Cellphone etiquette, as a prerequisite of civilised behaviour, is something that has completely skipped an entire generation of Indians. (And we aren’t alone.) We shout, we hiss, we send and check messages, we keep silly ringtones high in concerts and movie halls, we use it while driving, etc, without giving a damn for such prized things as privacy, civility, safety, etc.
Union minister for environment and forests, Jairam Ramesh, was in Bangalore on Tuesday. Doubtless, politicians and bureaucrats wedded to the “development agenda”, heard the the Chikmagalur-born minister with rapt attention without missing a single synecdoche and semi-colon. Home minister V.S. Acharya (right) and V.P. Baligar (centre), the principal secretary to chief minister B.S. Yediyurappa, demonstrate that they are cut from the same cloth as the rest of humanity.

Why do you assume Jairam Ramesh is more important from a common mans phone call to Acharya?
Or it could be Acharya is texting Baligar ” Dude get off the phone…its very uncultured behaviour in front of the culture minister” ?

Looking at the body language most likely this photo was taken before or after the meeting considering they are all standing as if ready to go out of the hall or just entered the hall.
Frankly, this rather shows how paparazzi have gone out of control with no sense of when to take photos. Remember how a paparazzi caused pinky toe fracture of Chidambaram in Koshy’s Bangalore last year?
May be politicians should take cue from Pranab Mukherjee who twisted ear of a pushy paparazzi last week. (http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/India/Pranab-twists-photo-journalists-ear/articleshow/4625637.cms)

Why blame Home Minister? Come on..He is Home Minister of the state and it is his duty to attend important calls 24/7 day/night.
Same media people will blame HM if he is not aware of any rumors/published fake news!

Being a Home Minister V S Acharya has to hold the fort for his boss B S Yediyurappa and should be in the know of intelligence report every two hours. Is Acharya worried about the political developments and contacting the DG Police Intelligence to know about the intentions behind the visit of Union minister for environment and forests, ‘Jai Ho” Jairam Ramesh ?

This picture ain’t from an official meeting. Acharya is checking the missed calls on his phones which he apparently missed while he was in the meeting and Baliga is returning the call back to his home informing them he’ll be in for dinner.

why do you think ministers whether state or central should be any different?
we are giving them more importance than they deserve.they do nothing and spend our money on these over publicized tours and meetings.

A pic speaks a 1000 words.
Yet a cellphone is a necessary evil. But we should respect others privacy and should adhere to a very strict code of conduct while using the electronic gadget in public.
1. Using cell phone while driving is a strict NO-NO
2. Always keep your cell phone in silent while in public place.
3. Try to avoid using it while in conversation. It is very rude to the other guy.

You are right. But nowadys it is fashion to get lots of incomming calls, and pose to be very busy. And we can notice that if someone is not getting calls, he repeatedly checks his hand set to see if the network is there or handset is on.
Also we flaunt traffic rules by speaking while driving. This not only affects us, but also others, which is very bad.
