An exit poll conducted by NDTV of the first phase of the assembly elections in Karnataka indicates a substantial improvement in the BJP’s performance in the south of the State, a setback for the Congess in Bangalore, and the JDS holding is own.
Of the 89 constituencies, the BJP is expected to get 31 seats (up 11 from last time), the Congress is expected to get 23 seats (minus 5 ) and the JDS 30 seats (minus six). The overall pattern indicates a “hung” assembly, according to Prannoy Roy, a trained psephologist.
# Of the 28 seats in the capital, the NDTV exit poll says 14 will go to the BJP, 10 to the Congress, and four to the JDS. An earlier exit poll conducted by C-Fore said the Congress and BJP could bag 13-14 seats each in Bangalore, with JDS getting 0-1.
# In the 61 constituencies outside Bangalore, the NDTV exit poll says the JDS will end up with 26 seats, BJP 17, and Congress 13 seats.
The exit poll findings indicates that the Congress gamble of using S.M. Krishna as the face of Bangalore has not paid off, according to Prannoy Roy. The sample size for the NDTV exit poll was 7,000. The fieldwork was done by IMRB.
# The NDTV-IMRB exit poll findings are markedly different from the DRS-INX News pre-poll survey which said the BJP would get 40, Congress, 29, JDS 12 and others 8.
# The Suvarna News-Cfore exit poll predicts 39-42 seats for the Congress, 24-27 for the BJP, 20-23 for the JDS 20-23, 1 for BSP, and 3 for others.
# A straw poll conducted by churumuri contributors said 41 for the Congress, 21 for BJP and 21 for JDS in the first phase.
The Ndtv poll seems credible to me,the earlier exit polls conducted by pro-congress media was biased.JDS was potrayed as a laughing stock in the earlier exit polls but it seems like karnataka is heading towards another hung assembly and deve gowda will again play an important role. All being said this is just an exit poll and everything will be out by 11 Am on 25th may.

after this exit poll , the undecided voters will definitely go for the BJP as the congress has no chance to score in North and Coastal Karnataka.Gowda and family would be happy with these exit poll figures as their strongholds have been shown to be retained but actual results would be 20 % less.
( 1 st phase )
They would hardly get 10 seats in the rest of the state .

We don’t agree JDS loosing in B’lore city as JDS is the only party to save the City from looters of the entire India. Kannadigas last chance to protect their city is retianing JD(s).
If NDTV survey is true, that is end of Kannadigas legacy in the capital.

Even if the exit poll results come true, South Karnataka is not exactly representative of the entire state. The voting pattern may change in central, coastal and northern Karnataka. I think the game is still wide open for the Congress as well as BJP.
Even if Congress does not make it, they will rule by proxy – continue with the President’s rule in the event of the polls throwing up a hung assembly – till Lok Sabha elections when fresh polls for State assembly will be held simultaneously.

Dear Kaangeya,
I promise you that Karnataka will never be a Bihar since it is built by intellectual class. B’lore was a cluster of small villages in 1909. Britishers choose Bangalore over Roorke to start Indian Institute of science. This shows depth of Karnataka tradition which is known to world. I think, it doesn’t need any more certificates like ISO, CMMI etc.,etc.,

Dear Mr. Kaangeya,
Bihar has been controlled by BJP/Congress/Lallu from past 30 years & +. That tells us Bihar is politically imatured due to illetracy and lack of leadership skills in BJP/Congress+Lallu even with the rich natural resources. We hope it becomes number one state again.

Some people masquerade as eminent persons in the society, but if one starts analysing them, their true colours are revealed. Some people, I think, wear the RSS shorts before sitting before the computer and post their views.
I wonder how learned people can hope for the BJP to come to power, particularly after watching the bloodletting course (Babri Masjid demolition, Gujarat riots) they had adopted to achieve their political goal.
These people, I think, also get get glimpses of Yeddi’s day-dreams that he would become the Chief Minister. I only hope they don’t go to a tailor and get for themselves suits stitched.
Though a lot of people want a change from Congress and JD (S) is definitely an option. Why not JD (S). Even if HDK is not secular (he tied up with BJP), HDD is. But, Congress is a safer bet for upholding secularism in the present context.

Possibly, JD(S) might get around 35-40 and the end resulst is JD(s) congress Tie up to form the Governament.
Possibly till the loksabha elections.

Mr. Secular torchbearer,
Take ur congress campaign elsewhere, congress being secular is the biggest joke, they are only secular towards everyone else other than the majority hindus. It was the same party that massacred sikhs, same party that stood those fanatics slamming taslima, the same party that did nothing to stop the hindu genocide in kashmir, the same party that does nothing to stop cross border terrorism, the same party which will say Ram is a myth, the same party for which urdu is secular but sanskrit is communal. Damn it the congress was ready to pass the sachar report which would allow madrasa passouts to join army. I would have liked it if people like u who vouch for secularism can come out and say, no party in india is secular in the true sense and as a hindu, in this situation i will vote for a party that protects my rights in a situation when no party is actually secular.
So in this situation as a human being it is natural to think that when a party is so badly appeasing minorities at the cost of the dharma of this land, i would rather see some riots (of course unjustified) which affect minorities rather than have the majority blown up by some jihadis everyday. Get this in ur mind straight (so called secular congress supporter).

U r right. This is what people are unable to understand. BJP is the worst and most corrupt political party in Karnataka. Their each tickets were sold not less than 1 cr. They have forget all those principles of JP and RSS.
Its high time we all realise the need of leaders like HDD and HDK. I agree they have made huge money. But that is how politics is defined in india. They have been running the show of JDS from last ten yrs successfully and might have spent much of their money there. Who in politics has not made money.
When so called free cycles was distributed to school children by Yediyurappa, The contractor or supplier for the govrnment was Yeddy’s son…..and whole story you can speculate now….
So we kannadigas have a big task of saving of state form Reddy garus……who sell our soil to make money…

Mr Murali,
You appear to have been completed brainwashed and indoctrinated by the facist BJP ideology of us (majority Hindus) versus them (the minority Muslims and Christians). Why can’t you grow up and adopt a humane approach towards fellow human beings instead of categorising them as Hindus and Muslims, which is exactly what the inhuman BJP wants people to think and fall into the trap.
I am no fan of the Congress party. But, atleast its appeal is broadbased and cuts across the society. People in the Congress may be as communal, if not more, than their BJP counterparts. But atleast the party is committed to secular ideology. The BJP, as a party, is clearly against secularism and that is the reason why Advani abhors the concept and tries ridicule the same by repeatedly using the word “pseudo secularism”.
Whether it a terror strike or a riots affecting minorities, their effect is the same. How could you possibly see a child crying over the dead body of his father killed in a riot. Would you not be moved by the sight. Imagine the helplessness of the child. How can you prevent him from growing up, filled with hatred against the perpetrators of such violence against his father.
The so-called appeasement of minorities is a phrase coined by the BJP to deprive Government benefits to a section of the society that is largely poor, uneducated and underpriviliged. What is wrong in taking extra care of a people, who are not as well endowed as the rest?
If one subscribes to BJP ideology, a civil society cannot be established in the country. The more the party corners the Muslims and subjugates them by orchestrating riots and denying them benefits under the pretext of appeasement, more the threat of terrorism.
