terms, it is a land that govt. permitted a farmer adjoining that land to temporarily use, but when the farmer sold the property he transfered the posession of this land, which in reality didn’t belong to him. In some cases govt. gives an option for farmer to buy it at a nominal rate, but apprently in this case that didn’t happen too.

Sajjan rao family, most probably bought the Patta land, and got possession of this govt. land too.. But, as a policy, govt. has stopped offering such land for sale. So, when they ‘donated’ the land, this govt. land posession too would’ve been passed to ashram.

Ashram won’t have any claim on this land, if title continues to be with govt. How can someone donate land that doesn’t belong to them?

And what about Malhotra! Honest questions?? It was more like he was answering/defending the swamy!!

Wonder what prompted an otherwise accomplished man to do this?!

    **

    Here is the amazing part.

Sanyasa is supposed to mean renunciation of all ownerships, of all attachments, of all desires.

Here we have a sanyasi saying.. I own the land which I got thru donation… Well, not that he was following other aspects of ’sanyasa’..

    :-)

Amazing how shameless some folks can be…

Let me introduce you this new friend of Nit.
Rajiv Malhotra claims that he is a researcher and philanthropist. His philanthropic act is publishing Hindu Vendanta in the west. His research is on Hindu religion. Now you get it what kind of input he can bring to the table.
Nit is not answering our questions. But providing irrelevant information.

All that we want to know is
    1) Can Nit call himself a Sanyasi?
    2) Can Nit hold the title Swami?
    3) Can Nit wear kAvi after doing what he did on video?

Nit has to introspect his actions based on the significance the titles like swamy, and color kAvi imply to a Hindu.

Nit is a bag of shit and whoever is coming around him are getting smelly now.. After sachchidananda it is now Rajiv Malhotra who started stinking bigtime.

While this pseudo swami is doomed and will come out of his cave only when he is sure the cops will not arrest him, why have the other big frauds like Sri Sri Ravishankar and Sai Baba gone silent all of a sudden?

Will these Sri Sri and Baba ever get exposed, considering the huge resources, unaccounted funds and political clout they have?

This is another contradiction – while his folks claim that he is in Kumba Mela; this news states that he is in Tamil Nadu!!!! Is there a Kumba Mela there as well?

Shame that he is calling himself Paramahamsa!
    =========================================
    http://www.starofmysore.com/main.asp?type=news&item=23813

Mysore, Mar. 11- In a surprise move, the controversial Paramahamsa Nithyananda Swami, allegedly involved in a sex scandal, recently appeared before well-known researcher Rajiv Malhotra at Villupuram, TN and spoke at length about the various allegations.

Referring to the land deal, the Swamiji said that it was owned by a legally constituted Trust. When Malhotra asked about the death of the foreigner, he categorically said that the death was an accidental one. He said the local Police were informed about it and an investigation was made into the cause of the death.

As regards the charge that children were being kept captive in the Ashram, the Swamiji said this was a ‘pure lie’.

About the rape charge made in Tamil Nadu, the Swamiji said there was no FIR filed at any time. This was part of the conspiracy to create confusion, he asserted. When asked about the charge that stacks of sandalwood were found in the Ashram premises, the Swamiji replied that there were several sandalwood trees in the campus and very often they were being stolen by smugglers. This had been brought to the notice of the Police and the forest department, who had made an inspection and told us to keep the sandal pieces for temple use.

When asked about illegally making money, the Swamiji said the ashram’s accounts were audited by a well-known Chartered Accountant who was also the President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.

10 minutes of action vs 10 years of action!

Swami Nithyananda has become a celebrity in a single day, because of the video that got released last week! After reading some blogs/comments, I felt, I wanted to give my opinion on some of the common questions.

    1) How can a sannyasin (Nithyananda) enjoy women?
Sannyas is a practice of renouncing attachments to the material world, not in anyway renouncing the material world. A Sannyasin can enjoy all the sensual pleasure, but without having attachment to it.

    2) Nithyananda preaches brahmacharya, but he himself is not a Brahmacharya?!
Brahmacharya is a process of disciplining yourself from falling into sensual pleasures. It is a practice which appears to be refraining from pleasures of the world, but its whole purpose is for you to enjoy both the inner world (spirituality) and outer world (material world).
Is Nithyananda going to be benefited anyway, if you practise brahmacharya?….NO!. It is for your own benefit. When you have disciplined yourself or when you are more conscious of yourself and your action, then you can enjoy pleasures of the world. In fact you can really enjoy, when you are aware of yourself
In Vedic gurukul system, brahmacharya is practiced during teenage years, following which, the student is sent to the real world to experience all the pleasures and pains with no attachment to it. If he prefers marriage… he can even get married and live a family life. All the saptha rishis have got married.
Nithyananda didn’t ask everyone to be a brahmacharya, In fact most of his disciples are married and he himself presided over some of his disciple’s marriage.
    In short…..
A Kid studying first standard cannot ask his father “ You are asking me to do homework, but you go to movie”. Any man of sense would understand, homework is for kids benefit

    3) Did Ramanamaharshi or Buddha enjoyed women/sensual pleasures after enlightenment? Didn’t they live a life of a Saint? Then why can’t Nithyananda be like that?
Let me try to change the Upanishad story for this situation…
Two parrots are sitting in a tree…one parrot (Miserable parrot) is eating the fruits of sour/bitter taste, because it is not aware of what it is eating…so it simply lives a miserable life. Another Parrot (Enlightened) informs the miserable one “Hey listen…you can eat sweet fruits…look here” after eating the sweet fruit, miserable parrot started worshipping the enlightened one. Next day the miserable parrot could not believe its eyes when it sees the enlightened one eating a fruit of sour taste and enjoying it. Now this miserable parrot becomes more miserable and forms a group against enlightened one shouting with a slogan “You cheated us…your enlightenment is fake”.

Don’t be that miserable parrot, listen to this…

Whole purpose of life is to experience life….then why you wanted only sweet fruits?! Experience sour…it has its own taste. Experience the bitter…it has its own taste and benefits. Experience everything…your life would be richer. Now, who is responsible for making the choice what fruit to be eaten?! Its individual’s choice! Ramanamaharshi, Buddha didn’t enjoy, because they didn’t want to. Krishna, Jesus, Mohammed lived with women, because that’s the way they wanted to live. It is individual’s freedom! We cannot expect every flower that blossoms in a garden to be roses or jasmine. The world has millions of flowers; each has its own beauty, fragrance and uniqueness.

    4) Nithyananda, who preaches Vedic tradition, broke our great tradition! Our tradition says you have to be married to experience pleasures from women.
All the Traditions/Disciplines/Moralities are for those who live unconscious life. If you are going to a new place (God/Godliness) you follow the map (Religion). If you are very much aware of the route then why bothered to follow the map?! You can even experiment and find other ways.
If Nithyananda has done anything illegal, then Law and justice will take its action, but if you say, your religious sentiments got hurt, please examine/re-examine the teachings of your religion. Just blind worship or doing rituals can give you identity of Hindu, Muslim or Christian, but it cannot make you religious.

    5) I know I’m very conscious of myself and my actions, am I allowed doing what nithyananda did?!
Our mind always finds a shortcut…so listen to your heart, if your heart says so, you can do it, Even if the whole world is against you, you will have the courage to face it. If your mind says that… then the consequence could be sometimes favorable and sometimes not, but be watchful, you will learn from life or it will be simply a suffering.

    6) Sun TV/Lenin shouldn’t have broadcasted the private life of someone…it has made a mistake!
We do not know if it is a mistake or not, we don’t know the intention behind it! If you see in the place of SUN TV, It is a competition among TV channels, if not SUN TV, some other channel will air it.
    Lenin did Guru droha?!
Only Lenin can answer this question! Any common man would get agitated when he sees a swami sleeping with a woman. There is always a gap in understanding between individual consciousness (Nithyananda) and Group consciousness (Society/Lenin)…All enlightened masters have faced this problem, but I could simply see this incidence as something positive for Swami Nithyananda.

If there is no Oregon Commune and surrounding controversies, Osho’s life story might not have been that spicy
If Krishna didn’t play with Gopikas, his life story might not have been that juicy
If there is no Crucifixion of Jesus, there is no Jesus
If Nithyananda has said, “I’m a saint I shouldn’t touch women”, then he is just a brahmachari who is on his way to reach god.

I didn’t see any guilt on his face in that video. I didn’t even see him doing any amorous move towards that woman; in fact it was the other way.
In a way, thanks to SUN TV for adding a peacock feather to his crown and showing to the world Nithyananda is not a uni-color saint, but a multicolored enlightened person

India has closed the door to OSHO and missed a lot, I hope it will not do the same mistake again for Swami Nithyananda.

I don’t know if you have immigrated to US and when you did so.. But, if you are not aware of the situation in India, today, even Prime Minister or supreme court will be helpless if a media house decides to drag a person down, with a plausible wrong doing.

Media is so powerful, it is scary. We Indians can only hope they use it judiciously to spoil the games of the likes of Nityananda, and not use it salaciously to spoil innocent lives like Padmapriya (who saw no way but to commit suicide on barrage of coverage by TV9).

It is saddening an accomplished person like Malhotra shamelessly defending the indefensible.

The issue is being dragged and dragged and it seems to be prolonging forever. Whatever the Swamiji did is wrong in the eyes of those who venerate and follow him. The Swamiji himself should come out with strong proofs to defends his innocence in this case. Whatever happens, his name is tainted now.

Sanyasa itself is renouncing all worldly wealth and pleasures and following spirituality through body, mind and soul. Nityananda Paramahamsa may have had “enlightenment” in the initial phase but later once the devout followers increased and money, properties came in, he fell from grace and corrupted himself by enjoying sensual pleasures. And the result is what we are seeing now.

His non-adherence to Sanyasa and Brahmacharya (which actually is very difficult to follow – for reference please read Swamy Sivananda’s Brahmacharya treatise at http://www.dlshq.org/teachings/brahmacharya.htm – Kaaya Vaachaa Manasaa Brahmacharya is a must for Sanyasi) has led to his downfall. Hope this becomes an examples for other who call themselves “Godmen”.

Today spirituality is a billion dollar plus industry. It is like any other business. Some spiritual houses function like coporate companies and cater to IT-BT tribes mainly. “Corporate Spiritualiy” is on a high these days and no matter whatever is said and done they are here to stay. By the way, one question crops up here – Why do we need Godmen?

Any Guru is judged based on the quality of his teachings, his ability to solve individual problems in the present day. On both these issues Nityananda has scored high marks and therefore he has such a huge Indian and Western following. Yes, what he did on the video is still somewhat a mystery. But for a true seeker who has really benefited from the Guru and who has turned his life around because of the Guru, these things don’t matter. This episode clearly tells that Guru and even God according to Hinduism can be imperfect. That’s what all this is about. I am glad this is happening in real time. Thank You.

to see if Forbes knnows about Rajiv Malhotra. See how vinod khosla gets shown in billionaire list but not Rajiv Malhotra.

Since you talked about Tax exemption I checked with IRS data.
Infinity Foundation at Princeton does not have tax exemption status.

May be this a million dollar business … so I checked with D&B database.
I see infinity foundation there with Rajiv Malhotra with a sale of USD 80000 last year. It has three employees

I have hosted a copy of D&B report I obtained at link given below

I was quite intriqued when Rajeev Malhotra joined the fray to save sccami Nithya Paramahimsa. Now he is going to play the ‘Hindooism is in danger card’. Captitalize on the right wing paronia about the mullah-marxist-missionary plot to denigrate Hindu traditions and gurus. Attack Sun TV for their pro dravidian and anti-hindu tilt and so on.
However the reality is quite different. Sun TV owned channels like Udaya promote all things which the original DK never accepted. S.K. Jain’s jyotisha was their high TRP program. The other channel TV9 cater to every possible traditional beliefs of vedic religion – ekadashi, grahana, jyotisha, yoga, homa, havana, reincarnation and all. Still these channels are against the scammi and going after him. Even the Kumbh mela commitee has revoked the land rented to Nithy. It would be difficult for Rajeev to polarize this whole thing into Hindu versus the others.
The basic fact here is Nithy’s sex tape sells and gets more TRP. Much of Rajeevs defense of Scammi will go unheard. The best thing Mr Billioniare (with big B) Malhotra can do is extricate Nithya from the finanacial frauds, take him to his Princeton home and introduce Nithya to the world as the latest and best tantric sex guru. They can conduct tantric sex workshops all over US of A and live appily ever after.

I am not a religious person, but if you truly want to use religious reference here is one:

In Bhagavadgita (18.2) Krishna says that the sages consider Samnyasa as renunciation of selfish work. Wise define Tyaaga as the renunciation of attachment to the fruits of all work.

So, Sanyasa is not leaving attachments, that’s tyaaga. Sanyasa is about not seeking all selfish pleasures.

I don’t know if Nityananda ever claimed to be a sanyasi. And if he ever broke a law (most probably did break quite a few). But, he certainly broke a covenant between a guru and a follower, when he broke what he himself preached.

Plz dont try to understand it literally, see what I am trying to say
I’m saying not to cling to the experience, am not saying you should do things superficially with out your full involvement, infact you have to do it with full involvement…otherwise it is like incomplete painting, you wouldn’t be comfortable till you finish it.
Words can be interpreted many ways, so don’t be very particular about the definitions
I understand what you are trying to say, but I can interpret your definitions in this way as well…
Samnyasa as renunciation of selfish work: Then is it charity work?
Wise define Tyaaga as the renunciation of attachment to the fruits of all work: If my employer is not paying me salary, shud I/shudnt I expect the fruits for my action?
    ——————————–
” I don’t know if Nithyananda ever claimed to be a sanyasi. And if he ever broke a law (most probably did break quite a few). But, he certainly broke a covenant between a guru and a follower, when he broke what he himself preached.”

See if you could understand this
Harkol, Ram and Lakshman climbing a mountain. lakshman is not climbing but just watching harkol and Ram climbing. Harkol is a good climber, so he/she climbed fast, suddenly the way became very steep and you could have almost fallen in to a ditch but you narrowly escaped from it. Now you have reached the top and giving advice to Ram to be careful in that Yama (Dead) spot. Ram completely understands what you are saying and taking care of the situation.
But poor lakshman who is not even trying to climb is passing a judgement harkol is advising ram but he/she herself is sitting on the top of the mountain.
If harkol wants she/he can come to ram’s place and take him to top or he can simply give advice…thats between harkol and Ram.

You see Nithyananda (Harkol)and his disciples (Ram) didnt have any problem after this incidence, but for public (lakshman) it became a playground where they can pass any judgements.

    @ Murthy
I’m not the right person to answer your question…coz there is no place in your cup, it is very much full of your opinions. Even if I answer you, you will try to prove you are right and I’m wrong and Nithyananda is wrong, if you are really interested, read OSHO.
Outcome of the action (sex) is human being, in a way you are doing gods most beautiful painting…so can sex be an ugly act?! Meditate

First of all I am not against you personally. If the cup is full we can switch to a handey.

How did you imply that sex is bad from my statement?

Wearing a sanyasi vesha and corrupting it’s values is what is wrong. Osho was futuristic -I agree – but for what- for good. No. Even now a Indian who becomes a sex/money slave in foreign land still is called a crook.

I know Americanized person can only talk like a American.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Life,_liberty_and_the_pursuit_of_happiness
There is a inherent clause of right to privacy under this pursuit.
That’s why truth and honesty are the last virtues of citizen and hiding the first virtue of law in America.
    Ernst and Young drowned Lehmann.
    India also picked up
    PWC drowned Satyam.
So corruption is bad – as Gandhi said Truth and Non-violence are as old and solid as hills. April 2nd he is going to Perambadur court. Legally he may win but morally he has lost.

According to you, harkol is nityananda :) please be humble with fellow commenters.

Twisted analogy, but here is what I think : I have nothing against people following Nityananda, after understanding what he is. Afterall he’s their guru/role model. Lakshmana, in your analogy, is absolutely right in counseling Ram about Harkol. It is up to Ram to take it or leave it.

Since Nityananda is preaching morality, it is absolutely right for people/TVs to inquire into his own morality, and expose it to public who may want to follow him even after.

Tend to agree here…. but the “deep samadi”, experimant, playing victim is what puts off. The whole requirement of tyaagi, brahmachai, sanysi etc of a guru is unfair. If you need knowledge from someone why judge on this criteria. Do sex is such a bad thing that one who abstain from it, will only be a guru, padri pure soul worthy of following????

    >Do sex is such a bad thing that one who abstain from it,

No sir. In fact, the Hindu Mutt/Sanyasa system is rather cruel, and ideally the scriptures say, you should enter Sanyasa, only after having gone thru Grihastashrama (Marriage). But, in case of Hindu Mutts, small children are selected and indoctrinated to become Pontiffs, who are supposed to remain celibate all their lives. It’s cruel.

In fact, I admire the Ex-Subramanya Pontiff (Vidhyabhushana Thirtha), who left sanyasa and is now a well known Carnatic singer. He had the courage to face the reality of his needs and accept it as truth, instead of living a lie. Today he lives happily with hi wife and two kids in Bangalore.

But, It is the hypocrisy and the lie of someone claiming to be a Sanyasi while not being one, and fooling others into believing he is one is what irks you. Even now Nityananda claims he doesn’t have ‘need’ for another person.
