Reader Kollery S. Dharan forwards two screengrabs, shot with his mobile phone, of the 10 pm shows of NDTV 24×7 and CNN-IBN on Thursday, 13 January 2011.
Both channels carry the “live” logo on the top right-hand corner. And “live” on both channels at the same time on the same day is the diplomat-turned-politician Mani Shankar Aiyar.
For Barkha Dutt‘s show The Buck Stops Here (left), Aiyar, in a grey coat, offers his wisdom on the dynastic democracy that the writer Patrick French says India has become.
For Sagarika Ghose‘s show Face the Nation (right), Aiyar, now in a beige/ light brown coat, holds forth on Pakistan’s identity crisis. The two pictures were captured at 10.22 pm and 10.23 pm.
So, which channel had Mani Shankar Aiyar “live” last night? Or has Aiyar broken the time-space continuum?
Perhaps Mani Shankar Aiyer , like the character(s) Borden in the movie “The Prestige”, actually is/are twins.

It is time-pass continuum. Mani, trading insults with other TV panelists, is a daily OB van guest on all news channels between 8-11 in the night. I think TimesNow, CNNIBN & NDTV have all installed cameras permanently at his house.
Controversial & discredited prima donas of Indian News TV have been caught with their lies many a times, but they do know that they can get away with Kapil Siblish explanations. Cheers!!

The programmes are LIVE…Mani’s appearances may not be Live – on both channels – but pre-recorded.
Thought it sounds funny and illogic, technically there is nothing wrong in two TV channels saying the programme is live – which they are !

Look carefully one of them could be Mulayam Singh Yadav, Mani Shankar Iyers twin brother ;)

This is another example of the TV media taking consumers for a ride by showing it is live. Will the print media be interested to expose this shenanigan?

Jokes apart, the reason is something called sim-sat.
This should shed some light:

Vir Sanghvi had written an article about this in his pre-Radia days –
How can people be live on two channels simultaneously?

well, I stopped trusting these bunch of jokers called TV hosts (Rajdeep, Sagarika, Barkha etc.) long back. I think Karan Thapar is one of the few interviewers who makes some sense and who is objectives. The trick of Rajdeep and Sagarika is to keep shouting the entire show rather than objectively pursuing a point, many a times they don’t make any sense.
To see, how she doesn’t make any sense, see this:
Perhaps Suhasini Haider can do a better job than Rajdeep or Sagarika but in this family business but she is rarely given any prime time roles.

It was a typo with an additional V. It was supposed to be NDTV LIE and IBN LIE . Recently they posted fictitious comments attributed to non-existent twitter accounts purportedly supporting Rajdeep Sardesai’s call for legalizing brokers (lobbyist).

One more stupidity of CNN IBN.
Dr.Ramesh Pillai has been awarded a research grant from the European Research Council to conduct extensive studies on human DNA for the next five years.
This is a sort of recognition for all the hard work done by Dr.Pillai. But for our jokers in CNN IBN it does not appear so. They have brought out this news under the headline ” Indian scientist hits Rs.6 Crore jackpot”
Can there be anything more asinine than this??
