Kannada Prabha, the Kannada daily established by Ramnath Goenka, has a new owner from today, 1 July 2011: mobile phone baron turned businessman and member of Parliament, Rajeev Chandrasekhar.
Chandrasekhar’s Jupiter Media & Entertainment Ventures began the creeping acquisition of Kannada Prabha, valued at Rs 250 crore, through a “strategic business alliance” with Kannada Prabha Publications in March 2010.
The stake transfer is now complete, according to sources in the know, although neither side has issued a formal communication yet on the extent or completion of the acquistion.
The purchase of the paper means Chandrasekhar now has a Kannada newspaper and a Kannada news channel in his armoury in Bangalore. No other Kannada paper or channel has cross-media ownership.
Former Vijaya Karnataka editor, Vishweshwar Bhat, who was appointed editor-in-chief of Kannada Prabha in February, is slated to take simultaneous control of the Suvarna News 24×7 channel, as group editor, becoming the first Kannada journalist to have a foot in both the print and electronia media.
Kannada Prabha, which has occupied the landmark Express building on Queen’s Road in Bangalore, will move to a new premises in October which it will share with Suvarna News.

In a land of ruthlessly shameless. arrogant, power-drunk, ignorant mammon-worshippers looting the state exchequer and precious resources (greedy to the extent of a small corner 30×40 site) by the hour, becoming tax-free black money billionaires along with their close family, flunkies, reputed cohorts and friends in so-called opposition parties, all under the blessings of supposedly senior political peers and religious seers alike, it is only a matter of time, for Mr. Bhat, to succumb to the most obvious charms of obscene fortune ;-)
What the stars foretell is that the new Mallu Boss will continue to prosper, the BJP cabinet will continue to loot in broad daylight, Rahul may take the final decision, trader Gadkari will shamelessly continue his double standards keeping the moolah in mind, Yeddi will continue seeking top priority, blessings from temples and matts, Cong-I goons will continue the crocodile tears, Kumaraswamy strangely will continue to meet Yeddi’s man-Friday called astrologer K.N. Somayaji while his father and former PM of India, will continue to fast for 4 hours demanding funds for his own district alone!
Well, to quote this renowned online journal and as William Shakespeare has said, “Cheats and Cowards die many times before their deaths; the valiant never taste of death but once.”
While Justice Santosh Hegde’s final report is probably too late, one can only hope that Mr. Bhat will break the shackles, rock the political-executive-judiciary cartel and help ensure the average Kannadiga has some justice and at ;east a future to look-up to!
Meanwhile, any good and genuinely encouraging development/news nowadays (so rare) is indeed most welcome!

I am surprised that Churumuri has nothing negative to say about Vishweshwar Bhat. Isn’t he among the chaddi wearing types who should be criticized by Churumuri? Or is Churumuri tilting to the right?

Suvarna newsx24x7. No! no!!. We can’t say like that. We can Say Suvarna Advertisement x 24×7. Because its owner is MALBARI and their main In tension is only Money making. So some time I tried watch some program in this channel, But Advertisement are more longer than the any programs.So i am advising to Mr.V Bhat, do something for this. Otherwise peoples are not foolish to watch this channel.

Dear Sir,
I am one of the viewer of 9PM news. The news broadcast-ed from 830PM till 915 PM is a mess. I am totally disappointed with this.
I would request you to guide your team to broadcast the better news rather than concentrating these junk news. I never seen the proof for the same.
If this continues, definitely people loose faith on the channel.

Pl ask ambarish what all the sessions he has attended and what all the problems he has highlited in parliament.
Ask politicians wheather are they in a position to give up their assets to clear farmer loans instead of spending tax payers money.
