Ten days ago, the idiots, thugs, goondas and roll-call artistes protecting Hindu “culture” were warning against celebrating Valentine’s Day because “it is about lust, not love.”
“If not, we will get them married,” was the threat.
On Thursday, Pramod Mutalik was attending the vara pooje.
After receiving pink cheddis from around the globe last year, the man who is single-handedly destroying Sri Rama’s name, had his round face blackened with charcoal by “miscreants” during the recording of a TV show in Bangalore on Thursday. And then hiding like a mouse, under the protection of his “supporters”.

Pramod Mutalik’s style of protects and high handedness is definitely condemnable. However, the revival of the Saffron Brigade over the past few years, all over India, must be viewed in light of the Cong-I ‘s shameless, myopic embracing of anything that is anti-Indian including full support to Shah Rukh Khan who is not only openly pro-Pakistan in every sense but unapologetic despite the shock, anger and disappointment nationwide.

What is the difference between the miscreants who blackened the goonda’s face and the goonda himself? For them debate of any kind is just an uncivil show of muscle power without any thought for what is important.
These fellows have made public debate into a farce where laws are broken for entertainment. They thrive on such public drama to gain attention and eventually power and votes.
It is up to us to ignore these morons and jokers and not let them dictate anything about our lives, laws or public opinion. If necessary to face up to them we should do so on our terms, not theirs.

Your insinuations are unfortunate! I am no supporter of Mutalik or his sene! But it appears you have a bee in the bonnet when it concerns the sangh parivar or saffron brigade.
It was a panel discussion being recorded by Suvarna Channel and only selected invitees were part of the audience. The fact that there were Trojan horses in the audience and rival channels made it to the venue at the nick of the time makes one wonder who the real perpetrators were! Media rivalry ? Shame !

It is sad that people standing for a liberal cause are also resorting to vigilantism. I am not in anyway supporting Pramod Muthalik or the various Senes. Their behaviour is no doubt against the spirit of our democracy. But this kind of retaliation can very easily degenerate into a partisan struggle between the two sides which is the first milestone on the road to mob rule. Imagine if this continues, we will have a situation where the Brinjal dispute won’t be settled after a consultation like this time round but by who can get more face blackeners or card shop burners on his side.

hermann goering is not the author of that quotation.
the quotation appears in a play by hermann joust, the nazi “poet laureate” of 1935-45, in joust’s play in german titled “schlageter” (scene 1, act 1). even so, churumuri’s headline is at best a crude translation of the german.

actually, hermann joust penned the play in 1933, nearly two years before he was even appointed the nazi “poet laureate.”
i remember that in the early 1990s, my father had bought a translation of joust’s play from people’s book house (a shop in mysore’s landsdowne building) owned by an old friend of my father’s, one mr. d.r. krishnamurthy, who was a one-time member of mysore’s Praja Socialist Party. that in itself is sweetly ironic because of the subtext — the nazis were inimical of socialists and marxists and indeed anyone else who didn’t agree with their warped worldview and yet people’s book house was at that time a treasure house of pre-war german translations!

Pramod muthalik and his ilk need to be dealt with, by enacting tough laws against mob culture that’s threatening to rip the seam off our multi-cultural, liberal social democracy. Allowing another mob to blacken his face or deal with them is only promoting the same mob culture further. They need to be punished too. We are a civil society, and should deal in civil ways.
Satish:
> Shah Rukh Khan who is not only openly pro-Pakistan
Sadly you are not getting the point. You may disagree with What Shah Rukh khan says, but you can’t fault congress for supporting his right to say it. I am not pro-pakistan, but I don’t hate Pakistan. That doesn’t make me Anti-Indian!
It is amazing how people find any justification at all for the predicament Shahrukh Khan finds himself in. He did not go digging up a pitch, he didn’t go torching vehicles, he didn’t go about hitting hapless “indian” taxi drivers, He hasn’t gone about threatening anyone with words like “we can’t guarantee the safety of people watching a movie”.. All he did was to express what he felt about non-selection of pakistanis. And that makes him Anti-Indian??
Shivsena is against Australia because some Australians hit some Indians. How about some Indians getting beaten to pulp in Mumbai by the same party?? How about MNS kicking around “indian” taxi drivers, why hasn’t shiv sena objected and ‘banned’ MNS?
As they say the your freedom of expression stops at my nose. You can express your view point (However disagreeable to some other it may be), as long as you don’t threaten or use violence.
I support Shahrukh Khan whole heartedly and feel he is being brave so far. I hate Pawar for letting the situation come to this and for letting a rat like Bal Thackerey become as big as he has…

NONE!
The difference perhaps will be in how they’ll be dealt with. People like Muthalik go scott free after getting their followers to hit a bunch of women for visiting a pub. But, these folks perhaps will be dealt with a little more severely.
It is a shame most media has found it appropriate not to condemn this act. They seem to be almost enjoying Muthalik’s humiliation, with his own medicine. But, the reality is, any act of mob action is an outrage.

I agree with Shri. Satish M.
I hate Mr. Manmohan who wants lasting peace with Pak. I do not advocate war either. Lasting peace is not what we want now. We want day to day protection from terrorists.
I disagree with Shri.Vajpayee for wasting our nation’s focus on Pak for unusually long period during his premiership.
I hate Mr. Shah Rukh for taking the initiative welcoming Pak cricketers.
Shri. APJ Kalam has many times said that we are fighting a proxy war waged by Pak. This is done by PaK after many failures in holy wars.
It is a complex situation. Our neighbors have to be shown that we the general public will not be friendly if they wish to blatantly kill hundreds of innocent countrymen and women and children in a prestigious city.
IF popular people like SRK and others want interaction with Pak, – when Govt. is trying to engage Pak diplomatically – are we doing what we should do as citizens. Suppose all of us start welcoming Pak cricket players what will it come to?
I have not seen one national Cricketer going one step in inviting pak cricks.
Knowing how to create new middle paths for every issue is not advisable – we will end up like Jayanti Natarajan and Abhishek and Manish Tiwari.

Cool down. In debates of love you can’t heat up. I can understand your youthful anger. Understanding of man- woman relationship will go on forever. It’s an evergreen subject.
Even Muthalik is a lover – a lover of his culture.
Probably he lives in places or he has seen instances where innocent girls are misled with these hypes and suffer whole life.
I have loads of examples where girls are misled – recent one being Priyanka and Anand- where even the human rights head Vivekananda was found guilty. In such instances the complexities arise.
I am sure you also would have many relatives who went out of ways because of misguidance!
No one will object a married couple making love; since they would know where the limit is.
No one will object if you go to a anathashrama or vrudhashrama and show your love and affection.
No one will object if you can start understanding you family members and relatives and neighbours and show love and care towards them.
If unmarried ones want to make love it can be done without obscenity and careful and responsible manner in public.
I have seen ,probably a north indian, receiving blowjobs in jayanagar parks – just a road separated a large residential area. ( not that southies don’t do it but just quoting an incident i saw )
If there is obscenity it’s obvious they are lusting than loving and it’s perfect to oppose it.
So it’s obvious the hype of valentine’s day is only for teens – who at the end of the day menace of ragging , drug abuse , rock concerts and hiv injections in theatres and dance bars – all targetting immature college students will have to be taken care of . Isn’t it?
We all want peace and love; but in teenage it’s very important to differentiate between love and lust- which you will realize later.
Also learn that all these stuff are just for playfulness of a few uneducated people who have money. they create a hype to trap feeble ones- and we have loads of such people with money and without education.

Sorry, I don’t see unmarried couples ‘making love’ in public. In Bangalore, in most cases, the maximum I see is couples holding hands. I don’t see what causes so much heartburn in some people.
As far as your Jayanagar incident is concerned, I have a feeling the girl was most probably a prostitute. And the client, whether North Indian or South Indian, would have most probably been someone from the lower strata of society. Prostitutes do solicit clients in various parts of Bangalore – try going near Mekhri circle in the evenings, or near Manipal centre. I don’t see how this is related to V-day.
Personally I find this V-day concept rather silly, and I don’t care whether we celebrate it or not. What concerns me is that the “moral police” must be curbed – nipped in the bud, before they get too big for their boots. We have just been lucky that we have not had an equivalent of Shiv Sena in Bangalore. We’ll have some such thing soon if we don’t watch out.

For the vanguards of Indian culture. The best way to beat the Valentine day and its intended westernization or christianization (??) is through having our own Indian equivalents. Have a Rathi-Kama Diwas or Krishna Rasa Leela Diwas (or do we have this already) or a more explicit Rishi Vatsyayana Jayanthi, Koka Panditha Poornima, Jayadeva (of Geeta Govinda fame) Jayanthi, Shringara Dina etc.

I don’t know what his motivations are, or how valid his opinion is.. They are irrelevant.
What is of relevance is saying “Pakistani players could have been included” or “Pakistan is a good neighbour” doesn’t consist of breach of any law. It didn’t promote hatred, constitute a threat and neither can it be construed as anti-india statement!
It was just an opinion of semi literate celebrity. SRK is a motor mouth and half the time what he says doesn’t make sense. But, how can you drag him through the coal for being an idiot?

Father’s day , Mother’s day , Valentine’s day – how stupid. do they mean other days we don’t care about them!!
Celebrate festivals at onset of seasons – more scientific and mature.
fyi, holding hands is also a way of making love in public – for me it’s the best -call me old fashioned.
and about prostitutes – the society itself produces its own grave. they are also one among us. it’s better to curb such activities by bringing them to mainstream activities.
and above all – guys are not so dumb to not propose girls and to wait for valentine’s day !! girls are more soft and mature these days ; than in our days where they would be Kali’s aparaavatara – not giving any hints at all :(

@Anonymous Guy,
Well I said it as “probably” and also some explanation in braces. no hatred but a common observation of northies doing here since they can’t be caught and again “probably” southies doing somewhere else where they cannot be caught. hope you get the point.
And regarding MNIK, I am too old to sit and watch a movie now for so long in between youths- that too commercial.
I have this unusual criticism for SRK . At first I was his fan . As I grew I found he was just making money playing with sentiments.
Hoping I am not a spoiler to his movies – just observe his movies he will always be without father or mother and craving for love.
Bazigar – no father
Darr – no mother
DDLJ- no mother
Devaru madida Jodi – no parents.
KKHH , DTPH not to name some other horrible ones like koyla, raam jaane, anjaam ,karan arjun and so on.
The only movie I can recollect to be with parents but indifferent to them is Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa.
Even Aamir follows the same. ghajini and 3 idiots and many other blockbusters.
Other actors and actresses- almost similar majority in terms of roles.
All these are vulnerable characters due to deep enigma to be shown as love. Not that these cannot be real but they are needlessly overdone by some of these eccentric actors to make money.
The only movie I like for the way he was beaten and shivering was Shakthi – that too he had no other choice but to prove a bit in front of Nana Patekar and Prakash Rai and even Karishma was brilliant.
So all these made me to come out of commercial cinema culture be it any language.

@Anonymous Guy,
My hobby is to take a walk in park – not spotting them. just that day went a bit early. Most of the houses if they have a doorbeen can easily see it focussed.
How many parks Jayanagar has. Oops. No playgrounds at all!!!
So indeed BMP itself is insisting people to play this way. It should be renamed Kaamanagara Palike. It’s horrible to know as to how much water is wasted on them.
Park and temples – one has a live show other has stone show – nothing much of a difference.
Do you think people goto these park temples to pray?
Though i don’t deny about some exceptions most go to make a pair as it’s safe there. Park temples are such hot spots. some even overhear while making archane about gotras and make a deal with poojari about matrimony there itself.
If you go there regularly and show penchance ;people will look at your dress, chains and overall builtup and start enquiring about you and that’s how you get booked.
Girls on the other hand normally take care of complexion putting arishina and so on and following going there during onset of their ruthuchakra and some of important dates where they glow.
Muslims got fed up of this and stopped women from mosques.
Churches got more interested and allow confessions of even sins.
This is how libearalization and manifestations of material world and religious entities took place.
So temples and parks are indeed waste in Bangalore since people don’t have caliber to enjoy it as they should be.
These open spaces should host some plays, music ( not exceeding residential decibels) and give budding artists a chance – which is very well followed in west. These are called cultural activities. I have seen chitra santhe putup on roads while the whole golf course and these parks were shamelessly watered.
What happens here is make a small enclave , put a hanumantha or krishna or maaramma inside and close doors. People have stopped using there hands for namaskara ; they curve their finger in a unusual way put in on their chest on the either side and directly onto lips – showing cultural abeyance with christianity.

about parks it’s just a waste seeing so many acres being given to it.
it does not mean erect some buildings there, but use open spaces judiciously – like once a week.
beedi nataka , narrative story telling , small display exhibitions ,children plays why not. it’s increases community harmony.
Even now artists in west practice this in parks and metro trains. they still are respected.

Mr Gowda, you dont have a girlfriend.. Do you? That’s what this cribbing is all about. Don’t worry, ask your parents to get you married to someone who can get you a fat dowry..Instead of acting like a cry baby. That would spare us from your stupid and senseless comments.
Rather than a healthy debut, i believe u r more interested in Pig Play. i find no difference between ur comments and Shree ram sena’s action.
@Harkol
Who decides what’s our culture? And why is virginity so important?
Definitely u might not worry about other girl’s virginity unless untill someone in that ‘Other’s group have blood relations with u.

I second Mischief’s idea of having our own ‘Valentines’ day!
‘Idol’ is fast emerging as a talent spotter in Jayanagar Parks! His posts and replies to his posts are simply funny! Idol’s idea of Kitty Hawkers going about their business and what needs to be done about their ecosystem is very disturbing.

Murthy,
Just wondering about your thoughts on staging plays, one can stage a play in the Jayanagar park no? If a boy can get a blowjob undisturbed (I am assuming you didnt do KLPD and disturb the two when you spied on them), what should prevent a play from being staged. Dont they do the thing in a Jayanagar park on habba days when they invite local ‘celebrities’ and organize tamashas with loudspeakers and disco dance?
About sports – cant agree with you more, sports seems to be something only for the rich nowadays. BTW as you know, Jayanagar does have a few playgrounds left, e.g. big one behind Cosmopolitan club.
KH,
I think you should heed Murthy saar’s suggestion and try arishina. Maybe you can become bilihaidha based on his sage advice.
Gowda,
Keep making everyone else’s virginity your personal business – the Taliban will recruit you as a commander in charge of beating up women to protect their virginity.
