Yet another episode of the BJP’s non-stop nataka in Karnataka has come to an end—a quiet, wimpish end after all the fire-breathing over the weekend—but the big question still remains: is this really the end or just a temporary, mutually agreed cessation of hostilities before resumption of normal service?
On the face of it, it seems as if both sides—the B.S. Yediyurappa camp and the BJP high command—are buying time. Both are hoping the numbers of either side will whittle down. But deep down, both are afraid: Yediyurappa isn’t sure if he can be the force he is without the BJP; the party isn’t sure if it can ever win without him. Hence the repeated brinkmanship.
However, the larger issue is the use of political blackmail as a form of statecraft while the affairs of the State take a backseat with painful periodicity. The Yediyurappa gang blackmails the incumbent D.V. Sadananda Gowda with its ultimatums; the high command returns the favour.
The latest episode has come to an end only because the presidential elections are around the corner and the BJP would not like to be seen as a house divided in the eyes of the nation. As it is, it is having to counter the negative publicity being generated by Keshubhai Patel‘s antics against Narendra Modi in Gujarat.

It is sad to see how the BJP top brass have become so short sighted. By allowing BSY to continue with his 24×7 blackmail, they have ensured that they have lost Karnataka. Had they shown some guts and sacked Yeddy, the Govt, would have fallen and some one else would have formed the Govt, no doubt – but in 2014 they could have come back. Now they are destined to lose the assembly polls this year and the 2014 LS polls for Karnataka.

The BSY-BJP peace will obviously not last for more than a few days. For now it appears like Advani has spiked the ill-advised move to replace DVS, despite the canny Arun Jaitley and trader Gadkari combine’s proven bias to Yeddi.

Let me be candid to say that the community of Lingayats have spoilt the very essence of good governance right from the days of the late S Nijalingappa. Master Hiranayya had aptly depicted the sinister side of Nijalingappa in his eternal hit play LANCHAVATARA. The later bunch of Lingayats who became the CMs and ministers of Mysore (later Katnataka) were no better and they ranged from Kadidal Manjappa, S R Kanthi, B D Jatti, Virendra Patil, J H Patel, S R Bommai, Leelavati Magdi etc., and to top them all, Bookanakere Siddalingappa Yeddyurappa, who can rightly be crowned as the master scamster. I think the sole recourse is to ban leaders of this community from entering public life

Today RSS Bjp high command have been reduced to collection agents. Gadkari, jaitley and likes definitely have a monthly share in corruption of BJP ruled states. This sort of organised corruption in RSS bjp is far worse than that which exists in other political parties.
Advani, a respectable face in the gang has been totally sidelined.

The concerted efforts of Yeddi and clan to dislodge the CM is a sad reflection of the state of politics, ethics and neglect of good, responsible governance in Karnataka and our country itself. Everyone is aware that the current political tactics is obviously under the patronage of the equally manipulative and canny Gadkari and Arun Jaitley combine. The BJP high command has become so corrupt and riddled with intracine warfare that it can’t digest a non-nonsense, clean CM who is incidently too weak.
These shameless and highly corrupt MPs, MLAs and ministers openly flaunt their imported SUV’s, diamond watches, designer spectacles and overnight obscene wealth instead of reaching out to their constituencies to mitigate the suffering of the helpless people.
Instead of tacking the drought situation, lack of drinking water, power crisis, sanitation or basic roads and education, these so-called public service leaders are fighting and scrambling to grab every ton of precious natural resource, kick-backs and black money from every contract, large tracts of industrial or de-notified land and every premium corner site from BDA, MUDA..etc.
In any other country (forget Libya, Tunisia or Egypt..etc) such politicians or the members of the Yeddyurappa faction would have had to face the worst abusive in their own constituencies. Nowadays the anger among the poor public is so noticeable in the various TV debates.
Tragically, after the departure of Santosh Hegde, Karnataka has had no Lokayukta and these self-serving, totally shameless, crooked politicians are now having a whale of a time. While the spineless judiciary is chasing low-rung officials in various corruption cases that never end, we can see the likes of Yeddi, Renukacharya, Udasi, Reddy, Nirani, Eshwarappa, Ashoka, Somanna, Bommai, Kageri, Shettar, B Y Raghavendra, Yogeshwar, Shoba and many others (not to mention 1000s of greedy babu’s) of all pseudo camps ruthlessly milk the state of millions, in well-hidden scams that will sadly never surface.

When asked about Yeddi’s sudden retreat from the super-premium Jiindal ‘nature-cure’ institute (favourite haunt of some black money bollywood addicts and politicians of all parties) on the ‘outskirts’ of Blr (despite hiring highest paid legal luminaries, the courts have all barred totally exposed, clearly documented and tainted Yeddi from travelling out of Blr), one of Yeddi’s key aide told local TV:
“Operation is over. CM Sadananda and our Yeddi or Shettar are not in ICU and all our party patients are ok” Minsiter Ramdas.
Imagine this Yeddi guy (could be also a State Home Minster tomorrow!) is a state minister now and he reveals on local TV that his colleagues are sick. How true!
I am sure the local TV9 and Suvarnara TV’s ratings are shooting up with all such shocking live coverage of these shameless, crooked clowns and also thanks to the total outcry among public, especially in Blr, North Karnataka and SK districts.
Makes one wonder if these constitutionally elected (money and arrack), power-hungry decision makers have any sensitivity?
In the past we used to consider the Cong-I and JDS as real crooks, but now these so-called BJP representatives (tragically almost a quarter of them from RSS) have successfully ensured we all literally hang our head in shame for having voted them! Or at least morally supported them in the past.
As we think about this “lifetime disappointment”, the so-called high command in BJP (now led by a petty Nagpur trader and another extremely shrewd SC lawyer who, thanks to obscene black money funds, both of whom appear to have successfully managed to suffocate and subdue/overrule all those principled/honest souls in the party HQ/high command)

Advani is the only senior leader who now stands between the intense efforts led by the corrupt trio of Yeddi, Gadkari and Jaitely to force the BJP high command and RSS power brokers (now mere monthly roll-call collectors) relent to blackmailing-pressure to replace the feel-good and popular Karnataka Chief Minister Gowda. Everyone knows that CM Sadananda Gowda has not only succeeded in avoiding a major-scam free govt for a change but had also kept the most hated Yedii gang at bay.
With the state assembly session beginning on July 16, a supremely confidant and arrogant Yeddi is supposed to be busy with his astrologers on a possible date for a new cabinet, packed with his shameless cronies, none of whom hope to get re-elected.
Luckily, in the midst of such tragic, regretful and depressing developments, there is a ray of hope!
While noted personalities like B.S. Yeddyurappa, D.K. Shivakumar and mega-project builders like Girish Puravankara are easily granted interim anticipatory bail, even after Santosh Hedge’s impressive chapter, it has to be noted that there are still some extraordinary stars in the state judiciary, Judge N.K. Sudhindra Rao being one.
Most recently, Judge N.K. Sudhindra Rao also took exception to the shocking failure of the State Lokayukta police to question D.K. Shivakumar and Puravankara who came to become the illegal owners of 73 per cent of the premium land (right next to the Metro station), despite prima facie evidence of irregularities committed.
Judge N.K. Sudhindra Rao also directed the Lokayukta police to report back on the various multi-crore irregularities committed by Mr. Shivakumar and the Vyalikaval, Shanti Nagar, NTI, Bhavani and Jayanagar housing cooperative societies.
The court’s action has once again caused embarrassment to the Lokayukta police which had submitted a charge sheet on June 21 claiming that ‘no evidence’ could be found against Mr. Yeddyurappa or DKS in the scam! The so-called anti-corruption agency (which some say is itself highly corrupt after its failure to swiftly nail Yeddi, close family and flunkies, unlike the days of Santosh Hegde) also exonerated Puravankara Builders, who were allegedly the biggest beneficiaries in the major scam.

The BJP cartel led by Gadkari, Jaitley, Rajnath, Pradan, Yeddi and team seems to have succeeded in selectively leaking out the shocking news (shocking to Kannadigas but not to the insensitive and corrupt high command) that Karnataka will have another CM. People were at least hoping that Sadananda Gowda will continue as the CM while Shettar will be given the Deputy CM’s position, in order to please the crooked Yediyurappa and cronies.
The state had a corruption-free administration for the last 11 months, after Sadananda Gowda was appointed as Chief Minister. With the expected change of guard, the political history witnessed in Karnataka from 1989 to 1994 of having three Chief Ministers in a span of five years will be repeated. You will note that the Congress, which returned to power with a massive mandate in the state in 1989, replaced Veerendra Patil with S Bangarappa. Veerappa Moily replaced Bangarappa following heightened dissidence and massive scams for which no one ever got punished. In the assembly polls held in 1994, Janata Dal trounced Congress.
History is repeating itself and the BJP is now indeed doomed and all set for a definite wipeout in the next assembly polls.
Meanwhile, for another 8 months or so, Kannadigas will have to bear the daily torture of a Yeddi decided cabinet full of the most corrupt politicians without an iota of shame or self respect.

Chikkalli: Mr. Gowda perhaps isn’t in the same league of crooks as the rest of the Yeddy gang. But, he has done a signal disservice by not naming a good Lokayukta.
Also, we have seen how a good man isn’t enough – Manmohan Singh is perhaps personally most honest person to have occupied PM chair since LB Shastri. But, he has been wasted.

BJP is too shortsighted, appointing Shettar will give Yeddy such a shot in the arm, that he will blackmail the High command day in and out. And further Gowda’s removal will hurt the Vokkaliga votebank. This strategy is not going to yield any result. In a couple of months, Yeddy will be up and about asking for Shettar to be replaced with Shobha!!!
BJP high command will realise its folly in the next elections, not just in the Karnataka assembly polls but the 2014 LS polls too!!

Mr Sadananda Gowda neither had the wisdom nor the smart foresight to swiftly appoint a honest Lokayukta like the publicly recognized, honest and highly praised Judge Sudhindra Rao!
We are indeed doomed with the unimaginable prospect of a Yeddi-flunky running the state with probably the most disgusting cabinet full of the infamous clan.
A deputy CM to placate caste equations will not matter in a state where the BJP has now totally ruined itself and acutely polarised castes, much more than Bihar or UP!
Who cares: the BJP is on the path to a total rout in the next Karnataka polls while the so-called young Turks in the high command: Gadkari, Jaitely and even the most-canny chameleons like Anant Kumar or Pradan have already made millions!!
No wonder, people now believe that the BJP high command does not promote the really popular leaders like Modi or Sadanada Gowda or Suresh Kumar or Uma Bharti and many more genuine souls…
All said and done: The BJP in Karnataka is now BJP India’s albatross!

Latest news reports (intentionally leaked by the BJP high command) say that the Karnataka CM Sadananda Gowda will be replaced (despite most obvious and expected backlash from the public and local TV channels in Karnataka, not to mention from the more powerful Vokkaliga’s, Brahmin’s, Jain’s, Kurubas and all others who helped the BJP in the past)
In politics betrayal is daily feed but whatever happens with the BJP or Karnataka: with deep regret: Sadananda Gowda was actually not smart enough to be an effective MP or a powerful, no-nonsense, smart CM.
Despite his many months of power, (being fully aware of how the previous Bangarappa, S M Krishna, Deve Gowda & Kumaraswamy family focussed on their own base & district alone), Sadananda Gowda could not mitigate, or at least help with the most basic needs of the poorest folks in Puttur or Sullia or for that matter SK district as a whole. No properly asphalted roads, no electricity, sanitation, water..etc. Not even a safe, pothole-free, two-lane trunk highway to Bangalore!
Unlike Yeddi & family, Reddy and their ill-gotten billions, henceforth: our Sada will have to pay for his own chopper to land at Mottetadka – B. C. Road, Puttur. After all, the so-called highway from Blr is not safe nor motor-able!

Baliga: To give Sadananda Gowda his due, he couldn’t have built a high way in 11 months. He did set in motion a plan for a tolled tunnel road from Sakaleshpur-Gundya, which is being opposed by the Ligayat worthies of north Karnataka, who can’t bear to see a developed coastal Karnataka – which is the true power base of BJP in Karnataka.
Coastal Karnataka has been voting in BJP for 3 decades, even while Lingayats were voting for Janata & JD(U). All of a sudden BJP wants to behave as if it is all about Lingayats??
Coastal Karnataka may bring in the doom of BJP this time by ditching it after 3 decades.
