This iPhone photo of thousands of fruit bats in Mysore will blow you away

The globally acclaimed wildlife biologist M.D. Madhusudan of the Mysore-based Nature Conservation Foundation shot this composite image of fruit bats leaving their abode at Kukkarahalli Lake in Mysore on Wednesday and Thursday.

100 images shot on an iPhone7 were ‘pachak-ed’ to produce this one frame.

Also known as the Indian Flying Fox, fruit bats (Pteropus giganteus) can travel hundreds of kilometres each night. Considered a delicacy in some parts of the world, the noisy bats are increasingly seen as carriers of various diseases fatal to humans and animals.

Below is a wide angle composite photograph shot at the same location on an SLR camera. Again 100 images were compressed.
