For weeks, the bush telegraph in Delhi was abuzz with rumours that the Wikileak cables on India would contain something damaging about Rahul Gandhi‘s proclivities. But when it arrived this morning, it showed that it is not just his mentor Digvijay Singh who sees a Hindu ghost whereever he desires to.
The “former future prime minister of India” if things continue to go as they are for the Congress, it showed, has another pet hypothesis besides his two-nation theory of India.
The son of Sonia and Rajiv, the grandson of Indira, and the great grandson of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, allegedly told the US ambassador to India, Timothy Roemer, in August last year that he felt that the growth of “radicalised Hindu groups” which create religious tensions in India could pose a bigger threat to the country than activities of groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba.
“[Although] there was evidence of some support for (Islamic terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba) among certain elements in India’s indigenous Muslim community, the bigger threat may be the growth of radicalised Hindu groups, which create religious tensions and political confrontations with the Muslim community,” The Guardian quotes him as saying.
Rahul Gandhi has since clarified, saying that he considered terrorism and communalism of all types as a threat to India.
While the alleged involvement of fringe Hindu groups, bordering on the lunatic, is something that has come up in various bomb blasts, is certainly an uncomfortable thought, the very fact that a man who is perceived and projected as the next big hope, could even be holding such a worldview is astonishing. And that he could be broadcasting this that to a newly arrived American over lunch.
Questions: Is Rahul Gandhi right? Or is he merely appealing to the minority “vote-bank”? Is the “wikileak” on Rahul a conspiracy, as suggested by the Congress spokesman? Will his charge go down well with voters? Or will it blow his prime ministerial dreams to smithereens?

The American Ambassador must have been testing the waters when he asked Rahul Gandhi about terrorism. Can anybody believe that the ambassador had come to India without being thoroughly briefed on terrorism? And he got his story. The cable not only told Washington that Roemer was doing his job, but also how Indians, even the crown prince can be so garrulous.

We can’t take his comments on Hindu Extremist groups from the complete context and see them separately.
And the extremist Hindu group he was referring to is Shivsena

Here are his words as reported by Cable in complete context
‘Responding to the ambassador’s query about Lashkar-e-Tayiba’s activities in the region and immediate threat to India, Gandhi said there was evidence of some support for the group among certain elements in India’s indigenous Muslim community’
‘However, Gandhi warned that the bigger threat may be the growth of radicalised Hindu groups, which create religious tensions and political confrontations with the Muslim community’
The risk of a ‘home-grown’ extremist front, reacting to terror attacks coming from Pakistan or from Islamist groups in India, was a growing concern and one that demanded constant attention
It is obvious that Rahul Gandhi did not support any community. He equally commented Muslim and Hindu extremist groups.
He mentioned that bigger threat MAY BE the growth of radicalised Hindu groups. He did not say that bigger threat IS THE radicalised Hindu groups. He said all these things in response to the ambassador’s query.

Its not at all surprising that such a thing has come out from Rahul “g”. He is not strong enough to take on the collective might of Islamic terrorists and their ubiquitous hidden supporters in India.
What he can certainly do is complete his and his mother’s mission of seeing to it that his religion has a stronger environment to grow. For this he needs power. And for power he needs the support of muslims. And to get the support of muslims, he needs to do all these stuff. I am not at all surprised by this.

Rahul Gandhi is not mature enough. Probably having been away from the country for most part, he may not be quite aware of the country’s situation. Also, he might have been given wrong information by vested interests, based on which he might have formed an opinion. Rajiv Gandhi had at least a vision. Rahul does not seem to have.

The country is getting tired of the cynical games UPA is playing by communalising fight against terrorism and trivialising peoples demand for action against corruption. I have nothing against an uneducated person coming leadins the country if he/she is honest and capable. My grouse against Gandy family is that it is undeducated, easily manipulatable and dangerous and works with ulterior motives that are detrimental to the nations interest and still pose as Tyaagamurthy’s. Look at the 2G scam, all along Raja was being defended by Caangress, suddenly when it is evident that it cannot be done for ever, CBI is going after Raja and DMK, thus taking the heat off the Gaandy family and the bench warmer prime minister. Same this happened in the Oil for Food Scam, when Caangress was implicated. Natwar Singh was made the scapegoat and asked to hold the bucket when the numero uno family walked away with the loot.

As for the LTTE, it is not of Congress making, it is an ethnic conflict between the Sinhalese and the Tamil groups, with Sri Lankan Tamils being marginalized increasingly (even today, when recently the tamil version of the Sri Lankan anthem was scrapped). The blunder Rajiv Gandhi did commit was to interfere and take sides by sending IPK forces to Sri Lanka. That sealed his fate. The Tamils saw it as a betrayal and took their revenge.
Sometimes it is better to sit on the fence.

Aghast says we all should bow at the altar of Congress for giving us such good economic performance. The same set of chamchas will never lose an opportunity to credit Gujarati people for the sterling economic progress shown by that state since Narendra Modi has taken over as the CM of the state!
Simple Sir says that we should forever be slaves under the Congress because Indira G and Rajiv G were assassinated by the demons they created. Never mind the fact that the demons they created not only killed the creators but also wreaked havoc on citizens of this country.
Raj says that because Advani was born in Sindh, which was very much a part of the then undivided India, he is less trustworthy than Rahul G who was born to an Italian mother who insisted on retaining her Italian passport for a long long time….. we still don’t know if Rahul G holds an Italian passport!!!
Whoa people!!! What a bunch we have got here????
This is not their problem though, I must say. This is the way congress thinks and acts.
For 53-54 years out of the 63 years of post independence period, they were in power. Yet whenever something goes wrong, they point fingers at the five odd years of BJP ruled period. Even in the present 2G scam, they are saying that BJP government did this first come first serve method of telecom allotment, we are simply following their rules, why penalize us?? Can anything be more shameful than this?? And we have a whole plethora of people who are supporting this kind of brazen argument.
We have a PM who shuts his mouth when the parliament session is in progress. And miraculously opens it in a party forum to state that he is open to be questioned by the PAC if it wishes to do so!!! What prevented him from saying the same when the parliament session was in progress, no one knows. For that matter, no one knows why he was satisfied only in writing letters after letters to Raja while he looted this country!!!
Let us look at a practical sceanario… there is this Inspector of Police, who closes his eyes and repeatedly says no crime is being committed when infact, a gang rape is happening right in front of his police station. Later, when this incident comes to public light, he goes on to say that he is willing to appear before any committee to explain his inaction…. What do you call such an inspector??? Our PM today finds himself in the same situation when it comes to 2G Scam.
And what can we say about the clown prince??? He repeatedly talks about aam aadmi and the divide between Bharat and India. Yet when the prices of essential commodities have soared to unprecedented heights, because of which, the aam aadmi is actually suffering, he is nowhere in the picture to stem the rot!!! When every downward revision of petrol prices were considered to be the gift of Nun to the nation, I wonder why people are silent about the gifting ability of Nun when the prices are hiked!!!
Ofcourse, we know the answer. The culprit is NDA. They did not take enough measures to ensure that Onions were cultivated in enough land to meet the needs of the people. The price rise happened during their period of rule too. They did not take enough action to prevent the price rise happening for the next hundred years……
I am sure, this line of thought will find many takers amongst the people who support Congress.

Did you know that amongst all the terrorist outfits that are currently operating in the world (yes, including the Al Qaeda), the most intellignet, the most cunning and the most ruthless terrorist outfits are based out of our own backyard!!!! And we didn’t even recognise this. Thanks to the fantastic “couple” Diggy Raja and Rahul G, we are made aware of this fact. So we should be calling ourselves STUPID.
See, when Pakistan trained militants landed in India, went on a shooting spree to kill hundreds of civilians, policemen etc., they were not really acting on the orders issued by their masters in Islamabad. The real strings behind the puppet show was RSS!!!
How so, you may ask?? After Sri Karkare took over the investigation of Malegaon blasts and keyed in on a couple of activists who had ties with RSS, the big bosses of RSS got jittery. They immediately contacted Dawood I to carry out this terrorist activity with the sole intention of getting rid of Sri Karkare.
Dawood I, delighted at this offer from RSS, jumped at it. Using his good offices with the Pak govt, he contacted Lashkar E Tayyiba to chalk out the plan. ISI helped LET to train young men in the art of warfare and ten such young men were sent on a suicidal mission to India to kill Karkare. However, they had one problem. If they directly go and kill Sri Karkare, eyes would pop out and fingers would be pointed at the HINDU terrorist organisation.
Therefore to protect the honour of these hindu terrorists, the men from LeT killed a few innocent civilians before killing Sri Karkare.
How do we know all these?? In that telephone call made by Sri Karkare to Diggy Raja ( or was it the other way round??? Hell, leave it, who in the world is going to bother about who called whom as long as we can all take pleasure in the cunningness of RSS), Diggy Raja inferred all these points.
He later on went to tutor Rahul G about his findings. It is based on this tutoring of Diggy Raja that Rahul G went and whined before the US Ambassador that he is worried about the rise of hindu terrorists.
Unfortunately for Rahul G, this whining of his got published and backfired very badly. He summoned his teacher and said ” How dare you cook stories like this? Should the whole country know how stupid I am?”.
Diggy Raja, who was dreaming of becoming HM when his student becomes PM hit the panic button. He said give me one chance, I will prove my theory”.
A couple of days later, in the Congress party plenary session, Diggy Raja got his opportunity to prove his theory of how Hindu Terrorists organised the attack in Mumbai and were far more dangerous than the Islamic terrorists. He compared hindu Terrorists with Nazis!!!
People, please dont laugh at this immaturity. Remember, we are talking about Congress here, so any kind of statement goes. Never mind the fact that Nazis were instrumental in killing more than 6 million jews and the Hindu Terrorists had not even managed to accomplish .00015% of what Nazis did. (Malegaon blasts killed 6, samjautha blast killed 70 & Mecca Masjid blast killed about 14). This was not what he intended to show.
Immediately after his statement, Israel issued a press release which said Hindu Terrorists cannot be compared with Nazis. Now there was a smug look on Diggy Raja!!! He cried ” Look who is supporting Hindu Terrorists??? Israel! Don’t we all know that for Muslims, enemy number 1 is Israel and its Jews??? Wasn’t there a similar story as to how Israeli Jews were the ones behind the attack on World Trade Center and how the blame got shifted to Al Qaeda????”
Now Rahul G is a contented man. He no longer doubts his teacher and together they are scheming to tutor us, THE STUPID INDIANS, more such theories.
( With due apologies to M J Akbar for getting inspired by his editorial while writing this post)

“In other words, the pseudo educated views of Vinay, Gaby and the others, seem to be saying that Congress PM’s deserve to be killed because they created LTTE and Bhindranwale.”
You are a Chutiya. I never said said that they deserve to be killed. I was just responding to your asinine comment that Congress had nothing to do with breeding of terrorists.
But now, when I come to think of it, why should they not have been tried and hanged for their crimes? The people who propped up those organizations are responsible for thousands of deaths, broken families, maimed and injured people, and so on. Why, pray, should they not be held responsible for their actions?
Forget individual deaths, the reckless actions actually threatened the integrity of entire countries. Ideally, they should have had to stand in court in front of the people of India!
But you are still talking the same old shit about Congress eliminating Punjab terrorism. Sure, they did, but I fail to see why they should be praised for it, when they were actually responsible for starting it in the first place. How about, I punch you around till your nose and cheekbones are a mangled jumble of blood and bones, and then drive you to the hospital, and also pay for all your expenses down to the last rupee. By your same logic with which you are licking congress c*nt, you ought to be grateful to me for ending your misery, don’t you think?
Giving credit for liberalization and economic growth to Congress is at least reasonable and defensible to some extent. But really, it will irritate anyone when people like you start defending the indefensible, and talk nonsense without accepting faults which need to be accepted.

Well, I concede that. The 1971 war went a long way in ensuring India’s long term security. Just imagine present day Bangladesh with nuclear missiles pointing at Calcutta!
But that doesn’t mean people will keep quiet about her numerous follies and catastrophic actions. The heyday of Khalistan terrorism was India’s most difficult and most shameful period. Indira Gandhi also screwed the economy over in more ways than one, by inappropriate economic policy. And who can forget the Emergency – the only blemish in India’s democratic rule. Who can forget the coterie of yes-men she caused to blossom around her?
In the final analysis, she did more harm than good to India during her tenure. The 1971 war and the Pokhran explosion were the only big-ticket things that she can justifiably boast of.

NDA’s contribution was warmly hugging the man who started Kargil war. It built few roads here and there, but most of the time, NDA spent time in reciting poetry. And making money. While our economy sank to the pits going as low as 4%. Income was low, income tax was high, agriculture growth was abysmal, tele density was a pathetic 14% as compared to 62% now.
All these are facts. Nothing is an assumption. Where as, you assume that RTI is an achievement of NDA. This Kejriwal guy was the one who diligently pushed the RTI under Sonia Gandhi’s presidentship of Congress. Sonia in turn, asked the government to implement the RTI.
Here is the link to prove that it was UPA which took the lead in passing RTI. I will give 1000 links to prove that RTI is an achievement of UPA.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Right_to_Information_Act
While NDA was hemming and hawing, it was MMS’s Congress which passed the bill in parliament.
2. Gujarat was prosperous even before Modi came in. India was not prosperous when NDA was in power. But it became an economic giant when UPA came to power.
That.
That is the difference between UPA and NDA.
3. I am not holding any brief for Congress’s failures in their 55 years. I am only comparing NDA with UPA. So please save your tantrums.
4. Whether India created Bhindranwale or not, the fact is she had the guts to crush it. And paid for it with her life. Rajiv had the guts to send indian army to Lanka inspite of opposition from Tamil Nadu politicians. He paid for it with his life.
That is the guts shown by Congress of the past. They paid for it with their lives because terrorists did not like these strong actions.
This is a fact. Everything else is delusional.
5. Kelu and Co is directly insulting the Supreme Court of India. Kelu and Co is directly insulting a very senior member of BJP called Murli Manohar Joshi, who heads the PAC and our learned PM has said he will appear before PAC.
That.
That is accountability UPA style. It is a heroic and historic first for any PM to offer to appear before a parliamentary committee. As opposed to BJP CM’s – who are forever running away from facing the battlefield.
Supreme court has ordered that the 2G scam be investigated by CBI and that it will monitor it regularly.
When a neutral body like the Supreme court itself is monitoring the scam, what purpose will a JPC serve, which has no investigative powers?
After the JPC goes through its processes, what next? The JPC will run to the CBI or the Court – both of which are already in progress.
6. I have already given you links to rice and treasury scams so please go see it in other thread.
7. UPA took immediate step to ban export of Onions.
8. Terrorism of all sorts need to be condemned. That is what the Congress has maintained. Unlike BJP which frees Kandahar militants, Congress catches Paki militants like Kasab.
That. That is the difference between UPA and NDA.
Vinay.
1. Shows your background when you use words like Chutiya. You are neither civil nor humane. All you can do is use personal abuses – when you are confronted with logic and indisputable facts.
I do not wish do dignify you by reverting to your third grade comments.
As for the rest of the supporters of BJP:
Your govt in karnataka actually uses a dead farmer in their local BJP ads – the farmer is seen saying that the BJP government changed his life.
Sure it did. It killed him.

Whatay clamour I say! So whatever this guy says becomes news or what? Then people say he is a non-entity and purely a media creation. Where’s the reality? Is he too big a fish or a small fry? Confusing times.
Now that most of the churumuri faithful have offered the rupees and more, my humble 50 paise on this :
He is a callow fellow who has got the break into the big league purely because of the family. But for the family tag, he would probably have ended up in a London bank dealing with pension accounts of some dowagers. So really there’s no need to get into apocalyptic fits on what this guy with simplistic theories has to say. And our man does say lots of things like a parrot which hardly make much sense.
But for a change, I don’t see anything wrong with what he is saying. This is precisely what many of my friends of the deep saffron hue say all the time privately – ‘If all Hindus get united, in no time we can show ‘them’ the place’. That’s loaded with euphemisms. You know it’s not a touristy statement for sight seeing. The ‘place’ is mostly Jannat/Jahannum or in the very least Pakistan.
What’s left unsaid is the means that will be adapted to do that job. But does it take great insights to understand what those means could be? Surely not satyagraha? That’s the beauty of numbers. A roused and heated 85+ crore can just steamroll 15+ crore. Isn’t that what Rahul baba is saying?

Sir, his simplistic theories secularly get converted to govt. policy overnight. You should solicit views on this from a person called Navin Patnaik.

Wow, what a theory, what a great logic. What do you suggest; we import folks from other conutries or purge 85 to 15, or a demographic churn till it becomes 50, 50.

Maybe that’s because you have nothing to say, knowing fully well that I am right – the congress leaders of that period deserve to be condemned for outright reckless adventurism. Why are you not willing to accept that well-known fact? No one on this page has said that the Gandhis deserved to be assassinated, but at the very least, people ought to have the intellectual honesty to condemn those actions which deserve to be condemned!

Sri Simple Sir, this is a Government of India website, unlike the wikipediea link you posted. Log on to this and read the first few lines. You will know the history of RTI Act.
Sri Simple Sir says that government “PROMPTLY” banned export of onions. Yesterday, Sri Simple Sir’s TV Counterpart Abhishek Manu Singhvi put his foot in the mouth when he said that rise in the price of onions in December is a regular yearly phenomenon and no one should read too much into it….So the question is, when the government knew that there would be a price rise in December, why did they allow the export of onions in the first place??? Abhishek had no answer… tried to wriggle out of the question… lets see what Sri Simple Sir comes out with!!!
This thread is about the asinine utterings of clown prince… not a place to discuss the UPA’s other blunders….

Heck No sir! I don’t claim copyright to any of these. As of now i am not under any such illusion or delusion. If you missed, this is what my ultra-saffron friends suggest. That a united 85+ crore worked-up Hindus can take ‘them’ (15+ crore in India) on a guided tour beyond the realm of life or Wagah border – whichever is nearer. It’s as if gullible Gandhi is echoing these thoughts.
All I said was both these types – my friends and Rahul Baba- seem to think it is feasible purely from a numerical superiority perspective – 85>15. Is it realistic? Nope. Should one get worked up on this as Rahul Baba seems to be? Nope. Do I want it? Nope.

In 1998, Vajpayee announced that a law to enact RTI would be passed – it did not materialize.
In the year 2000, the freedom of information bill was tabled in the parliament. After debate, it was referred to the Parliamentary Standing Committee of Home Affairs for review.
The freedom of Information Bill was passed by the parliament as the freedom of information act 2002. However, it did not enter into force as the then NDA govt. was not interested in issuing the necessary notification.
The UPA constituted the National Advisory Council after it came to power. This Council included Aruna Roy, Jean Drez – who consistently put pressure (along with Kejriwal) to pass the bill and enact a law. In response to this, the parliament passed the bill and the president of India consented the act on 15 June 2005 and implementation was started on 12th October 2005
While NDA govt, talked, UPA walked the talk.
That.
That. Is the difference between Cong and BJP.
Here are several links from govt sites, media and BJP website itself to prove that RIGHT TO INFORMATION BILL WAS passed on 15 june 2005. In fact, the bill is known as RTI act 2005 !
Show me a single newspaper clipping or cutting that shows that RTI came into effect when NDA was in power.
People like you spread rumors out of insane jealousy that UPA has revolutionary achievements to its credit. While NDA was busy creating poems.
